  2. Review titled Excellent Appointment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 February 2023

My planned appointment was cancelled on the morning due to staff sickness, but I received a call from one of the new GP Registrars shortly after to discuss my issue. He invited me into the Surgery later the same day. He was really good, listened to my thoughts and gave me all the information and prescriptions I needed. A really positive experience, thank you.

  3. Review titled Appalling

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Nicola - Posted on 02 February 2023

I went into the surgery today to try and make an appointment to see a doctor.I was told that there were no appointments available. When I stated that it was not urgent and asked if I could make an appointment within the next few weeks I was told that appointments could no longer be prebooked as they are not sure what rotation doctors are on. This is dreadful organisation and management - surely practices should be aware of schedules and rotations. I stated that I would come back at 8am the following morning whereby I was told that there would a queue and still no guarantee of getting an appointment. I was also told that I would only receive a telephone appointment if there were any left. As I have to work I’m not sure how many mornings I can queue or stay in a long telephone queue just to try and speak to a doctor. I had heard of the anger and frustration that this process had caused members of the Deepings community and now having experienced such a poorly managed and badly run system I can fully appreciate the major cause for concern many people in the community have. Having rarely been to the surgery in the past few years I am shocked and saddened that what used to such an outstanding practice is now barely operating and is so chaotic.

  4. Review titled Dreadful practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Robert Oxford - Posted on 16 February 2023

I get a text telling me to ring reception for a doctor's appointment only to be told - after a long wait - that there isn't one. Can I speak to a doctor on the phone? No - that counts as an appointment. The suggestion that I ring at 8am is also a non starter as I have tried that before. I actually have a GP who I have never seen.

  5. Review titled No response from GP after completing on line form

Rated 1 star out of 5

by David - Posted on 03 February 2023

I completed an on line form requesting medication advice because I’d been prescribed eye drops for glaucoma at the hospital. The drops were hurting my eyes and I asked if there was an alternative. I received a text from reception to say the form had been passed to a GP and that was the last I heard about it. I phoned a week later to see what was happening and was passed to the dispensary and they told me to phone the hospital. I wonder why I had to chase my first contact up and why I didn’t get a call back from the GP or anyone else.

  6. Review titled Do not recommend this practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 January 2023

How do you ever get an appointment at this practice, have been down twice at 8am and by the time I’ve been seen all appointments are gone by 8.10am! It really worries me when I see lots of elderly patients waiting before 8am to try and make an appointment and still can’t get one. Called a surgery in Bourne to see if I could transfer but apparently due to the mass exodus of patients from the Deepings they have now closed their books! God help anyone who is really I’ll!

  7. Review titled Impossible to get help from a doctor

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Robert Gage - Posted on 16 January 2023

Despite repeated attempts to use the online econsultation since the start of the month, the site keeps telling me access is restricted until a date a few days in the future. Calling puts you in a queue, and whilst the call back service is useful its not very convenient when you are called back over an hour later - I appreciate you are busy but we have jobs and lives and need to get on as well Both my wife and I have had an illness for over 2 weeks and neither of us have been able to get anything other than an awkward conversation with a receptionist who is clearly getting used to people complaining until today I'm being told to wait 2 weeks for a medication review, and the over 40 check that the surgery text me and asked me to arrange cannot be booked as there are none on the system Since covid, this surgery has been terrible to deal with, unless its a service where the practice can make some money. I've been sent requests for asthma clinics, weightloss programmes and several other things, yet when I present with a still undiagnosed pain in the abdomen I just get passed back and fore over the phone until I give up and put up with the discomfort

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you have experienced problems when trying to obtain an appointment. We have recently recruited more administrative staff, receptionists and Locum GP's to help with the demand and we are continually reviewing our appointment system. We offer a same day appointment service as well as pre-bookable appointments. Once we are at capacity for same day appointments, we direct our patients to 111 as per protocol. If you would like to discuss your concerns further with us we would welcome you to email us at feedback.deepingspractice@nhs.net Kind Regards Claire Assistant Practice Manager

  8. Review titled Attentive when able to speak

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 January 2023

I've needed various contacts over the last few months and whilst it hasn't been easy getting through via phone or other media, when I've managed to speak to a doctor or other clinician they have been helpful and thorough with many tests and quick results.

I would just like to say thank you for the help I was given this morning by your reception team. Having worked in an admin role for the NHS I know how often you are unfairly criticised and could not fault the help I was given today for my elderly parents. Thank you

  10. Review titled Ridiculous Rules

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Beth Cavers - Posted on 25 January 2023

Even though not an NHS rule, the practice has removed online access for my son when he turned 13. He has monthly repeat prescriptions which the practice will only accept on a paper slip hand delivered to the practice, they won’t allow email or phone ordering. Received a text from them to book an appointment with a specific doctor for my son, queued on the phone for 25 minutes to be told that specific doctor is not working today and my son has to see them only. Told to ring back tomorrow as not allowed to book appointments for tomorrow or make a note themselves and book it tomorrow because of “the rules”. Was told, if all the appointments are gone by the time I get through tomorrow (Thursday) then I would have to try again Monday (no chance of getting through on a Monday) as that will be when that doctor will next be in! No one can explain why they have set these “rules” to not allow 13-15 year olds to have online access or be able to book an appointment for any other day than that day, even when a specific doctor has requested you book the appointment. They should be putting patients first, not themselves!

Dear Mrs Cavers, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. The Deepings Practice receives guidance from the Royal College of General Practitioners and our policy is to restrict the scope of existing proxy access for children when they turn 13. These boundaries are put in place for patient safety and patients are advised of this in writing before the Childs 13th birthday. Online access can be requested for 13 - 15 year olds and this would be considered by their GP and the patient would be advised of the GP's decision. Please contact the practice if you would like your sons online access to be reviewed by a GP. Thank You Kind Regards, Claire Assistant Practice Manager
