Booked for a Shingles jab. Was told that I am not eligible because of my age and that I need to wait 1 yr after previously having shingles. Very nice nurse who was apologetic and offered me a Pneumonia jab instead. Nice staff. Quick service

  4. Review titled Knee

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Roger Hudgell - Posted on 13 February 2024

I tried calling the Redbourn surgery in January to book an appointment for arthritis knee pain, eventually got through to be told I have to go online to book appointments, I filled in all relevant part's, my problem, medical history, etc. I was given an appointment at doctors in Russell avenue, it didn’t say who with, I said I would like a steroid injection in my knee joint- something I’ve had done before! On arrival I said my name and told to have a seat. 1.5 hours later after repeatedly asking how much longer I was told, “do you know who you are supposed to see” and I don’t know why you were sent here “!! I then drove to my local doctors to be told the person I was supposed to see is on annual leave. I was told someone would contact me , which didn’t happen, I then filled another online appointment form with all my medical history again, was then given another appointment which I went to again didn’t know who with. I went to that was briefly accessed, told yes you need a steroid injection, but I’m not qualified to do so, at which point I asked is there anyone else here that could do it? No was the answer, to which I ask well who can do it? I don’t know was the answer!!! I suggested he emailed the other doctors, but have heard nothing since. If I hadn’t suggested the email I would have walked out being further forward. I feel I have completely wasted my time and the NHS s time. It would a lot easier if you could ring up and speak to someone, explain your situation get an appointment with the right person and be treated, it could all be done in one appointment.!!

  5. Review titled Inefficient surgery

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 February 2024

I was booked for a shingles jab at 10.20. There were no other patients in the clinic but I was still kept waiting for 20 minutes after my appointment time before I was seen. The apology sounded insincere and unconcerned. The screen was not working so I didn’t know how I would be advised to come forward and the WiFi was also not working. It feels like the practice is inefficiently run and no one seems to care. The GPs are good but the patient communication treats patients as a nuisance. I’m sorry to complain but these things need to be said.

I saw one of the nurses at the surgery and she was excellent. She was very professional and made me feel at ease. She explained everything to me very well and I was very happy with the advice I received.

  7. Review titled Totally frustrating experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 February 2024

Really disappointed with the experience and it was very stressful and frustrating. My telephone appointment relating to my son was scheduled between 9-11. When we had still not received a call by 11.10 I called the practice and got through after 15 minutes. I was told that my son was still on the list but the Dr was running late. I asked at what point am I to assume the appointment is not going ahead and was told I would definitely be called by midday. By 12 I had still not been called back by Dr. I rang the practice again and waited on hold for 30 minutes. When I got through the receptionist was very helpful and went to find out what was happening. She said we were still on the list and would be phoned next. Having been waiting since 9am and having to cancel other commitments I had after 11 due not receiving the call asked her to make a note that I would not wait for the call beyond 1 pm. She said they could only guarantee a Morning or afternoon phone call to which I pointed out that it was now almost 12.45 so very definitely the afternoon. I can completely understand that things run late but considering I seem to get regular texts informing me when the practice is closed for training, I can’t understand why I couldn’t have received a text informing me of the delays and reassuring me that we we were still on the list once the 9-11 window had passed. That would have saved a lot of stress and an almost an hour trying to get through to reception to find out what was going on. The receptionist also said that the Dr will prioritise the calls based on the conditions - however the Dr - when she called around 12.45 - told me that she had only read my son’s e-consult details literally just before making the phone call so didn’t know previously what the appointment was about. She did agree with me that it wasn’t ideal to keep someone phoning to discuss an autism diagnosis waiting almost 2 hours past their appointment time with no information. The appointment itself was fine but the whole experience was incredibly frustrating, stressful and inconvenient. A bit of communication woukd have changed everything.

  8. Review titled Fantastic nurse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chris - Posted on 15 February 2024

I needed antibiotics for a persistent dry wheezy cough that I have had for weeks. When I signed in at the doctor's surgery it said I was to see the nurse and not the doctor. I was disappointed at not seeing the doctor but was surprised as to how much the Nurse (Lesley) could do. She examined my chest, back, throat and ears, asked me some relevant questions and gave me a prescription for antibiotics. Also suggesting I buy some Night nurse. I was very impressed with Lesley.

  9. Review titled Friendly and efficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paul Batchelor - Posted on 27 February 2024

Went in for a vaccination having received a text message saying I needed one. A short and comfortable 5 min wait and I was called in by a friendly nurse who explained the situation, gave me my jab and sent me on my way. In and out in 10 mins with a smile and laugh thrown in for good measure. Fantastic service. Thank you.

  10. Review titled Caring GPs

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Gina - Posted on 15 March 2024

Whilst I tend to see whichever GP is available given that there are very few appointments available, I do feel that the level of care given by the GPs is of a high standard. My last appointment was due to a specific concern I had but the doctor still asked lots of questions to rule out other possibilities which was very reassuring. I appreciate the time he took to understand my issues, how they’re affecting me and the steps he took to help rectify them including a very prompt follow up with test results and prescription.
