    Once again the front desk staff at Victoria Medical Centre were rude, unhelpful and inefficient. I arrived on time for an appointment, followed a sign at reception saying wait to be called, and wasn't called. Waited 25 minutes then queried progress and was told because I hadn't checked in I had been marked down as 'Did Not Attend' and the appointment was cancelled. No effort to try to reschedule or see if the problem could be solved on the spot (simply a typhoid booster shot). Staff basically accused me of being the problem. Seems this place is run for the admin staff, not for the patients - staff who are badly trained, have bad attitudes and/or aren't suitable for this type of work. I'm leaving for another surgery after finding these guys consistently rude and unhelpful for years. Don't register with these people if you can avoid it!

    Dear Sir, I have spoken to the staff who were on duty at the time of your appointment to investigate what went wrong. We do not have a sign for patients to follow at reception stating ‘wait to be called’ as you refer to in your comment. There is a sign for patients arriving for their audiology appointment clearly advising where they need to wait (Inhealth Audiology ONLY) which is separate to our front desk but you was not at the medical centre to receive audiology services. You did not check yourself in at reception or on our automated self-check-in device. When you did finally approach the receptionists (who had no idea you was waiting to be seen until you spoke with them) you shouted at them because of the length of time you had been waiting, called them stupid and walked out. You did not give them the opportunity to offer you an alternative. We apologise for any inconvenience we unintentionally caused. Please contact the surgery if you wish to arrange another appointment.

    Quick telephone system at the surgery with not long waiting,really good service at my old surgery they would take forever to pick up,very quick here.

    Unpleasant reception as tradition seemingly demands. Sadly this has not changed over the years. Elderly people take slightly more time. Patients are by definition unwell. The lack of humanity and kindness is disturbing.

    Dear patient, We are most concerned with your recent comment. We treat every patient regardless of age with as much time as they need. We have an ‘on the day’ appointment facility specifically for the fact that we recognise patients by definition are unwell and some patients need acute urgent attention. Our complaints officer would welcome a conversation with you directly by contacting the practice to investigate who it was that demonstrated such a lack of humanity and kindness.     I have been a patient for 16 years, always receiving excellent service. I have always found the care provided by the team to be of the highest quality and I have developed a strong sense of trust in their doctors and staff. The practice offers a comprehensive range of services that meet my healthcare needs, and the doctors and nurses have always been kind, professional and attentive to my concerns and questions, as well as making it easy for me to access and manage my healthcare. I feel that the way the practice is managed has always shown how much they care and respect their patients. I have always felt heard and respected. This is invaluable. Their Administration team recently provided assistance in a professional and honest manner. The help was crucial, they flagged an issue and were open to discuss it and help me, which the did. One more instance where their exceptional care comes through.

    I have been with this practice for years, and I really like it.But I had a terrible experience today while having my blood taken. The nurse in charge of that, was always cold but she was also alway professional. Today she almost inserted the needle in my arm, without cleaning the area where she was going to poke. I politely asked her to do it, blaming my own paranoia. She sighed and was irritated but did use hand sanitizer on my skin before inserting the needle. The insertion today was particularly painful and when she asked if I was ok, I answered no. Almost 2hours later, I can barely move my arm, and the blood spot on the cotton ball she taped on my skin after the test, is Huge. I have never experienced anything like that before.

    We are sorry that you had a negative experience whilst receiving a blood test at the surgery. Phlebotomist are given extra time to ensure infection control procedures are completed prior to each patient entering the clinical room and when a blood test is completed. The medical centre considers infection control a top priority. We are therefore very surprised you did not feel comfortable with the general standard of cleanliness. If your arm is still experiencing any discomfort or pain please do contact the practice and we will arrange a review for you as quickly as possible.

    I have had blood tests done at the surgery several times. I have been very impressed by the professionalism of the practitioner. She pays intense attention to the personal details, the requested tests and the labelling of the phials. She does not allow any interruption to distract her. I feel in safe hands and I have full confidence in her work and precision.
