  1. Review titled Organizational Failures and Patient Neglect

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Dorna - Posted on 06 August 2024

The organization at Barnet Hospital's delivery suite has been quite frustrating. About a month ago, they scheduled my C-section for August 5th, but then they changed it to August 6th. I was instructed to fast from midnight and call the hospital at 6 a.m. to find out when to come in. When I called at 6, they asked me to call back at 9 a.m. At 9, they said they would call me back, but I still haven't heard from them. It's very upsetting that they can't organize a proper schedule, leaving a pregnant woman starving and in pain.

Dear Dorna, we're very sorry to read that you haven't heard back from the team about your c-section and understand that you are fasting for this. As there is a moderation process for comments and replies on this website, it is unlikely you will see this reply before you have your c-section, so instead we recommend contacting our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), to discuss the experience you have had further, when it is convenient for you. In the meantime, we have forwarded your comment to management so they are aware of your experience. PALS can be contacted by email at bcfpals@nhs.net or telephone on 0208 216 4924. Our apologies again and we send you our best wishes, the Barnet patient experience team.

  2. Review titled Very grateful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 August 2024

We were treated at A&E on Sunday night, for my 14 year old son who was in a lot of pain - due to suspected appendicitis. The nursing stuff were very polite and attentive. The doctor who examined our son was very thorough and recommended a full range of blood tests. The blood results were ready within two hours, shortly after which we were seen by a couple of surgeons - all this at 4am in the morning. Our son was then swiftly admitted to the Children's ward (Galaxy) where he received further care - more assessments, ultrasound scans and medication. The nursing staff were attentive, polite and kind. All the doctors we saw were very thorough and we were re-assured at all times of what was happening and the available treatment. We appreciate how busy NHS hospitals are and were somewhat dreading the experience, particularly as it was middle of the night and could see that the A&E department were busy. We were however pleasantly surprised and wanted to share our positive experience. We are incredibly grateful to the nursing staff & the doctors at the A&E and Children's Galaxy departments, the lab technicians who turned around the blood results so quickly and the ultrasound imaging specialists. Amazing hospital and staff. Thank you!

  3. Review titled Nothing has gone right

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by M Taylor - Posted on 27 August 2024

The staff are less than helpful in all departments I’ve dealt with. I wouldn’t leave a pet in their care let alone a relative. Incompetent people that have made my relatives stay awful. He is worse off after his time in hospital than he was before. Care is definitely lacking

  4. Review titled Chaotic A & E

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Pat Ruocco - Posted on 14 August 2024

Visited A & E two days ago with patient delirious with 10/10 stomach pain as unable to get ambulance for at least hour. No stretcher, no bed, no pain relief,no doctor for 6 hours! Struggling to keep patient conscious eventually had to leave crowded A & E after 2 hours as evidently unable to cope. Incidentally on arrival there were 4 ambulances and crews sitting around just waiting!

  5. Review titled The worst experience of my life

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 September 2024

I went in with a suspected heart attack, despite not being able to breathe or stand up I was told that I needed to line up so that I could check in. Waiting in line I could no longer stand and had to lay on the dirty floor in the line. It took a lady in the queue behind me to tell them to stop taking their time because I might be having a heart attack. Despite not being able to stand up they still expected me to get up and give them my personal details. Luckily shortly after that I was seen by the stage one nurse who took my blood pressure and prioritised me for ECG and blood tests. After waiting for 2 hours I asked them how much longer I’d have to wait because I was prioritised and they said 3 more hours. At that point I decided I’ll rather go home and die because you get treated like an animal in any UK A&E

  6. Review titled Amazing consultant and great team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jelka - Posted on 30 August 2024

I received outstanding health service at the gynaecology department of Barnet hospital. I was fortunate enough to be under the care of an excellent consultant whose unparalleled expertise in women’s health, patient education and use of cutting edge treatments resolved an issue I’ve been struggling with for years. I was previously treated in a renowned central London hospital but never received this level of care and my issue was left unresolved. They are not only skilled, kind but also a true champion od women’s health, game changer for difficult cases like mine. The whole team and the gynaecology department went above and beyond to help with my treatment and all the different stages of the process from appointment bookings to surgery and post-surgical care. All the exchanges were professional, helpful and compassionate. I can’t recommend them enough! The facilities are modern and the staff is always so lovely.

  8. Review titled Great Doctor

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I was in a & e for the entire day in a lot of pain, the department was extremely busy and I felt like I had to wait a very long time. Once I was seen by the doctor who was a lovely young lady, I was joined by the consultant who overlooks the department who was absolutely brilliant, his calm presence and caring nature restored my faith in my care and he took my illness very seriously. He was kind and so understanding. I would like to say a big thank you to him and for all his hard work.

  10. Review titled Very good treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Andrew Brown - Posted on 06 June 2024

Went to Barnet A&E after a fall in the street. I was triaged very promptly and seen soon after. Over the next four hours I had a CT scan, an X-ray, saw two doctors from different specialties and an A&E Consultant. All organized very efficiently and with pleasant attitude from medical, nursing and other staff. Department was clean and tidy and domestic staff appeared to be working very industriously.
