Review titled Wishing the receptionists are not too snappy !
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 03 February 2023
I am not keen being having a telephone appointment with the g.p. because, I do not believe that a doctor can easily diagnosed a patient by having a telephone conversations and if your problem need to seen then, you have to sent a picture of it . It's sad to think of how many years of studying medicine you ended up diagnosing a patient over phone conversation and on the photos. But, worst of all is the attitude of the receptionists ! They maybe trained to be ubrrupt to any telephone calls that trying to get an appointment to the g.p but, the most degrading of all is when a receptionists asking you what is your problem that you need an appointment ( after waiting in a queue for over 30 minutes ) then, they have the audicity of saying no you can only see a nurse or worst, there is no appointments left for that day eventhough, you are on the phone since 8.30 in the morning and got connected by around 9 in which the receptionists to tell you to ring tomorrow because all appointments full for that day, with a very annoyed tone of why tou have to ring them. In my experiences the Whiteacre Medical Centre's receptionists are rude and unprofessional towards the parents. Since the pandemic this medical centre has gone down to the gutter. Nevermind seeing the pictures of quite a few g.p's proudly hang on wall at the centre but, to get an appointment, first, you have to pass all the annoyed tone of voice from the receptionist, then, you have to proved that whatever is your medical problem that you are dying from it ( heaven forbid ) before you are be given an telephone conversation appointment of whoever gp of that day.

Dear Patient Thank-you for taking the time to post a review, we take all comments and observations posted seriously and will act upon where required. Since Covid the way practices operate have changed and are constantly under review, the majority of practices now use a triage system and our administration team follow a triage procedure as endorsed by the practice GP Partners. This procedure is aimed at assisting us to direct the patient to the most appropriate clinician/service, e.g. a patient may call with a issue that can be dealt with by a specialist first contact physio or treatment may be best picked up by our Advanced Nurse Practitioner instead of a GP. All patients booked in for a telephone consultation will initially have a discussion with the GP and if the GP feels the patient requires a face-to-face appointment then they will book in for a face to face appointment. Your comments regarding the receptionists and the appointment system are noted and will be discussed at the next practice meeting. Kind Regards Jayne Merriman Practice Manager

Review titled Outstanding General Practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Brendan Young - Posted on 27 February 2023
I have had a number of contacts with Whiteacres recently and the care and communication has been outstanding. From the frontline Reception staff to the Clinicians, I have found everyone to be very helpful and responsive. Clinical consultations have been of a high standard and marked by attentive listening and excellent Shared Decision Making. I fully understand that telephone contact can take a while but I appreciate that the Reception staff are dealing with an increasing demand for Clinicians time. In addition excellent patient and people skills, the Whiteacre waiting area is very well managed and full of useful patient & carer information from local Voluntary Organisations which is organised in attractive displays. Since joining Whiteacres Practice in 2019, the standards of patient care and caring have been maintained ((even though the Pandemic!) I am proud to acknowledge that my wife an myself belong to Whiteacres Practice and you have been and continue to be an outstanding example of an excellent well led Primary Care practice.

Review titled Are there any GPs in this practice any more?
Rated 1 star out of 5
by FrankT - Posted on 23 February 2023
I agree with some of the more negative recent reviews of this practice. The fact that the surgery has failed to respond to any of them tells its own tale. Though both my wife and I have long-term conditions it has become impossible to see a doctor: instead, we are fobbed off with ancillary staff who are not always able to help. The 8.30am scramble on the phone for a telephone appointment is a disgrace, and the practice will not book an appointment any further ahead even for a follow-up or prescription review. If you ring after 9am you are told to ring again next day. I am truly uncertain if GPs actually work there any more, except perhaps to sign prescriptions. None of those listed on their website was present on the two occasions when I received my Covid injections, though a retired GP was. The rest of those giving the jabs were non-medical staff. The practice does not respond to emails even when it is they who have requested information from the patient, and on the rare occasions when blood tests are performed they do not inform you of the results. Some years ago, I made a formal complaint to the senior GP and was assured by him in writing that the practice was about to improve access, appointments and much else. None of it has happened. It is only because friends tell me that their own practice is as bad or worse that I have not sought to register elsewhere. Some of the fault undoubtedly lies with national policy, but there is no evidence of local effort to ameliorate matters. And before anyone tells me that GPs are very hard-pressed and overworked nowadays I would say to them that on the contrary GPs have never had it so good, with far lower patient list sizes, far higher numbers of support staff, and far higher pay. It's high time for Whiteacres to shape up.

Dear Patient I am sorry to read your comments regarding the service that Whiteacres provides to our patients but we take on board comments from reviews and act upon them positively. However, I would like to confirm that all vaccinations are carried out by qualified clinicians and at no time have non-medical staff administered COVID Injections. We constantly review our services and I wish to ensure you that all of the team at Whiteacres are constantly striving to improve our service despite the increasing demands we face and our ever increasing list size. Thank-you for taking the time to leave your review, I will ensure that they are discussed at the next Practice meeting. Kind Regards Jayne Merriman Practice Manager
