I recently had an appointment with my GP Surgery. I was so happy with the consultation. I always worry about my blood pressure. When I attended for the appointment clinician never rushed and always took the time to listen to me. They show a lot of empathy, care, and concern. Shrewsbury Road Surgery is one of the best practices in Newham. From the reception team to the doctors, nurses, practice manager, and the rest of the staff, they go above and beyond in caring for me and my family. The reception team is always welcoming, efficient, and ready to assist with any inquiries or appointments. The practice manager is exceptional, ensuring everything runs smoothly. They have always helped me, no matter the situation. It’s a fantastic team working at Shrewsbury Road Surgery, and I truly hope they continue to grow and thrive.

Inconsistent online portal availability: the portal does not have a defined start or end time for requests, and this lack of clarity makes it difficult for patients to plan. the opening hours seem to change based on convenience, with some days starting at 9 am and closing by 2 pm, while on other days, it remains inaccessible even after 9:30 am. additionally, appointment requests are often blocked around 11 am due to reaching maximum capacity. a clear and consistent schedule displayed on the portal would be helpful for patients. lack of transparent communication: if an administrative inquiry is submitted, patients often receive a text stating they were called, but no actual call is made. when patients request a morning call-back (as indicated in the appointment request form), doctors frequently call outside these hours and leave a message claiming there was no response. the nhs portal only shows messages sent by the surgery but does not display patient responses, making it difficult to track interactions. it appears that surgery management is not cross-checking these communications. unprofessional behaviour from admin staff: when patients raise concerns about these issues, administrative staff often respond in an unprofessional manner, including raising their voices or dismissing patient queries both over the phone and in person. additionally, staff members seem to spend significant time conversing with the surgery manager rather than addressing patient needs. a focus on improving professionalism, communication, and accountability would greatly benefit the patient experience.

Your input is valuable and helps us identify areas where we need to improve. I would like to address each of the points you've raised: 1. Inconsistent Online Portal Availability: We understand your frustration with the varying availability of the online portal. The portal is designed to be accessible during surgery hours. During these hours, it’s available for medical concerns and GP appointment requests. However, there are times when the portal may be paused temporarily due to reaching maximum capacity for non-urgent requests. When this happens, a message will appear indicating that access has been paused. For urgent medical concerns outside of the portal’s availability, we recommend calling 111 for urgent care or 999 in case of an emergency. We understand the lack of clear start and end times can be inconvenient, and we hope the portal provider will improve notification clarity in the future. For administrative queries like sick notes, test results, and prescriptions, the portal remains available throughout surgery hours. 2. Lack of Transparent Communication: We apologise for any confusion regarding communication for administrative inquiries. Our staff always aim to provide an estimated callback time when requested, but we acknowledge that there have been instances where the timing has not aligned with your expectations. Calls are recorded for quality purposes but are not stored in medical records, unlike text or email messages. If you received a message stating a call was made when no call occurred, this will be investigated further. Regarding appointment preferences, when patients request a morning or afternoon slot, we aim to accommodate these preferences, but we recognise there have been cases where appointments occurred outside of the requested times. We are reviewing our scheduling procedures to better align with patient expectations. 3. Unprofessional Behaviour from Admin Staff: We take concerns about professionalism seriously and expect all staff to communicate with respect and courtesy. If administrative staff require assistance in handling patient queries, our Practice Manager is available to provide guidance. We are committed to ensuring our staff maintain professionalism and prioritize patient needs. Regarding the time spent conversing with the surgery manager, the management team’s role is to support staff and improve overall service. We continually reinforce professionalism and effective communication within our team to ensure every patient has a positive experience. Once again, we truly appreciate your feedback. I have been a patient at Shrewsbury Road Surgery for a while now, and I can’t recommend it enough. The doctors are always so professional, thorough, and really take the time to listen to your concerns. The entire staff at the reception or on the phone are friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help in any way they can. Whether you need assistance with appointments or have a question, they go above and beyond to ensure everything is smooth and easy. My last visit to my surgery snd the experience with the team was fantastic. I was so happy with the treatment given and I was included in the management of my medical problem. Thank you so much team!

I going for my pregnancy checkup. They ask my book appointment by call or online. If I m there you need book appointment immigetly . I called ok b time 12:00 . After 1 hour call waiting then ask me appointment open after 2:00 . So can I wait 1 hour again ?? It's not fare .. not good service

Went for my flu vaccine and the Nurse was so friendly and professional. I hardly felt the needle and she was so very calm ut put me at ease. I am very impressed with the Nurse and the Practice

Impossible to contact this clinic because they dont advertise a telephone number and, at the time of writing, the number on their appointment letter is unresponsive/out of action (0207 363 9416)

I accidentally ended up with gp path finder clinic while using nhs app on line and ended up getting removed from Shrewsbury clinic. I was so upset and after having a sleepless night and with the help of lovely ladies at the surgery I got re registered with them I have been with this clinic since 1983 and have always been happy with the service they have given to me Specially lately I am getting extra care and I am shocked myself at times to expect this kind of service from them They have with very prompt with my requests I would never ever dream of leaving this clinic and hoping to stay with them until my last breath I would not swap them with anyone in my lifetime and as far as I am concerned I would Rate them as one of the best clinic in Newham this is not me just saying this I get the same remark from my family members and friends who use thier practice as well So well done to everyone at the clinic including the gp's and keep up the good work going forward

Unfortunately I was late for a nurses appointment yesterday and I could not be seen. I had to rearrange it in a few weeks time. I got a call this morning to say if I'm free a slot has opened up today and I jumped at the chance. They remembered my situation and tried to get me seen ASAP not delaying the test. I thought this was extremely considerate and proactive. Anyone else I imagine would have just left it given that the appointment was rescheduled for a later date. Overall impressed with this level of service. Thank you!
