Attended opthalmology dept with brother . Arrived at 10 am as requested and by 10.20 he had finished his eye test etc and had drops instilled to await doctor . Almost 2 hrs later after asking a nurse where we were in queue we were told the doctor didn’t need to see him and just to make an appt in 4 months . An almost 2 hr wait to be told this and we also know it happened to another lady who was very irate with the staff. Surely this cannot be accepted procedure can someone not check if seeing him is necessary from the results before they have a 2hr wait

Last night’s staff couldn’t have been better. So friendly, helpful and caring… a real credit to our NHS. Today is a different story. My wife was awake at 6am and visited by 3 nurses so far…. Not one word from any of them. A quick look at her notes whilst chatting to a porter about personal (non hospital ) matters , then off. In the wrong profession if they have no care for patients.

We came with a complex set of symptoms The department was very busy clearly overstretched but still dealt with my husband with compassion ,they dealt with him as a person and not a diagnosis and tried to ensure that all the family were included in the treatment plan

I attended BDGH, Ward 38, on Friday 8th December in order to have gallstones removed. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for their care and attention. They were kind and very attentive and totally professional. I would also like to say a big “thankyou” to all the staff in the X-ray department who carried out the procedure. Again, they too were totally professional and caring. They are all a credit to the NHS. We are very fortunate to have such an excellent service. Thank you.

Your Review: I was taken by ambulance to A & E with a severe nosebleed. All the staff from Doctors to Student Nurses were absolutely brilliant. They were reassuring, friendly and caring. The Doctor explained fully what the plans were and checked I was OK with them. He couldn’t have been any kinder. This is an extremely busy department and they had some difficult patients to deal with but remained caring and professional throughout. Well done A & E and thank you so much for the care you gave me and my daughter.

My little boy went in with bronchiolitis and they was absolutely great, they helped me when I struggled to feed him, changed his nappy when I didn't hear him crying and overall lovely people to chat to and very friendly .(thank you for saving my boys life)

I visited the breast clinic and was seen promptly and given my results that morning. Fortunately I had good news. The nurse practitioner and mammographer were extremely kind and professional and I could not fault them. Thank you.

I went to Barnsley hospital on Tues 14th Nov 2023 at 9 30 pm With blood pressure of 205/103 I was brought in by ambulance staff were brilliant,on arrival I expected a long wait but I was shown straight away to the triage area my blood pressure was taken canular put in bloods taken and abdominal scan done all within first half hour then I was taken to a cubicle in there I was seen by another doctor who examined me it was then a longish wait for blood results at 2 45 am seen by third doctor who have me another thorough examination the service was exceptional thankyou so much

I had an accident and broke my ankle. My ankle then needed to be operated on so it could be pinned & platted. On the Tuesday afternoon seeing a consultant I was put on the trauma list. Wednesday morning at 8.00am I was phoned & asked to be at Theatre Arrivals at 11.00am. I was met by the Sister who introduced me to the nurse who was to oversee my care on the ward . 1.00pm I went down for surgery everyone I met were friendly ,supportive & very kind. I returned from surgery with such kindness & care from all the staff on the ward. The ward was immaculately clean a credit to everyone involved with it !! I left the ward at 6.00pm for home what a fabulous service Barnsley Hospital. Thank you

On the 04/10/2023 I was subjected to diagnostic endoscopy and gastroscopy on the Day Surgery / Endoscopy Unit. I would like to praise all the staff on the unit and the nurse who offered me a telephone consultation before my visit. I was treated with kindness, care and understanding and given ample opportunities to ask questions. The procedure was carried out very efficiently and with a high degree of professionalism, the results were given to me shortly afterwards along with information regarding changes I need to make as a result of the investigations. The NHS and staff within are subjected to a high level of stress and pressure, none of this was evident in any of my dealings with everyone I met. If there were a star rating I would be awarding the team, and the hospital 5 stars. Keep up the excellent work. Ray ~Ward
