  1. Review titled Great Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ruth Whatton - Posted on 05 May 2023

We joined Glenfield surgery last year having to leave our practice in the Nook Anstey Leicestershire after the service by the receptionists started to impact on mine and my fathers health. Glenfield surgery are amazing the service theyprovide to their patients is second to none. My father who is 86 has been looked after so well after a blood test when we first joined showed prostate cancer. A recent UTI I was called back in less than 15 minutes from when I first called reception at 9.30am to me reporting in the afternoon my father wasnt passing water and the doctor then called me within 5 minutes and recommended I take him straight to A and E. he was then admitted to the Leicester general hospital. If it wasn’t for such amazing service my father could have become extremely poorly. I cannot praise this surgery high enough and am so grateful for the service they provide and their care they give their patients. They are outstanding. Best wishes Ruth Whatton

  2. Review titled depends on who you deal with.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 April 2023

To start with I would like to mention the complete rudeness and incompetence of the phlebotomist at the surgery. I clearly don’t need to say much more on this as I have already read through the number of negative reviews already on here about her. There are some very lovely receptionists who tend to go well out of their way to help in whatever way they can and this has been the case on a number of occasions, however my experience on wednesday…i phoned at 8:30 in the morning to ask for an urgent appointment for my elderly father who has alzheimer’s who had become increasingly confused and wasn’t going to the bathroom, only to be refused an appointment and told it wasn’t urgent for today and i had to wait 11 days, i felt rushed off the phone and a complete lack of sympathy whilst i was very emotional. I then came down to the surgery very frustrated and asked to speak with a manager following my experience, the young lady on the desk that morning ended up arranging an urgent appointment for my dad without even batting an eyelid. She apologised on behalf of her colleague and remained professional and polite despite my frustration (which I know myself can be difficult to do sometimes). She was so very understanding and was unbelievably patient whilst i was upset. A complete asset to the surgery. - unfortunately i didn’t get her name Overall I believe there are some wonderful staff at the glenfield surgery, however there are a few whom make you feel so small and almost pathetic which let the practice down.

  3. Review titled Agonizing blood test

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 April 2023

I have had plenty of blood tests in past all of which nurse found the vein first time. On this occasion I was jabbed multiple times like a pin cushion and first told I was too stressed then told I have bad veins then told I was too tense. On 4th or 5th painful try blood was finally extracted. Bad patient or bad at your job.

  4. Review titled Amazing Phlebotomist!

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Megan - Posted on 25 April 2023

I've been a patient at Glenfield Surgery for over 8 years now and every time I've had to have blood drawn, the phlebotomist has been absolutely incredible! She's super kind, friendly, always remembers who I am and asks how I'm doing. Over the years I've had blood drawn a number of times by other phlebotomists and I can genuinely say that the lady at Glenfield surgery is the best. I'm so impressed with how painless she makes it and how genuinely kind and caring she is. I noticed a few bad reviews on here about the Glenfield phlebotomist and I really cannot understand how anyone will have had a bad experience with her. I don't believe it for a second as I've had my blood drawn by her so many times over the years and each time she's been friendly, professional and quick!

  5. Review titled Rude phlebotomist

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 March 2023

My dad has altzeimers and is unsure of what to do at the doctors. The phlobotomist was very unwelcoming, barked instructions at him and made us both feel that we were taking up her precious time. There was no small talk to relax him. She didn't speak other than to tell him to roll up his sleeve. She didn't smile or naked him feel at ease. It's a good job that I was with him. Very unnecessary. I feel very sorry for anyone elderly who goes there alone.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have only been a patient at Glenfield Surgery for a couple of months, and they are a lot better than my previous doctors. They are beyond helpful, and you can get an appointment near enough straight away. The nurses and doctors are so helpful.

  8. Review titled Excellent Support

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Dawn Mason - Posted on 28 February 2023

Our day to day living is dictated by my mobility and my husbands dementia. The surgery we are registered with, reception. practitioners. pharmacy and admin have bent over backwards to meet our needs due to our inability to attend the practice. Highly satisfied.

  9. Review titled Poor care during pregnancy

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 February 2023

I have had several health issues during my pregnancy and have had many blood tests with ongoing complex issues and worsening iron deficiency. It's almost impossible to get to actually speak to a doctor regarding these issues because when you call and speak to a receptionist they don't class your case as a priority and at times are extremely unhelpful. As someone who also works within the NHS it's disappointing to see the barriers to accessing Healthcare within the community, which has often led to me having to liase with Maternity Assessment Unit, who have prioritised my health issues, however then have to use their extremely busy acute care service to support health needs that should really be dealt with by my GP practice. When I do get to speak to a GP they are often very helpful however the barriers to actually being able to speak to one are often put in place by non medical admin staff who don't understand the importance or urgency of the queries that are raised, meaning that as the pregnancy has progressed these health issues have become worse. I am now at the final stages of my pregnancy and require an iron infusion prior to early induction, but am still unable to speak to a GP as a matter of urgency because the reception staff don't prioritise this and have been told today that it's going to be over a week before I can speak to a doctor and have been referred back to my midwife who cannot prescribe or refer me for an iron infusion. After calling MAU again today, I will be receiving an urgent plan from the doctors in the hospital but feel extremely deflated when having to call Glenfield Surgery. Unfortunately due to staffing I have seen several different midwives at the surgery so far and am yet to see more before the baby is due. There seems to be no continuity of care and when I have asked to speak to the practice manager I am always told they are unavailable. I am now at a point where I am reaching the deadline for an iron infusion to be effective in order for the safe delivery of my baby and the risk of complications due to low iron is starting to increase drastically. I hope the service improves for the sake of future patients. There has to be a better way of managing pregnant patients with complex care needs and getting non medical call handlers to actually speak to medically trained staff before deciding it's not an urgent matter. Other aspects of the surgery have been really effective such as requesting medications or issuing sick notes, however there is definitely room for improvement when it comes to antenatal care.

  10. Review titled Fabulous practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 February 2023

I have only been registered with this practice for a couple of weeks, but already have found them to be amazing. Within 24 hours of registration I was invited for a health check , the appointment times were very flexible and met my needs due to work commitments to me this is a first with any doctors that I have been registered with . Upon my first arrival at the doctors for my appointment I was met with extremely friendly and helpful staff also the cleanliness of the waiting area . Repeat prescriptions are straight forward and sent straight to my chemist of choice . I couldn’t be more pleased that i decided to change doctors, Thank you to all at The Glenfield surgery that help to make this practice exceptional
