  1. Review titled Thank you

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I attended the clinic 8 yesterday @ 15.00hrs. I was given some unexpected and unwelcome news by one of your Consultants (I was so nervous I omitted to register his name). I was treated with great kindness and understanding and for this I would like to say a very heartfelt Thank you to the Consultant I saw. He took the time to explain everything to me and answer all of my many questions. If only we had had Dentists with his degree of understanding when I was growing up. I would also mention the nurse who was in attendance also treated me very kindly and with understanding Thank you.

  2. Review titled Worst experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Holly donaldson - Posted on 03 February 2023

Were treated with disrespect from the get go. Traumatic experience made a million times worse by staff. Had no idea about the mask nor one person to patient rule when entering an and e as we never ever go. Then we were shouted at for breaking rules despite my mother having a potential heart attack in the waiting room. Then we’re met by disgusting security staff who proceeded to show no compassion what so ever. We are a respectful family and would never ever be rude. We were under utter stress and treated with utter disrespect. Cannot believe what we have been through as a result. We also completely understand the pressure the NHS is under, as we have family and friends who work there but manners cost absolutely nothing. The department should be ashamed.

  3. Review titled Appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Jenny Chaplin - Posted on 26 January 2024

In Feb 2023 I was referred to the orthopaedic department as an urgent case, as both hips needed replacing. Eleven months on and there's no sign of an appointment, but there is a serious decline in my mobility. I rang two weeks ago and was told my operation would be in three months. Whether or not I'll still be able to walk is anyone's guess. I was told there were others ahead of me: one person had been waiting 78 weeks. The hospital website states the, but average wait for this operation is 27 weeks. If this is the case, it would seem some have gone on the waiting list long after me, but have managed to be treated. I know the NHS has problems, but months of constant pain, the stress of worrying how long one will be able to walk, and virtually no life outside four walls, rather takes it's toll.

Dear Jenny Chaplin I am very sorry to read of the impact your hip pain is having on your daily life while you have been waiting for your hip replacements. Unfortunately some patients will wait longer than the average waiting time. The orthopaedic teams review their waiting lists regularly, and aim to do the surgery as soon as possible. Please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01223 216756 or email cuh.pals@nhs.net so that we can look into your concerns in more detail and respond to you. Once again, I am sorry to hear about your waiting time and the difficulties this is causing you. Patient Experience Department cuh.pals@nhs.net

  4. Review titled Excellently run department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mary Rose Baugh - Posted on 10 March 2023

After a very nasty bike accident it was a relief to be taken such good care of by the staff in Accident & Emergency. I was taken very good care of in every way - the porter who wheeled me from place to place made life that bit easier, too, by being friendly and quietly cheerful. I really want to thank the staff. My difficult trip so much easier than it might have been. Your kindness is hugely appreciated. Mary Rose Baugh

  5. Review titled Such kindness and care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jane Webber - Posted on 17 January 2023

I have nothing but praise for all the staff involved in my mother's care over the past 11 days. She was admitted to Accident and Emergency after an ambulance had been called. Within 6 hours of the initial call, the ambulance had taken her to Accident and Emergency, she had been assessed and then transferred to Ward D 7. I was contacted by a doctor, given a detailed update and it was suggested that I come immediately. Throughout the 11 days my mother was in D 7 she had exemplary care and, best of all, I was kept in the loop both by telephone from a consultant and a doctor and then given daily updates during my afternoon visits. They did everything they could to deal with her condition and then, when it was clear that no recovery was possible, kept her comfortable. It was lovely to see the same staff giving continuity of care. They also looked after me at a difficult time. We are all most grateful.

  6. Review titled Generally concerned

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 January 2023

After two rapid referrals from the GP concerned that I might have cancer still haven't been seen in clinic. Offered numerous appointments then cancelled a week before said appointment. Still have no idea when I am likely to be seen. Have been waiting over 13 months since first referral. The hospital is in chaos and GP cannot get through to speak to anyone. No one cares about the wait time and how it affects patients trying to carry out everyday life in pain and discomfort. I would just like an honest answer when I'm generally likely to be seen and how long I'm going to have to wait to get the treatment.

  8. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ian Saul - Posted on 27 January 2023

I attended A & E at one thirty am on Friday 27th January and booked in was asked to sit in a very busy waiting area, within ten minutes my name was called and I went into the treatment area. A staff nurse quickly and efficiently dealt with the necessary procedures to relieve my severe pain. I was asked to return to waiting area and was then called in give bloods returning to the waiting area to get blood results this took about one hour and I was called to see the doctor who explained the results. I was given the necessary supplies to last me until the local doctor or district nurse would do a follow up. The whole experience was done with kindness and understanding patience and a general feeling of well-being especially at that time of the morning. We left at five thirty am having been treated extremely well.

  10. Review titled Busy but professional

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Steven Burns - Posted on 10 December 2022

The department was busy at 0820 when I arrived but my wait was only 90 minutes before I was taken to the Surgery assessment room. I have the utmost respect for the staff who were obviously busy and stressed but provided a friendly and professional experience.
