  1. Review titled Great staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 December 2024

I am nor a patient but was visiting my partner for the 1st time, I was a bit lost not knowing where to go, when porter with a wheel chair asked me did I need help, I told him what I was looking f¹or, he said no problem, I was using a cruch as I had a hip operation a short while back, he told me to sit on the wheel chair and he took me where I needed to go. It's great giving reviews to wards and medical staff, as they all do a great job, but we tend to forget the workers in the back, I thought that was a great thing that porter did, I am just sorry I never got his name, but if this could be passed on to the porters office just to say thanks for all that they do

  2. Review titled A&E at its Worst

by David Marsh - Posted on 09 December 2024

Attended A&E 08/12/2024, received excellent assessment from Doctor but she informed me that she would have to pass me to a colleague as her shift was finished, all tests carried out as per her instructions, had to have blood test repeated and it totally went downhill from there. Repeat blood test taken approximately 5.30pm this being just about 5/6 hours in A&E, no complaints so far. 7.30pm seen me questioning reception as to where I was in queue, answer not known their information was still awaiting test result. Disappointed as blood test results had been on decent turn around during afternoon, at that point resignation to situation has to be accepted, shine from earlier excellence is taken away. 9.30pm approach to reception to question my position in queue is met with total dishonesty, left the premises at approximately 10.00pm having been informed by unknown staff member that I could go home, you've been here long enough, your blood test results ok, no need for you to stay in hospital, all from 'top of the head' dishonesty, mention of district nurse qualifying top of the head dishonesty. Have many reasons to give praise to all NHS in Merseyside but when giving dishonesty a major role you know our future will always be filled with angst.

  3. Review titled Friendly and efficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Robert Cross - Posted on 21 December 2024

Went to a&e to rule out dvt in legs. A busy A&E but people were being seen regularly. Got b.p. bloods and heart rate done promptly. Waited for result of blood clot marker. Got seen by doctor about 50 minutes later. Friendly doctor with good communication skills. Examined me. No dvt, had a 10 minute chat about condition. Discharged. Relieved and happy.

  4. Review titled Professional and caring service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by GERARD JENNINGS - Posted on 01 October 2024

I recently had the joy of undergoing a colonoscopy. Whilst this is generally not the most comfortable and dignified of examinations, it was made so much easier by the incredibly professional and caring staff. From reception through pre-examination, to the amazing doctor and nurses who performed the procedure, and onto the wonderful recovery nurses I cannot think of any way that they could have improved my experience. I hope we never take our N.h.s. for granted, because it is the individuals who constantly go above and beyond who make it work. If you have a colonoscopy in your diary I can tell you this: do not to worry, do not feel embarrassed, do not fear pain and discomfort. Everything is going to be Ok. You are lucky to be in the care of these truly amazing individuals who will take you through every step in a calm, professional and caring manner. Whatever they are paid is not enough, but then again there isnt enough money in the world to compensate for their warm and comforting empathy. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Thank you.

  6. Review titled Amazing people!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Karen Horrocks - Posted on 17 July 2024

Our mother suffered a stroke on 15/07/24 and was taken by ambulance to the stroke unit at Aintree. The staff were waiting for her on arrival and were calm and clear with what was happening. my husband waited a short period in the family room, with a lovely porter called (who is a big Liverpool fan), who kept my husband calm and distracted, before being updated by a lovely nurse (with great taste in handbags ! - I'm hoping she will know who she is) and were then able to sit with her and calm her down as she was so scared. The nurses were chatting with our Mum and explaining what they were doing even though she was struggling to speak. They showed her such kindness and respect and made her and us feel at ease. Our Mum said she 'felt safe' there. We met with the consultant who again was clear and kind and arranged an immediate transfer to Walton Neuro. The nurse (with her grandparents tattoo) and porter accompanied us there and continued the care and compassion they had already shown. This was a scary time for us all, but was made so much easier by these amazing staff. People have a lot to say about the NHS, often negative, but it's not often I've been so impressed. So sorry I don't recall the names but hoping this gets through to the right people and they recognise themselves from my clues! - Thankyou, for the care and respect you showed us and Mum during this awful time.

I was in 2 different hospitals before being transferred to aintree with tonsillitis witch is possible to be sepsis I was in agony and promised a bed and help , after 19 hours I had some observation, now I completely understand that they are understaffed and overworked but to wait 10 hours in the waiting room when I was promised a bed to then wait another 6 hours for some pain relief then to be ignored for another 14 hours just to be told I can go home when I was supposed to be having a surgery is completely wrong they did no checks before kicking me out I felt so uncomfortable I havnt eat drank or slept in over 24 hours and just to send me home because they couldn’t be bothered to do there job , disgusting treatment

  10. Review titled Specialist Consultant .

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 June 2024

Let down by poor inconsistent nursing practice. Maybe, because I was there over a weekend and most of the staff seemed to be agency, but I felt unsafe and frankly could not wait to leave. On the day of my operation my husband was left waiting for news that I was out of surgery and OK, by the ward I was supposed to be going to. As it turned out I was taken to a different ward and my husband was not contacted to inform him of this. It caused some anxiety for him and my family. He was told that I would be staying on ward 28 until the following day as it was too late to move me by then.I was not aware of any of this until my husband finally found me and explained what had happened. The next morning I spent wondering when I was going to move to the other ward. Later that morning I asked the staff nurse when I was moving. He was extremely rude to me and asked me why I thought I was moving? I told him what had I been told. He responded very coldly, well you wiĺ not not be moving, you are in my charge and you are staying here." He was very hostile and implied I was demanding special treatment because I was from the Isle of Man, where we all had private planes, his words not mine. I was deeply shocked by his hostility. After that I felt very uncomfortable. Treatment I did not expect to receive following major surgery with a cancer diagnoses. From then on I counted the hours down to when I could leave and go home. An example of poor nursing was having to remind nursing staff not to put the thermometer in my operated ear every time. Having to beg to have my catheter removed so I could go and wash and change out of my operating gown, the same with having my canula removed as I no longer needed it. Normally after this operation I would have gone home the next day, but the consultant prefers patients who live some distance away to stay in longer in case of any complications. It was my preference to stay fairly active and not bed bound. My overall feeling was the ward was run for the benefit of the staff more than the patients.
