I am appalled at the care at this practice since moving to Stanmore. The worst experience yet was my daughter being mis diagnosed as ‘just teething’ when I brought her in with a fever of 39, mentioned she had committed that morning and wasn’t feeding as usual. We eventually had to take her to A&E that night were she was diagnosed with rsv (bronchitis). The gp at Stanmore medical was so dismissive and extremely negligent. I will be making a complaint directly to the practice with other specific failings.

Rang for urgent appointment, wanted ages on line, to be told every appointment has to made online. This is not stated on website! Do not seem to want to see any patients, sent my husband to Pinner medical centre when he contacted them.

Thank you for making a post and I am sorry that you feel you have not received service from us. We have had the online platform for submitting requests for GP appointments in place for a number of years. This allows your request to be clinically triaged and you will be signposted accordingly. As an extension to our access, sometimes appointments will be offered at the local GP Access Centre (Pinn Medical Centre), at our extended hours clinic in Belmont Health Centre, with a Pharmacy or at the Practice. I will look into the details of the website and make any necessary amendments or clarifications as necessary. I hope the above information helps. Vikki, Practice Manager

My experience - The booking system needs improvement, there is just a 30 minute window to book an appointment from 9am-9.30am. I failed to complete the form in that timeframe and the system timed-out and had to wait until the next day to try again - it closes at 9.30am on a Friday so you will have to wait until Monday to try again. Such a terrible system to have to navigate. I have been with this practice for over 20 years, and have experienced a serious decline in continuity of care. But especially post covid. Mainly due to the fact that the GPs do not communicate, therefore care is not consistent. The biggest failure and let down is the frontline Reception staff and the Practice Management. It is so disheartening to see that I can identify with most of the reviews having experienced similar issues. Receptionists are often rude and dismissive. The Practice Management has been working at the surgery for years and is aware of the shortcomings, and negative reviews. So why has there been no improvement in the service?

Thank you for your feedback, and I am sorry to hear that your experience at the Practice has been difficult. The booking system we have in place is in line with contractual requirements in order that we can clinically triage, ensure you are seeing the most appropriate clinician at first contact and keep a waiting list if required. This system also allows for some continuity of care although this will very much depend on availability of the chosen clinican (eg how many sessions they work, or if they are on leave when an appointment is required etc). The times the online platform is available is very much down to demand vs capacity. In relation to your feelings about staff and Practice Management, I am sorry you feel disheartened. My elderly mother was seen by an agency, not a regular practice GP, who was very kind and helpful to mum. Due to some health issues that had arisen after booking a holiday, mum is not able to travel, as further tests should be undertaken. So, we asked the duty Dr if she would write a letter for us to present to the holiday company to enable us to have the refund of mum’s booking. She told us she could write a letter stating my mother’s health at the weekend and it would be ready for collection on Monday. However, the receptionist on duty that day (Friday) would not let us pay for the letter and told us to be back on Monday for the letter and pay for it in cash. I phoned Stanmore Medical Centre on Wednesday, giving another 2 days for the letter to be ready. Naively, thinking it would be ok, to my surprise and dismay, not only there wasn’t any letter for my mum, I was also told that I have to pay for the letter first and that the letter would take up to 6 weeks to be ready, which, by then, it would be too late to cancel next week’s holidays. The unwillingness and lack of interest of the staff in this Surgery is behond understanding. The misinformation and unprofessionalism is unbelievable. The staff and doctors do not communicate. These doctors are paid an extraordinary amount of money and have so little care or interest for the patient’s wellbeing and financial struggles, not sympathy. The staff are not helpful and not kind. They could have helped, but refused to do anything, instead just told us that rules are rules. Very sad, no vocational skills anymore. No wonder why so many patients are unhappy with Stanmore Medical Centre. Once I was seeing a doctor at this practice and had to wait for doctor to answer a call on her mobile phone. How unprofessional is that? Again no interest in the patient’s wellbeing. Unbelievable! 😔

This week responses from the administration of the practice seemed to be much easier and more efficient.There appears to be a new voicemail message on telephone contact and I did not have to wait very long in the queue before someone spoke to me.

The klick system is always offline. Surely it should be available all day so people can enquire? Most people are on their way to work when the system opens so can never get an appointment. I checked the system before and after 9am on Thursday and it already says check back on Friday! Absolutely appalling. The system is not fit for working people.

Thank you for your comment. We are sorry to hear this was your experience. The online system opens at 9am and is available until capacity is reached. If patients are ever unable to use or access the online service then a call can be made to the surgery on the usual number where a member of the Reception team will be happy to assist/signpost as necessary. After weeks of calling, completing on line forms seeing a paramedic & a clinician I was finally diagnosed with a chest infection & given antibiotics for a week, instructed that should I still feel unwell to see a GP to arrange a chest X-ray spent nearly an hour on the phone again completed the online form Twice requested a call back… then was sent the old chestnut of their generic message to call 111 due to them being at full capacity…. It’s a complete joke of a system…. We don’t have receptionists anymore there are called “Care Navigators” who makes this stuff up…. Meanwhile people are becoming more frustrated more unwell & more needing a system that is actually patient friendly….a couple of GP’s would be much appreciated aswell…

Since become Stanmore Medical Centre, this surgery has become a farce. Booking an appointment always used to be a simple process and I never had to wait very long. Been with this surgery for almost 30 years. Now I just want to leave. Having to book online is a nightmare. It’s suppose to make things more accessible apparently but it’s Saturday morning and I’ve just tried, only to get a warning that their ‘Forms’ booking service is only open Monday to Friday 9-5. Hahaha. What the actual!! I really have nothing good to say about this surgery now. I used to be the envy of all my friends and family before Stanmore took over but now, hahaha. This surgery is just a joke. Nothing they have done to ‘improve’ things has made life better for the customer. I think they are just trying to drive people away to go private as their methods are exasperating. My HRT should be used continuously, but it’s so difficult to get an appointment that twice now, I have needed up having to miss over a weeks worth of treatments, because I can’t get in to speak to a doctor. I even have to go in and take my own blood pressure before hand, which I do; all the doctor should then have to do is check my history, check my blood pressure and prescribe, but no! I had to have an appointment to speak with a doctor. And having to do this means I then have to be on standby for hours on the day that the doctor is going to ring me. Therefore my working day is made to come second to theirs. My time, second to theirs. Everything about this process is so very very wrong.

This practice is an absolute disgrace. I’ve been trying to get an appointment for over a week. Online booking systems are down and impossible to get through to anyone over the phone. Literally have no idea how to access any care with this GP. May god help all the patients at this GP to receive appropriate and timely care. Never found it so difficult to get an appointment
