Review titled Quick response
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 January 2024
The patchs system is very effective. I had an immediate response ( in the middle of the busy holiday period). My query was dealt with very quickly and the response was communicated through my chosen method. This is an excellent tool for patients to use with a common sense approach. It reduces the need for endless back and forth phone calls with the surgery and frees up doctors appointments for those that need them . I have seen a huge improvement in the services provided by this practice.

Dear patient Thank you for taking the time to let us know your thoughts about the new Patchs online consultation tool. I'm pleased you have been able to use this with good results, and appreciate the additional access this method offers our patients. You are absolutely right, more patients being able to use Patchs will improve access for those who cannot, and who really need us. Kind regards DS

The Grange Medical Practice have improved immensely. No long waiting lines when phoning the surgery, able to get appointments reasonably quickly. From the receptionists and call operators to the nurses and doctors - they're all extremely helpful. I'm pleased the practice has improved so much making it approachable and not off putting should a medical problem arise. Well done to all the team and staff involved in achieving this - Thank You!

Dear Doreen I'm sorry to hear about your recent experience at the Practice. I'm sorry to hear that you were told your sample was lost. This is wholly unacceptable, and I would like to investigate the matter further. It could be that the hospital lab had rejected the sample, rather than it being lost. Please will you contact the surgery directly so we can take some more information and investigate this as a complaint. Kind regards DS

Review titled Bad attitude from Appointment Line Staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 18 December 2023
Certain appointments staff who have been at the practice for many years never change to good practices. My recent encounter with appointments staff was incredibly concerning. My concern was immediately dismissed and an appointment not given. I was told to call111. No level of respect or empathy was shown to my family. The appointments staff was untrained in medicine yet gave me instructions based on “medicak insight” which was relayed to me very sarcastically. This is very in appropriate and it turned out there medical advice was worryingly incorrect The appointments staff should be caring and respectful. Patients deserve to be given advise from the adequately trained medical staff not insensitive appoinments staff. This would improve the services here. Hope this is implemented soon.

The doctor was not realy listening to me and I felt that he could not be bothered that I am in sever pain and am at risk of falls. The pain and swelling in my knees is realy bad stopping me from walking safely. I have to keep moving ad I had a new heart valve fitted in August and am trying to build up my stamina. I was basically told to grin and bear it and he would send me for a xray. I have a job and I need to work to survive but it realy hard with such painful knees. I was told I could not have anti inflamitarys as I took warfarin but was not given any other options

Review titled Usually good - could have done better on this occasion
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I rang at 8.30 on Friday 29/12, explaining that I had shingles; as it’s something I’ve had before I’m familiar with the symptoms and knew that I needed a prescription for anti- viral meds. The medication needs to be taken within 72 hours of the symptoms appearing to be effective, and as the weekend/ bank holiday was approaching and I felt really poorly I was quite anxious. The first receptionist was very kind and informed me she would book me in for a GP telephone consultation that morning. Around 2.00 I called the surgery worried as I had not received a call, the person answering the call this time was totally unsympathetic and dismissive and I was told to wait, with no reassurance that I’d even get a prescription. I finally got a call from a GP at 16.30 and was asked why I not sent a photograph of the rash, I was then sent a link for me to send a photo. I did finally get a prescription at around 5.00. This could have easily been made a less stressful experience with a bit of thought behind it. If you needed an image you could have informed me when I first rang, and sent me the link then, it would have prevented unnecessary repeat contact later down the line. Please don’t tell me I’ll get a call in the morning if you’ve not sure, if it can be anytime that day then fine as long as I know, and if I do call back because of your poor communication then please don’t have an attitude, it’s not helpful to either one of us

Review titled Has got better but improvement still needed
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have poa for my mum and do the main contacts for her health. I find it frustrating that you always have to go back through my mum's medical history with anyone you speak to. For example she does not leave the house yet we always recieve generic messages about vaccinations/ blood tests asking me to call to arrange an appointment when it would be easier to just arrange online. Particularly as she always has these done in her own home. I contacted the doctor in early Nov about her having increased pain. I would have preferred a clinician to see and examine my mum as she is unable to explain her pain due to her brain injury so it is difficult to determine the source (musculoskeletal/neuropathic/etc) and a physical examination may aide this diagnosis yet the doctors always opt just to speak to me instead of seeing her. This last time I spoke to 2 separate pharamcists who said they would up some of her pain killers but neither did this. I had to contact the doctors surgery on 4 separate occasions before I spoke to a doctor who did finally make this change in early January. I also do the contacts for my son. I often recieve text messages from the surgery but it doesn't always say who the message relates to.

Review titled Very Poor Call Handlers Giving Inappropriate Medical Advice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 18 December 2023
Another bad experience due to call handlers. The lady call handler refused to give is an urgent appointment. Instead gave me specific medical advance which was later incorrect. Very rude on the phone and make patients feel very vulnerable and helpless. Nothing has changed with the call handlers over the last 2 years. Although the doctors are great a very sour experience for patients at the hands of the call handlers. They are often aggressive and abrupt making it very unpleasant. The same staff have been working here for years and we would advise training on appropriate etiquette and patient sympathy to please improve an otherwise medically ok practice.
