  1. Review titled Rude and unhelpful

Rated 1 star out of 5

Is there any point in even writing a review for this place? Look at all the terrible reviews of this place, has anything been put in place or changed from all these bad reviews? No. Even when you go into the surgery where “apparently” no appointments are available, the place is a ghost town with two patients waiting to be seen!! So much for under pressure. This is just a lame excuse now. Sort it out Limes Surgery!!

  2. Review titled Incredibly poor access to medical care

Rated 1 star out of 5

Obtaining an appointment at this surgery is almost impossible even for a child of 16 months and even if they are really not well. If you do manage to get a telephone appointment, you need to wait for a call back that day at any time and if you miss that call for any reason, there are is no prospect of being helped even if the doctor is still available. You are simply directed to 111 (who usually take more than 12 hours to come back even if the situation is fairly serious), the walk in centre 30 minutes away where wait times are in excess of two hours, or a and e where you could be waiting all night. Our medical system and GP surgeries are broken - you are left to resolve medical issues by yourself while trying to work and take care of a young child. There is no-one to help and when you speak to reception they have no resolution aside from "call at 8am again tomorrow" so that you can be subjected to the same ineffectual process again. You can't send your child back to nursery as you are not sure they are well enough but you still have to work. I am really not sure how people are supposed to cope and empathy for your situation is completely lacking from all those involved. The approach is simply "computer says no". So disappointing that this is all we can expect in a country with such advanced medical care. Even typing this review is pointless, as it is unlikely to be read and nothing will change. We are all completely powerless.

Dear Patient We are sorry to hear of your experience and upset caused, as a practice we take these matters very seriously and it is important that we hear when things may have gone wrong as this helps us to learn and make improvements. All parents of children should be contacted on the day and the child seen if an acute problem and we are sorry that this was not the case this time. Please contact the Practice Manager on 01843 222788 for this to be resolved.

  3. Review titled Telephone message

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I hung on the line for 21 minutes hoping to get test results and then gave up. It's not urgent, I'll try again. But this new message you have: 'your call is very important to us, please wait for the next available agent' ... I kept a running total and had heard it 102 times while waiting! These messages are always a bit annoying, I accept that, but the incredible frequency of this one makes waiting almost unbearable.

Dear Patient We are sorry to hear of your experience on the phones. We are a very busy surgery with a huge amount of telephone calls from 8am to 6pm. The NHS are pushing for more patients to have online access to their medical records to help patients access test results, consultations and request prescriptions. This would save patients having to make phone calls to the surgery and anything urgent the surgery would still contact the patient first. We have a patient participation group that patients can join which helps them understand the pressures on the NHS, GP's and surgeries. Helpful suggestions from our group have been very useful for all parties instead of anonymous user reviews. Please contact the Practice Manager or Assistant Manager to discuss this further.

  4. Review titled Receptionists triaging patients

Rated 1 star out of 5

Receptionists at this practice are now most definitely triaging patients. My understanding is that this should not happen. Yesterday I managed to explain that I needed a repeat blood test to check if supplementation is addressing a deficiency identified last March. It was a struggle but the receptionist did not have a queue of people waiting, the phone wasn't ringing and she kindly persevered until she understood the situation. I also tried a couple of weeks ago, only to have a receptionist yell at me that I was confused before eventually running out of steam and admitting 'I'm not medically trained'. On that occasion I was also given erroneous information regarding a procedure and the steps I should follow to book it. A trip to Outpatients' reception at QEQM sorted it out. Considerable perseverance was required on my part. When this happens I feel angry and concerned for all patients of this practice but whatever happens I remain polite. It's a struggle. Harassed receptionists can exude a fair degree of hostility and getting past that barrier requires self-control and patience. I'm running short of these qualities. If I were very ill I think I'd just give up.
