    Terrible surgery . Have been trying for 3 months to get a face to face appointment for a child who has mental health problems and clinically unwell . Blocked at every turn , it’s not the receptionist fault but rude and abrupt. It seems impossible to get an appointment with any Dr at any time .

    I recieved a text saying to book an appointment with my gp. The receptionist was abrupt and rude. I have attempted on my phone 293 times to get through at 8am. I finally gave up at 9.20am. She told me to "phone at 8am as it says on the text". Very rude and no people skills. Perhaps some compassion should be involved in their training!

    We are sorry to hear of your recent experience when attempting to contact the Practice to book an appointment. Please assured that our Patient Assistant staff receive comprehensive training in customer/patient service and communication skills, I am sorry this was not reflected in the way you were dealt with on this particular occasion. Unfortunately, as your feedback is anonymous , we are unable to trace your telephone calls which would allow us to feedback to the member of staff to whom you spoke. Your feedback , however, has been passed to the Patient Assistant Manager, who will address with her Team for reflection.

    Nothing but praise for this surgery. Easy to ring up and book a routine appointment, given the same day, which was amazing. Very good booking in service, appointments running to time and great information in the waiting room keeping people informed of running to time or if at all late. Finally saw a caring and professional doctor who asked regarding our expectations and whether they had been met at the end of the consultation, which they had, but brilliant to be given the opportunity to explore any further questions. Whilst GPs receive a lot of flack at the moment, this surgery consistently performs well and offers excellent service. Thank you!

    We had an emergency care situation with a loved one who is registered with the surgery. The help, information and guidance we received from the surgery was both empathetic and prompt. This was and will be, going forward, very reassuring. Thank you for helping us at a very stressful time for our family. Much appreciated.

    A total struggle getting a letter from a private appointment translated into a prescription. 3 phone calls, waiting for 40 mins at a time, 2 emails, 3 visits to the surgery to be told it’s stuck in the system or will take an extra week, or ‘someone should’ contact you soon…then nothing. Today I spoke directly to the Medicine Management Team. What a breath of fresh air. They knew straight away what to do, handled it in minutes and gave amazing advice. A huge relief.

    My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in April 2022. A Care Co-ordinator contacted me from Downend Health Group to offer me as his carer advice and information on activities we could access. She has rang me every 2 weeks offering support and pointing me in the right direction for groups we can join and Alzheimer’s support we can access. This help and someone to listen to my worries has been a great help to me.

    Great response and constant support during many weeks of chest infections. X-ray referral to clinics medications and face to face and phone calls. Hospital referrals and excellent COPD discussion. Everything explained clearly during a very stressful time.

    I would like to comment on my experience of recent interactions with Christchurch Medical Practice Downend . Whilst there have been delays getting through these are to be expected because of the severe pressure the Practice is under. However once I established contact the service received from Practice staff has been exemplary. The reception staff are unfailing polite, helpful, caring and demonstrate a ready willingness to help you with your issue. The Medication Team are always very efficient. I have always experienced high quality care and support from the Clinical Staff. I want to put my appreciation on record as there is a tendency to complain when things go wrong but no equivalent tendency to praise when things go well. Thank you all for the care you have given me.

    I've been a patient of Willows for over 40 years, which has now merged and become one half of Downend Health group with Christchurch Medical Practice. Today I needed an emergency appointment. As instructed, I called bang on 8am, I got an engaged tone for 6 minutes, then I joined the waiting line in position 6, 10 minutes later I had a same day appointment, with a female Dr as requested all before lunchtime. Both the receptionist and the Dr that I later went to see were lovely and I'm very pleased to be a member of DhG

    I had to speak to the Medicines Management Team about my medication as I am having problems with getting one of the items and I actually ran out and was desperate. I spoke to 6 different pharmacies. The lady I spoke to in the team was extremely helpful and polite and through her I was able to find a pharmacy that had a few boxes left for me. Just want to thank her for her help and putting my mind at ease.
