  1. Review titled Declining Rapidly

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 July 2023

The GP surgery used to be so great but it’s declined drastically. The E-consult form is such a poor service and makes it difficult to get an appointment. The staff rarely answer the phone. I had a text from the surgery asking me to phone for an appointment and was first in the telephone queue before for over 50 minutes and eventually walked to the GP (whilst still waiting for the phone to be answered) and made my appointment at the desk whilst listening to my phone call ringing out and being ignored. I’m so grateful we’re fortunate enough have private healthcare that includes a private GP service. It used to be great but ever since covid they’ve declined and pushed patient care to online forms and telephone conversations. I think everybody understands the pressure the nhs is under but the surgery is regularly understaffed, E-consult closed to lack of staff, phones not answered because they want you to complete E-consult forms first. It’s such a shame.

  2. Review titled Gone downhill!

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Lisa Fidock-Thomas - Posted on 16 April 2023

I still don’t understand why the surgery is not functioning properly. Can anyone answer the question? Most surgeries have gone back to normal practices. Schools, and all other businesses are operating normally. Whilst at my recent apt in the surgery I felt that the GP’s room was unwelcoming and it felt unkempt, dismal and gloomy. I don’t expect flowers and sing songs. But a room with some character, not empty shelves, dark, no pictures on the wall, not personalised as it once was. Then to top the lot, I’ve been requesting a repeat prescription for over a week, numerous times and only received contact from the surgery on Fri. I’ve had to alternate the days to stretch out my medication so that I wasn’t completely without. What is happening, when will will get a fully functioning GP practice back?

  3. Review titled managing difficult times extremely well

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have had to contact the surgery for an urgent appointment x2, a routine continuation of medication and a referral for my child. On every occasion I have been dealt with in a timely manner, efficient service and brilliant care. Triage allows the correct clinician to see you ( I’ve spoken with both the pharmacist and Doctors) and avoids a lot of wasted time. We are short of doctors and need to use them appropriately. Yes it’s difficult to change the process of how we access care but we can learn to do it rather than always reverting back to what you used to be able to do. The NHS and its staff deserve to be respected. I’m very grateful. Thank you .

  4. Review titled * Poor Unacceptable service

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Mrs R - Posted on 13 July 2023

Before covid this surgery was very busy, phone lines very, very busy, queues in waiting room - very busy. But ...... my phonecall was always answered reasonably swiftly. A good choice of appointment dates and times were always offered and within 24 hours, irrespective of level of urgency. Post covid - sadly the complete opposite. A faceless operation with an E-consult form that the Surgery decides whether or not it is available. No face to face communication. Poor handling of my mothers death certificate. Inaccurate and insufficient communication from the team behind reception. Delays - with no explanation. No apology. Whoever is now running the operational side of the surgery needs to be urgently reviewed. It's a shame as Baldock is a fab town and the Doctors & Nurses are caring and do their best. The rest fall short, providing poor levels at best.

  5. Review titled At last

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by J W - Posted on 01 November 2022

Seen by a Clinical Pharmacist for the first time in 3 years instead a of a telephone call. Was able to discuss my medication which was reduced. This would never of happen on the previous phone calls, as all I was asked was do I feel ok. Thank you for making the change and letting us see people.

  6. Review titled Used to be great now shocking

Rated 1 star out of 5

This surgery used to be great but is now shocking. You aren't allowed to make an appointment without filling out an e-consult & it is virtually impossible to actually see a GP. Some things are too complex to be dealt with by a form. There should be some trust that if a patient says they need to see their GP then they actually need to see their GP and not have a pharmacist discuss you with a GP without any further reference to you & then make a decision which you are supposed to just accept without you be able to discuss the reasons with the GP. I appreciate that the surgery is busy but they seem to have forgotten that they are dealing with people and instead just treat patients as a problem / a statistic to be dealt with.
