Review titled Lovely staff
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I was lucky in getting my appointment and being called in early for it. The phones were relentless the whole time I was sat waiting. The nurse I saw was lovely, chatty, upbeat and efficient. This surgery is struggling to provide appointments, just like many others in the country at the minute. If the staff can help and accommodate though, they do!

Dear Sally, thank you for your feedback. We would like to reassure you that our clinicians and GP’s are seeing patients face to face where clinically relevant. Our clinicians are trained to assess and treat patients using a variety of methods including on the telephone, online video call as well as face to face. Unfortunately a patients’ condition can deteriorate after being consulted with and therefore planning and safety netting forms part of the consultation should a patients health deteriorate. We are sorry that you are not happy with the service that was provided to you. The Meadows Surgery

Review titled Confused
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I had appointment on 30th Dec for a stroke assessment. Had attended 2 weeks earlier for blood to be taken in readiness for my appointment. On 29 Dec I fell injuring my ankle and was limping badly. Doctor was very pleasant and asked when I had my stroke. Explained I'd never had one. She couldn't understand why this appointment had been made. She said let's forget that and look at your ankle. She examined it and said you need an X-ray. Then referred me to Nene Park for an MRI scan. I am still waiting for them to send me an appointment and I am struggling to get about. What a waste of time for you and me taking blood for no reason at all.

Dear patient, we apologise for any confusion caused and would ask you to contact us to advise us of your details in order for us to check your medical record and investigate why you were added for a stroke assessment. We are glad this enabled for care to be provided following your fall and would recommend calling Kettering General Hospital who will advise on waiting times for your MRI as this is unfortunately out of our control. Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. The Meadows Surgery.

Review titled Is the patient the Problem
Rated 4 stars out of 5

Pop Generally prompt and efficient treatment following multiple visits after a difficult start trying to secure appointments for post operative care. This was only achieved after intervention by Corby Urgent Care Centre and a surgeon at Kettering General Hospital following a visit to A & E. Also I am incensed by the text sent to tell me that if I am 3 minutes late I will risk losing my appointment slot. In all the appointments I have had recently I have always been on time. But I have had to wait for between 5 and 20 minutes to be called???? Rules and regulations it seems count for more than patient care. Despite the difficult conditions faced by the NHS and GP practices which we all understand and make allowances for, this kind of unhelpful management directive undoes all the good sentiment towards your service to the British public.

Dear patient, thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you are generally happy with the care we have provided to you for your post operative care. We have had an increasing number of patients attending late for appointments which has resulted in complaints from other patients who were then kept waiting for their appointments. Furthermore this resulted in staff members over running on their shifts with consequences of missing their breaks and finishing work late. In order to protect both patients and staff and to ensure we continue to provide safe care, the decision was made to inform patients that they may not be seen if they were late for their appointment. We apologise for how the wording of this information may have been perceived by patients. We also apologise for waiting times for patients, our clinicians have a set amount of time to deal with a patient issue but sometimes complexities of consultations mean some appointments overrun. Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. The Meadows Surgery.

Review titled Helpful assistance
Rated 4 stars out of 5

After 230 redials I finally managed to get a telephone appointment with a GP (actually it wasn't a GP). When I did get through I had to wait anout 10 mons for the phone to be answered. This appointment system is dire on so many levels. How would an elderly person ever get through? For someone feeling very unwell 8am may be too early. This needs changing urgently. The appointment was on the phone but the person I spoke to decided he wanted to see me and after an exam with a stethoscope decided.i had a chest infection and needed antibiotics. This has worked well and I feel much better so overall I am pleased with the service but please sort out the appointment booking system. How about ringing at anytime the day before for next day appointments ? That way the switchboard won't be jammed.

Dear patient, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We appreciate the frustration that patients have getting through on the telephone lines. To help with this, we recruited another receptionist to enable more support and cover during our peak times. We have promoted online services in order to increase patient access so that some appointments can be booked online and prescription requests can be made online rather than contacting the practice by telephone. GP practices have many other services supporting patient care such as; pharmacist consultations, 111 and urgent care centres for patients who need urgent on the day care. We are further supported with extended access appointments, Physios, Mental Health and Social Prescribers. Unfortunately the sheer volume of patient demand means that our lines are busy throughout the day and we are working hard to meet the needs of our patients, even if we booked for the next day it would mean even less availability on the day. We are pleased you were happy with the care we provided to you. Thank you for your feedback. The Meadows Surgery.
