Review titled Fantastic care in Paediatrics
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Flora Pitrakkou - Posted on 20 July 2024
My 5 year old went to A&E for a very severe case of croup. Dr Petrie and her team were professional, caring and provided first rate care to my child who was really struggling to breathe. The lovely care and attention the consultant showed will never be forgotten by us.thank you so so much Dr Petrie.

Review titled Great Doctor
Rated 4 stars out of 5

I was in a & e for the entire day in a lot of pain, the department was extremely busy and I felt like I had to wait a very long time. Once I was seen by the doctor who was a lovely young lady, I was joined by the consultant who overlooks the department who was absolutely brilliant, his calm presence and caring nature restored my faith in my care and he took my illness very seriously. He was kind and so understanding. I would like to say a big thank you to him and for all his hard work.

Review titled Very good treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Andrew Brown - Posted on 06 June 2024
Went to Barnet A&E after a fall in the street. I was triaged very promptly and seen soon after. Over the next four hours I had a CT scan, an X-ray, saw two doctors from different specialties and an A&E Consultant. All organized very efficiently and with pleasant attitude from medical, nursing and other staff. Department was clean and tidy and domestic staff appeared to be working very industriously.

Review titled We left untreated
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Elhadi Mokrani - Posted on 26 June 2024
Went to emergency with chest pain and breathing difficulties with my 9 years old who had knee injury After 3 hours waiting we left untreated back home one nurse was extremely cold and show no empathy knowing that both me and my child are going back home without seeing doctor but show no feelings I think she is in the wrong place I know there is doctors shortage and NHS is struggling and so on but you can not justify this attitude towards patients If you can not treat us when we are sick treat us with a respect The worst experience I had in any hospital in my life I am 52 I am still with the pain and for my son I hope he recovers by himself As it for now we don’t know where to go when we are sick

Dear Elhadi, We're sorry to read that you had a poor experience with our Barnet emergency department recently. We note that you and your son left after three hours as you had both not been treated yet. Our emergency department continues to see very high numbers of patients, resulting in higher waiting times than we would like for our patients, but given that you have also expressed concerns about staff attitude, we would recommending our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) to discuss further, if you haven't already. PALS can be contacted by email at bcfpals@nhs.net or telephone on 0208 216 4924. Our apologies again for your poor experience and we send you our best wishes, the Barnet patient experience team.

Review titled Uncaring Night Staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 June 2024
Was admitted to ward after op. Very painful as I am unable to take strong painkillers. One particular night started vomiting and had bad stomach pains. I asked for sick bowl and was left to it, the nurses on duty that night were walking past me without even trying to help me in spite of me shouting for help….I was totally ignored while night nurses were joking and on their mobile phones. On this particular night there was a young man working and he ran over and tried to help, he stayed with me holding me upright while I was being sick. He was professional and very helpful once he realised how sick I felt. I cannot praise this young man enough if he wasn’t there that night I dont know what I would have done! Please pass on my heartfelt thanks to him. Also the day nurses were very hardworking and seemed to carry out the majority of the work, please also thank them . Physiotherapist was also excellent, it such a pity that the night staff let the hospital down. How can a night nurse take 2 hours to dispense medication to 8 patients? Easy if she is spending her time to be on her mobile in between patient! Nurses dancing and joking on the ward when patients are ignored is not very professional. Please note that the above is all to do with the night nurses and not the hardworking day staff. Its such a shame we are not able to name and acknowledge the good work carried out by the above mentioned in this review as rules state names will not be published!

Dear reviewer, we're very sorry to read you've had such a poor experience with night nurses on one of our wards, after your surgery. On this note, we would like to be able to look into this further with management, but to do so would need to know which ward you were on. Could we please ask you to email us more information at rf.bh-patientexperience@nhs.net to assist with this? Or, if you prefer, you can contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS). PALS can be contacted by email at bcfpals@nhs.net or telephone on 0208 216 4924. Separately, we note there was a colleague who tried to assist you that night and that day staff and physiotherapists provided excellent care. When we have more detail, we'll ensure these compliments are passed on. Sending you our best wishes, the Barnet patient experience team.

Review titled Urgent Care is phenomenal !

I have just spent the day here having a suspected DVT checked out, and I can't fault a thing. The department is spotless (there's a hardworking cleaner constantly making sure of that) and the staff, despite being on busy long shifts, are competent, kind and caring. I really felt heard and respected, and I only wish I could name the female ENP who made sure my mind was put at rest! Thank you Barnet Hospital :)

I recently had the pleasure of delivering my baby at Barnet Hospital and couldn't be more grateful for my midwife. From the start, her warm and compassionate behavior put me at ease. Her professionalism and deep knowledge were evident throughout the entire process, but it was her genuine kindness and dedication that truly stood out. During my labor, she was a constant source of encouragement and reassurance. She took the time to explain each step, making sure I felt informed and empowered. Her calm presence and gentle guidance made all the difference, turning what could have been a stressful experience into a beautiful and memorable one. Her ability to blend expert medical care with heartfelt personal attention is truly remarkable. She not only helped deliver my baby safely but also provided emotional support that I will always cherish. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had her by my side during such an important moment in my life. I wholeheartedly recommend her to any expectant mother seeking a midwife who combines professional excellence with genuine care and compassion. Thank you for everything you did for us. You are a true blessing.

Review titled Horrific
Rated 1 star out of 5

Quite honestly the worst hospital I have ever been up. Took my father to the emergency department as he had an irregular heart beat. In the first five hours they managed to do an ecg and a blood test. They messed up the blood test so had to do it again- another two hour wait. Then they had to repeat the test as they were concerned about the result. That was three hours ago and we're still here. A total of ten hours and we've had one ecg done and three blood tests only two which were successful. Truly horrific.
