  1. Review titled Helpful, kind & compassionate

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anne Chapman - Posted on 25 October 2024

Phlebotomist, was so kind to me when I was having a tricky day being a carer for 3. I managed all their appointments & the dogs but forgot my BT paperwork. I just cried. Bless her, told me to take my time, said what to do and come back next day she would fit me in. I called Receptionist later to ask if a message could be passed to Phlebotomist to say I was coming. The receptionist was equally kind, helpful and compassionate. People at their best ❤️❤️ thank you

  2. Review titled Very efficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I needed to get some evidence to apply for a blue badge, and the service was fantastic. They rang me to find out exactly what I needed and the paperwork was ready to pick up a couple of days later.

  3. Review titled Exasperating

by Exasperated - Posted on 15 July 2024

With a history of stage 4 cancer and skin cancer, I thought it would be easy to get an appointment to get changes in a mole evaluated (bigger, darker). Wrong! Only one person at the practice can look at moles, they are not in until midweek, and the only was to get to see this part time person is to ring every day at 8am in the hopes I might be lucky that day - but look on the bright side, it shouldn’t take weeks to get an appointment. I wonder what training they are given about early identification of conditions likely to kill patients? Whatever it is, we are all lumped together, ingrown toenails, bad backs and sick notes, and people with potentially time sensitive, fast growing terrible things likely to kill them, in the same daily race. What is wrong with the training and appointment system? Why can’t appointments be put in this practitioner’s diary in advance? Computer says, ‘No!’ I wonder if the system is fit for purpose, and if a return to old fashioned paper diaries you could actually turn the page and write in could be any worse. It’s not just the system though, the gatekeepers should be trained to recognise which conditions are time sensitive and potentially deadly, and pull those patients through the system more efficiently.

  4. Review titled Poor access

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Stephanie Hussey - Posted on 21 May 2024

I require a change to medication. I start work at 7:00 then try and call at 8:00 but cannot get through. I try various routes am blocked at every avenue. This is appalling 'service'. I have found reception staff to be obstructive and condescending. Though the nursing staff friendly and kind. We cannot all sit at home waiting a phone call, I myself work in the NHS and my patients do not have the same problem contacting me for help.

Dear Stephanie Hussey, Thank you for your feedback. We value all comments received. We are sorry to hear that you feel you are being blocked in accessing the Surgery. If you are unable to get through on the phone you are able to request a call-back. This has proved to work well and is popular with patients who use it. Please bear in mind that Reception staff are only able to offer appointments and services which are available at the time. We're glad to hear that you did obtain an appointment with the Duty Doctor yesterday. Kind regards, Janet Carlo Practice Administrator

  7. Review titled Unable to get doctor appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Lynne Stanford - Posted on 04 April 2024

I have phoned this surgery numerous of times to be told can’t get an appointment need to call back 8am next morning. Then it all happens again next day. When I did get through to reception a few weeks ago I was told that certain Pharmacy’s could issue antibiotics, so this morning I rang one and they confirmed because my daughter had her tonsils out she had to see a doctor. Upon phoning the doctors again this morning was told to call back 8am tomorrow. No wonder there are more mental health problems around when you can’t get to see a doctor. Looks like I will have to take my daughter to urgent care and having to put the load on them, that’s the only way of getting any help these days.

Dear Lynne, Thank you for your feedback. We do take all comments seriously and are continually reviewing the appointment system. Please be aware: You may find it easier to request a call back from our Surgery if your time is limited. Reception will signpost you to a Pharmacy for certain conditions including the one which we understood you to be calling about. If you are unable to get an appointment with a GP you have the option to call 111 or attend Accident & Emergency if it’s an emergency. Janet Carlo Practice Administrator

  8. Review titled Not patients friendly

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 January 2024

I’ve been trying to submit an e-consult for 3 days now but every time I attempted there was a message saying “your practice doesn’t accept e-consults at the moment”. Eventually I called the reception asking for a telephone consultation with my GP. The answer was: “we haven’t got any appointments, please call back tomorrow at 8am”. When I asked about the e-consult service I was told they had 12 (!), could not accept any more and closed it at about 11am. I myself work for the NHS starting at 7:45am and cannot ring the surgery in the morning or complete an e-consult during my working hours. My husband works as well and is unable to do it for me. As the e-consult service is unavailable in the afternoon and you cannot book an appointment over the phone later in the day, it means I can’t contact my GP at all. Very disappointing service and difficult to navigate especially for people who work. Perhaps the surgery should reconsider the way their appointments are allocated as it’s impossible for me to get any.

  9. Review titled Patient, kind and supportive member of the nursing team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Athena Christodoulou - Posted on 15 September 2023

I attended the practice with my son for his MMR vaccine. We were welcomed by the nurse on duty that day who was patient with us whilst we settled ourselves into the room and was approachable and friendly. The nurse took time to get to know my son, who at the age of 1 1/2 was quite nervous. The nurse prepared the vaccine, all the while reading my son his favourite book. This all helped contribute to a quick and swift administration of the vaccine. The nurse very kindly rewarded my son with a sticker which instantly stopped his tears. I am very grateful for this nurses attentiveness. I have since been back for my own personal appointment and have seen the same nurse who has continued to go above and beyond their usual duty. The review via the NHS website does not allow me to name or give the initials of who I am referring to, which is a great shame given that we have received such excellent care.

  10. Review titled Surprisingly good service

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Graham Price - Posted on 05 July 2023

One swallow a summer does not make but this morning I called at 0800hrs, spoke with a helpful and polite receptionist, got a doctor’s telephone appointment with my GP, who rang me on time and gave me a quality consultation. I have been a fierce critic of this practice, often giving it deservedly low ratings, but today I find myself able to say they did me proud this morning and it’s 5+ stars from me. I haven’t had to use their services in quite a while but hopefully they have sorted out the historic problems that are well known from previous reviews including my own. Well done and thank you.
