Review titled A dreadful state of affairs for elderly contact

I have a 91 year old father who I am concerned about who is registered for home visits. I have authority to have contact with his gp. I went to fill in an online form to seek a visit for him as I had medical concerns (I’m not local). The medical form was not available - which they appear to do at certain times when they get busy, so the only way to contact was their general admin form. I filled this in with all the detail about my concerns and gave my number for contact. 2 days later I called and they say they sent my dad a text for him to make a GP appt. What didn’t get understood? So I say can we have a home visit and they say I need to complete the correct online form the next morning to request a home visit. I ask if they could put the details I’ve sent under the doctor’s nose rather than resubmitting identical details in a different online form should it be available tomorrow! Apparently not as they’re too busy. I ask what I do if it’s not available tomorrowand they said to call - which is what I was doing. This is utter madness and is so wrong. My dad is lucky he has someone to spend this amount of time trying to have GP contact - many aren’t that fortunate. What has this service become? Awful. The one upside was that the lady on Reception was lovely, but, you could tell, equally appalled

My family been with this practice for the last 10 years. Now I am going to change it, as I really disappointed with them. They never have an appointments. Today I need an appointment for my disability son, they offered me to go to walk in centre where I have to wait minimum 2 hours. Avoid, just avoid this practise!

Usually I need gp appointment once per year or even less. I am trying to book it earlier in the morning. After 2 hours receptionist calling me back to let me know that no more appointments left. Staff members are root, talking with me like I am disturbing them. Besides that they still registering new patients? For what? It’s ridiculous…..

Every time I have called the surgery, the receptionist has been extremely rude and it feels like we are disturbing them. I am in need of a blood test and a smear test but feel unable to book anything. Working for the health services as well, I remain disappointed with the service red practice has to offer which impacts on care as reluctant to call for my pending blood test and smear test. I am acutely aware that this can be a tricky role and receptionists deal with difficult situations but this has been an ongoing issue even though you are being super kind and polite to them. They undoubtedly contribute to health inaccessibility and inequality as well as the unsustainable situation our emergency care is as patients cannot access the care they need at this GP practice.

Phoned at 11am. Pleasant receptionist. Doctor called back within an hour. Prescription sent to chemist and treatment started within 3 hours!!

We waited 30 hours for a prescription for my partner which the doctor said it would be in the chemist within an hour but wasn't signed until yesterday evening 25.07.2023 after the chemist had closed and its now the 26th July 2023 I had to ring the chemist twice first time wasn't in 5 minutes later it was in.

Been trying for 2 weeks to get an appointment. On line early in the morning but it’s just impossible to get an appointment or leave a message. You’re in a queue then suddenly they’re fully booked. What is the answer? I’m not going private but angry now. It’s not fair

My neighbour who is unwell has no internet or phone to book appointments and needs one urgently but went in today and told has to be done online, she doesnt have family either so what is she expected to do? I think very unfair

Huge thank you to the whole team working at Red Practice for your hard work and care. You have always provided excellent care to my family and did so again today with my daughter. There is so much negative press around GPs at the moment but I can only praise the whole practice. Thank you.
