  1. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My mom has been in hospital for over 10days now she had fantastic care to the highest standard you could ask for. The whole team work together and nothing to much for them. I prefer Worcestershire care better than Birmingham as they have time for the patients. Every part of the hospital is lovely and clean.

  2. Review titled Outstanding

I have very recently been admitted to the Hospital for surgery, and can honestly say that this is the best Hospital I have ever stayed in, I was in Ward 17, and the staff , without exception, were outstanding. Every nurse, doctor, cleaner, orderly, volunteer etc., etc., were so hardworking, kind, caring, understanding, courteous. I could go on and on. Keep up the very good work.

  3. Review titled Such kindness and care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

We visited A and E Friday 23rd March.I was triaged, seen by a kind and professional doctor, given medication, helpful advice and booked into the orthopedic centre for the next morning We were really surprised how quickly we were seen and delighted with the caring treatment. How pressurised were they as well, with ambulances arriving with new patients . Our experience in the orthopedic centre was the same: efficient and kind doctor.,radiographer and nursing staff. We cannot praise enough the excellent service we received.Thank you!

  4. Review titled Chaotic and callous approach to patient care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 February 2024

My GP directed me to A&E with a suspected pulmonary embolism (of which I have a history). After an 11 hour wait in the waiting room, having still not seen a doctor, I was advised it would take a further 2-3 hours. I felt so poorly, and had lost all confidence in the hospital so I decided to leave and risk being very seriously ill, visiting a different A&E department instead. All that had been done in the 11 hour period were blood tests, and one ECG (after an aprox. 4 hour wait) - a further ECG was required, but never materialised in the remaining 7 hours. The X-ray I needed was also completely forgotten. There were many seriously ill individuals experiencing similar waiting times - including a young woman who was there due to a suspected stroke, and a pregnant woman with a suspected PE too, and a lady with suspected sepsis had a 7 hour wait. People were crying with pain. It seemed chaotic and disorganised; on one occasion, 2 hours passed with nobody being called through and no ambulances waiting outside. Those in the waiting room with potentially life threatening conditions and in desperate need of pain relief were put on a waiting list to receive any, with one lady waiting 3 hours to be given co-codamol. The vending machines were near empty and for half the time I was there, there were no plastic cups for the water cooler despite them being very politely requested of the reception staff. Patients who had already been taken through were still being called repeatedly - everything seemed confused. I overheard a conversation that the blood test results of 8 patients had been mixed up and would have to be repeated. The most upsetting part was when one doctor walked into the waiting room as though about to call someone; however he just stood there at the front, didn't call any name and then walked away again laughing loudly, seemingly amused at everyone looking up in desperation to see if it was their turn to actually get even the minimal treatment. Whilst I appreciate junior doctors were striking and staff were under immense pressure, this was a callous and unnecessary act, let alone being complete waste of time. I was deeply shocked at how poorly the department is now run.

  5. Review titled Initial service was good, then very poor

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by MJM - Posted on 12 March 2023

The initial treatment from the urology department was really good, but since having a prostrate biopsy, the service has really been below the expected standard. It has been nearly 7 weeks since the biopsy, but still has no results, even though I've chased them and I have been told they have been returned. To me, the results are the critical element, especially if you need treatment. I was told 4-6 weeks for the results, but know other hospitals are addressing these much quicker. I wouldn't recommend going here for prostrate issues, as you won't get the treatment you are hoping for.

  6. Review titled Amazing Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Debbie Probert - Posted on 16 January 2023

16.50 on a Sunday evening I brought my mother in law for an urgent CT scan. 2 members of staff manning the mobile unit arrived whilst we were really struggling to get to the entrance. The kindness, care and compassion shown to her was beyond belief. For treating my mother in law in this way at such a difficult time I will be forever grateful thank you both.

The team from kitchen staff, cleaning staff, health care assistants, nurses and Drs at Alexandra Hospital are an absolute credit to the hospital and the hospital is extremely lucky to have such dedicated individuals who are selfless beyond words. I only wish I could articulate better how truly grateful I am to each and everyone of them.

  8. Review titled Clinical staff good.........Bouncer on door needs training.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 November 2022

Clinical staff polite, efficient and doing their best. However, the "bouncer" on the door need lessons in basic politeness, a please and thank you go along way. He was rude, abrupt and lacked any social skills. The receptionist asked questions and then didn't bother waiting for an answer, nor did she even look up when spoken to. The waiting area was filthy, the heating system was so high patients were having to go outside to get fresh air and then missing being called in. Once you get to see clinical staff they are polite, efficient, helpful and are obviously doing their best in a difficult situation. I suspect a lot of frustration which is taken out on them is directly caused by the non clinical staff, ie the bouncer and the receptionist. They gave the impression your admittance was being granted as a kindness on their behalf, almost akin to the old workhouse infirmary , despite the fact you have a arrived with a GP letter and following a phone call to the department from your GP . The NHS is not free, it is a compulsory charge, try opting out of paying into the system via your NI contributions and you will sure find this out. Therefore patients shouldn't be made to feel as if they have to beg to be let in or spoken to like a workhouse inmate by admin staff.
