  1. Review titled The worst

Rated 1 star out of 5

Honestly, just save yourselves the time and find another GP. their website is broken, you will call for an appointment, and after they take everything you say they will just tell you to call tomorrow and this will go on and on until you switch to a different GP. save yourself the headache and find a different GP, I know I am.

  2. Review titled Worst I’ve experienced

Rated 1 star out of 5

by John - Posted on 28 June 2024

This place is the most useless bag of bones. Just been told to give up on trying to ever get an appointment and to just head to walk in centre at another hospital from now on. What a waste of money to keep this place going. 0 patient care, and 0 ability to act. I thought Speedwell Practice in the same building was bad but this is just ridiculous. Also it was so casually said as if it’s obvious there is no point in trying to get an appointment, like I’m silly for even trying. Waste of money.

  3. Review titled Terrible practice, awful service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mariana Dodourova - Posted on 18 May 2024

Terrible practice, absolutely awful! I have been with them for over 20 years but the service has deteriorated beyond description since the Covid pandemic. Prescriptions are delayed with no explanation given, in-person appointments are a thing of the past, admin staff are unhelpful, but above all it is impossible to make an appointment, any appointment!!! The receptionists say that they cannot make an appointment if you go to the reception - you have to call at 8:30am or complete an e-consult form. Sounds easy, doesn't it? Not really - never mind how early you call in the morning, all appointments are gone. Appointments cannot be pre-booked, i.e. if you want an appointment you have to keep calling at 8:30am everyday. How does this work for people who go to work or have childcare?? Then there is the e-consult form - it is either temporarily unavailable or all appointments for the day are gone. Really?! Ok, I tried every day for early 50 days - at 8:30am, 8:45, 9am, 9:30am - and each time the appointments were already gone!!! How is this possible at 8:30am, given that appointments cannot be pre-booked? I can evidence my claim as every time I took screenshots showing date and time. In short, it is impossible to make an appointment. I tried to speak to the receptionists and explained all of the above but the response was that "this is the new NHS system". Doubt it. This practice defeats the purpose of its existence, which is to reduce the number of patients going to hospitals. In fact, a patient of this practice has no choice but to go to a hospital if they need medical attention. Absolutely ridiculous, dangerous and must be investigated.

  4. Review titled Difficult to get appointments

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I had my pneumococcal vaccine 2:40, 18 Dec 2023 at 13:30 to 14:30, then my Shingles vaccine as I'm 65yrs old. Cough started 3 weeks later - pneumonia. March '24 needed antibiotics + chest x-rays showed left lung pneumonia). Then needed 2nd + 3rd antibiotics - which didn't work I had to go to A&E following Monday 18/3/24 (7hr wait 100 visitors) at Barnet Hospital. They gave me blood tests, chest x-rays they measured my oxygen saturation (I had trouble breathing) and put me onto a drip as I was continuously sick for 2 days previously so put on am IV Drip and prescribed a week of anti-sick tablets, also another week of anti-biotic. The next day I had to request a steroid spray 'Clenil Midulite' from my GP to be taken 2x per day x 2 doses. I'm slowly getting better but I think it's all because I had the vaccines in December?! I have an ultra scan appointment next Saturday 20 for my kidneys at Barnett Hospital.

  6. Review titled Extremely danger

Rated 1 star out of 5

I had an appointment with my GP at Torrington Practice Group where I was given medication and was told by GP to make sure I will come back in 30 days to see him and not take medication for more than 30days as it is highly addictive. What I have experienced after 30 days was shocking. I’ve called them to book an appointment, there was no option to book one, only the option I had was e-consultant link which was all the time unavailable. I had to repeat what my GP said when I’ve seen him last time, so I was told they will send a prescription to my nominated pharmacy where I can collect it. I couldn’t believe what she said, she was just about to give me medication I was taking last 30 days and which I’m not allowed to take for more than 30days. These people are extremely danger and out of their mind !!! Then I was told somebody will call me to discuss this and book an appointment, but they never did. What I have experienced during the phone call was very bad and rude, she told me she spoke to the doctor, then again doctor what said about, while I was on hold and then at the very end of it she asked me who is my GP and if I have recently seen him. Seems receptionists have an instructions with how to get rid of you off the phone, they don’t care about your health or situation at all as my conversation with them has clearly confirmed this when I was on hold twice while she went to talk to a doctor and got back to me first with sending my prescription online, then with that somebody will call me back, which they never did, which means they never opened my file or look into it when at the end of the phone call she didn’t know the name of the doctor I have seen last time, what medication I was on ….etc I suggest to be very careful with Torrington GP group as they can cause serious damage to your health by taking very unresponsible actions without looking into your file or having knowledge about your illnesses

  8. Review titled Poor office staff

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 March 2023

The e-consult system is an excuse to be rude and unhelpful. Receptionists are obstructive, unhelpful and make it impossible to get anything sorted or to get medical care. You get no information about your enquiries then when you ask for an update you are told to fill in another e-consult form. They are using this system to make it impossible to get help. I have filled in 5 e-cosult forms in the quest to get a prescription that was requested from my consultant neurologist and I have been blocked at every turn. There needs to be a serious investigation into how this surgery is operating and the treatment of the patients by the office staff. If by luck you get to see a doctor they are good so it is such a shame that the office staff are so abominably rude.

Review titled Torrington Park Group Practice

Dear Daniel, I’m sorry that you feel like you have received poor service from the surgery. Firstly, our staff do not give out test results unless it states clearly that it does not require any action. If the results are something that needs to be discussed with a clinician, our staff will say your results needs to be discussed in an appointment. Due to being overwhelmed, we turn off the eConsult function and there is not a set time when it goes off. However, patients are still able to call the surgery and get an appointment on the same day if they believe it’s urgent. We have hired extra staff to deal with the extra workload that the surgery is facing. The last few years have been very challenging for staff, and we understand it’s been challenging for patients too. We are committed at Torrington to offering the best service possible. As one of the manager’s, I am always available to talk to unhappy patients or patients are free to email the surgery to address their concerns. Our preferred method of communication is via eConsult. It helps clinicians with triaging patient queries and signposting them to the right service. It also brings down the queuing time on the phone so that patients who need to contact us urgently can do so. We understand that some patients are unable to do eConsults for various reasons. We have always helped this cohort of patients by doing eConsults on their behalf. Most GP surgeries since COVID have asked patients to send prescriptions via email. This is a way of having an audit trail between the surgery, the patient, or the chemist. This is also a great way for us to see if there are any issues with prescriptions we can identify, such as prescriptions coming in too late from the chemist. We also do understand some patients may need their medication more urgently, so we will then assist them with ordering their medication. Medical reports often contain information about patients. As a surgery, we must make sure that the patient consents to us disclosing their information. Some medical reports do not fall under the scope of non-NHS work, and we do it as additional work. Therefore, the turnaround time can sometimes be slightly longer than a patient would ideally like it to be. If there’s any more problems, feel free to call the surgery and ask to speak to one of the managers. Alternatively,, please enquire about joining the PPG meetings. This will allow you have an open forum to discuss any issues that you may have.

  10. Review titled Atrocious with prescriptions

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Fay Gooding - Posted on 17 March 2023

Since 2014 I have struggled to get prescriptions for the correct medications, in the correct dosages, or even for a full month. I have made many complaints, and my emails are completely ignored. I have been left without medication for Bipolar disorder repeatedly, and they lie on their website saying a prescription takes 72 hours... I've not had a prescription sooner than 14 days in years. I've had all sorts of excuses for this, but it is their default to never accept responsibility. If they were decent people they would change their website so people are aware that even an incorrect prescription will take 14 days minimum. Nobody with bipolar should have to send emails literally begging for their prescription. If and when something terrible happens, I will be blamed for 'not being compliant' despite the fact I have no medication available to take on a regular basis. If you have any say or a better option do not register at this surgery, especially if you have a potentially life threatening need for regular, reliable prescriptions! I can now no longer work, and I can't see that changing anytime soon because I simply cannot depend on any medication being issued correctly or in time. Honestly just atrocious. In September last year alone, I collected my prescription 3 times as they attempted to get it correct... I ended up with 24 and a half days worth of medication in total! These people are an absolute joke.
