Review titled GPs very helpful
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 December 2024
Once you can secure an appointment either by telephone or in person, the treatment or advice and assistance is second to none but the issue is securing such an appointment. Surely the system needs to be improved because the GPs I have spoken to were fantastic.

Good Morning We are pleased you are happy with our Clinical Treatment and apologies you are having difficulties with our appointment system. Our appointments are released at 10am each day, including Weekends. These are available both online, through the NHS app & on the phone. Are you aware that 111 is available to give advice, both online and on the phone, and they have access to book directly into our appointments if they feel this is necessary. Also now local pharmacists are commissioned to give advice on Minor injuries and Minor ailments for some simple illnesses and can also prescribe some medications. NHS England have put in place these extra services to help with the pressure on the GP surgeries at this time. Thank you for your understanding Kind Regards Leckhampton Surgery

Review titled Excellent practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Richard Payne - Posted on 14 August 2024
I had a consultation with one of the GP's for a non urgent matter and found the advice, diagnosis, and treatment plan to be excellent and logical. The whole experience from booking through to arranging follow up tests was straight forward and efficient. Contact with all staff was reassuringly professional and thorough.

Review titled Extremely Supportive
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I recently had to visit my elderly parents practice whilst I was visiting. Reception staff so helpful in allowing me time whilst we went through how to have consent on their records, setting up online services for them for me to use and explaining how the appointment system is released and what appointments are available. At a time where I could see you were very busy I am very grateful of the kindness and time you spent with me.

Review titled Well intentioned but busy

I was very satisfied with the advice and appointment, but half an hour wait to see the GP was frustrating. Great doctor, reception team not as helpful, very limited information on waiting time update.

Dear Patient Indeed we are very busy, as is the whole of the NHS at this time. The demand for our services is very high. We are sorry you had to wait. We make our GP appointments 15 minutes long but this is only an approximation. If we have an emergency these appointments can take longer we are afraid. We apologise you were not advised of the wait but often if we have emergencies our Patient Care Advisors will be involved. Once again we apologise Kind Regards Leckhampton Surgery

Review titled Awful reception call pick up times
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 June 2024
The attitude of reception has changed completely in the last few years. Every time I phone it's been up to 40 minutes in the queue, on average, even at off peak times. Sometimes I get to position 1 for it to ring out. I start again, and it's another half hour. The best time I've made it to a pick up is 20 minutes. This is rare. The worst time was 53 minutes. If this is going to be the standard wait time, please provide a free phone number at least. The reception staff have become less friendly, often saying "just get online". Reception is the gateway to the surgery; the doctors and nurses are fine, but the attitude at the front desk has changed radically. It may be that there is increased demand and more aggressive callers, but hanging on the phone for so long to be met with an off attitude makes me mark the surgery down to a one star. It's such a shame. It used to be a really welcoming reception and a quicker response.

Dear patient We are so sorry that you are having to wait on the phone for so long. As you mention we are extremely busy in Primary care at this time and Leckhampton is no exception. The strikes in secondary care are not helping. Patients on the long waiting lists are often trying to contact us to find out what is going on and where on the waiting list they are, we cannot help them with this once they have been referred and this causes much frustration. They are also coming back to us for pain management etc. This does not help with the ordinary patients that want to contact us about Primary care problems and and their ongoing long term conditions. We now place all pre-bookable GP appointments online as well as have them available on the telephone and in person. They are all released now at 10am and unfortunately this does mean that often the online ones are snapped up before the phone lines are able to be answered. Our reception staff do try to keep each call as short as possible and we apologise if this does come over as rude at times. If everyone who can book appointments online are able to do this we would not have the long queues for our telephone line. We apologise that there is no quick fix for this and ask all patients to bear with us. Please also try to utilise the other services available such as local pharmacies who are now contracted to deal with minor illnesses and minor injuries. Thank you for your understanding Kind Regards Leckhampton Surgery

Review titled Hours of frustration
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Steve - Posted on 23 May 2024
Try to book appt via website - only blood tests, contraception and mental health listed as available, with none in next 16 weeks. Phone surgery, long unavoidable introduction, advice to use online services (see above), stay on line 7th in queue, 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd ( it’s now been 25 minutes) then cuts to ringing tone but never answered. Dial in again, long message etc etc, then , wow, 1st in queue, then cuts back to seemingly endless ringing tone. Hang on for over 5 minutes before eventually answered. If the ringing tone is set to occur whilst waiting for previous caller to be dealt with (possibly 6 minutes or so) then this could be explained to the caller, who might then know to hang on still longer, and not assume failure and ring off, only to start again. If it is truly a failure then system needs sorting. After extensive explanation and questioning of my Parkinson’s situation I am eventually granted a GP appt needed to seek referral to a Specialist.

Good Afternoon We are sorry you are having difficulties getting through to us on the phone. We have been told by our phone suppliers that the queue is held in the cloud and when you get to No1 (next inline for an answer) you are then allocated a phone line, which is why it changes to a ringing tone. We have questioned this before and be told that is how the system we have works. We will ask the question again. We do ask our Patient Advisors to keep the calls as short as possible but this is sometimes difficult. GP appointments are released daily for advance booking at 10am. They do get snapped up very quickly though. It is also easier to get a GP call if you do not require a particular GP. All our clinicians will have access to your full notes. Apologies once again Kind Regards Leckhampton Surgery
