  1. Review titled Magnificent professional staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Robin Howard William Jones - Posted on 16 January 2024

I had cause to visit the practice on three occasions between December 21 and January 15. On each occasion I found the staff, from the booking desk receptionist to the six nurses and doctor who attended me, and the dispensary staff, were superb in the accommodating and very helpful discharge of their professional duties. Each of them showed they are a credit to the practice and the district that it serves.

  2. Review titled Diabetes review

Rated 4 stars out of 5

My recent diabetes review was conducted very well despite confusing text messages from the practice on times and whom I was to see. These confusing texts contributed to my blood pressure being high during the review! Surley checks before sending text appointments may assist both patients & medical staff in avoiding confusion, and sometimes annoyance, when attending Face to Face appointments at the practice.

  3. Review titled Terrible service

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have tried to get an appointment for my now 11 week old baby for several weeks with no luck. They have booked me an appointment for the 8th of January (3 weeks after the date I called) which I feel really isn’t good enough. We were advised to ring 111 or go to a walk in centre which we did. The walk in centre is only nurse led so they are not able to help and advised we can only see a GP. I think it is disgraceful that an 11 week old baby does not get priority and they are not able to offer an appointments sooner than 3 weeks. Meanwhile my son is in pain and constantly uncomfortable and my doctors won’t do anything!!

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. As you have posted anonymously we are unable to look into this in more detail for you. We would welcome you to contact us at feedback.deepingspractice@nhs.net so we can investigate this. In May 2023, the practice needed to alter the appointments system in line with changes to the core GP contract, this resulted in an increase of routine appointments being offered and being booked in the future, but less on the day capacity to offer patients. This was advertised to patients quite extensively. When a patient contacts the practice for a non-urgent routine appointment, we aim to book this appointment within 14 days. If the patient is requesting a specific GP, or a specific day / time, there can be a longer wait for this appointment. This will be at the discretion of the patient if they wish to wait or accept an earlier appointment with a different clinician or on a different day. We also do keep a measure of same day, urgent appointments back each day for patients with more urgent problems, but as you can imagine these fill up quickly, and once we are at capacity with no further on the day appointments to offer, we would signpost patients to the most suitable service based on their symptoms and the urgency they feel they need to be seen. NHS111, urgent treatment centres, minor injuries are services in place for these patients, a pharmacy may also be able to help patients. If a patient refuses one of these services, then we would offer a routine appointment. We also do have priority appointments to offer daily for under 2 year olds. As per the GP contract, we do not ask patients to call us back the following day. If we have no routine appointments to offer, we add patients to a waiting list and we contact the patient once we have a suitable appointment slot to offer them. We understand that this response may not alleviate the frustration and inconvenience you have experienced , I do hope it has reassured you to the different options available for patients to book appointments, and the anticipated wait times, and signposting we may have to do. Kind Regards Claire Assistant Practice Manager

  4. Review titled Communication issues between administrators

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anne stacey - Posted on 22 November 2023

Recently been in hospital following serious illness and after discharge tried to obtain a Fit Note to hand to employer, this proved almost an impossible task for the surgery to do. The one issued did not detail condition that was listed on hospital discharge letter and they seem incompetent to complete this request, I’m very surprised by the lack of empathy and support given when patients are trying to recover from serious illness and they almost are provoking in there response to cause issues for your employer by offering an inaccurate, sloppy detailed fit note just because they can’t be bothered!! Very poor service to our community by this place !!

Dear Ms Stacey, Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear of your recent hospital admittance and the frustration you have had with obtaining your fit note. It is the responsibility of the hospital staff to issue sick notes for a period of stay in hospital and the ‘expected’ recovery time afterwards. This certificate should be obtained before you are discharged from hospital. This is to avoid unnecessary referrals to GPs solely for the purpose of sickness certification. 6. Review titled cancelled appointments

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Claire Hall - Posted on 03 November 2023

I have recently had 2 MSK appointments cancelled without being told and why. I had one a few weeks ago where i waited in my house for hours and had no call, and was due to have one today from 12-2pm (3/11/23) and no call. I rang up and was told they had cancelled the appointment for my daughter as she was 14, even though my doctor i saw this week told me to she had referred my daughter Sophie Hall for physio and that i should book the appointment. Why did the MSK team not do the decent thing and let me know what was going on, not to just cancel it without any notice. I have been waiting for the call for nothing to happen, so had to phone up and waste my time and the receptions time to resolve this. The practice go on about patients missing appointments and not letting them know they are not coming so i wouldn't expect an employee at the practice to do the same and it appears you don't practice what you preach!. I am now left very frustrated and this issue is now going round in circles getting nowhere. The receptionist was very helpful trying to sort it out today but this was not their issue to sort out. An appointment was made but now have to wait another few weeks to have a call, and no doubt for no one to call me again!. This is such a frustrating process and needs to be looked at. Thanks Claire

Dear Ms Heatherington, Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear you were happy with your appointment. We aim to offer routine appointments within 14 days. In the unfortunate event of unforeseen clinician absence, occasionally, appointments may need rearranging. We do endeavour to rebook these for patients as quickly as possible. 8. Review titled Dementia Resource Centre

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Julie Harrison - Posted on 02 February 2024

At the point of my husband’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis a GP from Deeping Practice contacted the Dementia Resource Centre in Peterborough who in turn contacted me and my husband and myself now attend weekly meetings there. One for my husband and a carers meeting for me. Attending here has been a positive experience.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear of your concerns and would like to reassure you of our commitment to assist patients with access to booking appointments. We are working to the new GP contract which meant we needed to change our appointment system. We do have appointments released online for patients to book, albeit not as many as we had prior to working to the new contract. Patients can also telephone the surgery to request an appointment, and if we have nothing to offer we will put you on a waiting list and contact you once we can book the appointment for you, this ensures the patient does not need to call the practice back the following day(s). I hope this information helps. Kind Regards Claire Assistant Practice Manager

  10. Review titled What’s gone wrong?

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 October 2023

It seems this surgery just doesn’t like ill people and tries to dump them on 111 or a walk-in elsewhere. It can take the best part of an hour to just get through to reception, and then you simply get ‘there’s no appointments, someone may ring you in 14 days’. Even then the practise seems to think that patients don’t have work and that they can change timings on the day without offering any mechanism to check it convenient. Do they honestly believe that patients are happy to discuss illnesses whilst at work or in the supermarket

    Review titled The Deepings Practice

    Replied on 11 October 2023

Dear Patient. Thank you for your feedback. As per communications from the practice in May 2023, we needed to change our appointment system in line with the new GP contract, which puts a much greater focus now on continuity of care and ongoing problems. We have much less same day capacity than we did in the height of the Covid19 pandemic, when virtually everything was a same day appointment only. As the contract and terms of this are set by NHS England, we cannot alter them. The practice does provide a measure of emergency, same day care, however appointments are limited. We are not an emergency urgent care centre, nor do we have the capacity to be one. If there are no same day emergency appointments left, we direct patients to other NHS providers locally who will care for patients with urgent/ emergency problems. Whilst we recognise this may cause some frustration to patients, we are confident that when contacting another provider you will be triaged and offered the most appropriate advise and treatment, if needed. We have also adapted our appointment timings to offer a shorter window for a call back, which will benefit patients. We can also note a patient request for a callback date / time, however, understandably this cannot be guaranteed. Kind Regards Claire Assistant Practice Manager
