I went in for carpel tunnel surgery on both hands. I had a support worker with me as I live with anxiety and ptsd symptoms at times. The nurses especially were absolutely amazing . Every person I came into contact with was calm and utterly lovely. The people who were sedating me even told jokes. I cannot begin to explain how all this helped me. Thank uou

Having to battle to get an appointment with the dept ,I was astonished by how little empathy was shown , from waiting for an urgent referral (2weeks) ended up being 7 weeks , asked various questions on how I felt , then the consultant said “ I wanted to send you for some tests but you will have taken your tablets and eaten “ to which I said “ no I didn’t get informed of this but googled it so I haven’t had tablets or food , the consultant then said great go for these blood tests , I went to get these done and the nurses said I should of been before 9.00 , it was 11.30 , she said it’s not the correct procedure , had bloods done went home ,phone rung , sorry we haven’t done correct tests , went back , all in all iam totally dissatisfied with the way this has been handled , and on top of this the diagnosis is ridiculous , someone needs to be held accountable for these actions and pitfalls ..

  3. Review titled Mental health support

I see a cpn and a support worker. Without these people I couldn’t function at the minute. I had to go into hospital for an operation and my support worker took me. She waited with me until I went down to theatre. I can’t begin to explain how that helped. Both her and my cpn have helped more in the last year than anyone ever. I’m beyond grateful

  4. Review titled Cannot get an appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Robert Jolley - Posted on 05 December 2022

My wife (age 68) has a hereditary hearing condition which means she has 100% hearing loss in her left ear and 80% loss in her right ear. She uses NHS supplied hearing aids, to enable her to hear, which occasionally need attention that can only be administered at a NHS hospital. Since early Sept 22 she has been trying to get an appointment to repair the current hearing aid(s) but all she is continually told is that she is on the waiting list. She attends the Retford hospital as it is closest to where she lives but is prepared to trave to Worksop or Doncaster. My wife's hearing ability is now very bad and yet she cannot get an appointment to have the issue with the hearing aid fixed. From previous experience it would probably take a 15 minute appointment to fix the problem. For someone who has a total dependency on hearing aids to enable anything resembling normal life a three month wait (with no sign of when she will receive an appointment) is extremely bad. Whilst we appreciate the strain that hospitals are under a better system needs to be in place to spread appointments across Doncaster, Worksop and Retford hospitals to provide better patient support.

Thank you for sharing with us your feedback for Bassetlaw Hospital. I am sorry to hear that your wife has been waiting for such a long time for an appointment. Below, I have included the contact details for the Hearing Rehabilitation Centre in Intake, Doncaster. All calls go through Doncaster as that's where the admin team are based but they deal with all Audiology appointments at our sites. I would advise you or your wife contact them to see about making an appointment. Email: dbth.hearing.reahb@nhs.net Phone: 01302 644950 Text: 07796 174900 (text only) Best wishes, Libby

  5. Review titled Great care

I would just like to extend my thanks to all the staff we encountered when my son was admitted for surgery. From arrival at the ambulatory childrens ward each and every staff member we met was kind and caring and did their best to make my son, myself and my husband feel at ease. The play worker was great in trying to keep my son as calm as possible before his procedure, talking him through everything and providing an Xbox to his bedside. The surgeon visited before and after to explain the procedure and outcome. The nurses were attentive at all stages of the day. Thank you all, it was much appreciated. 🤍

  6. Review titled Great teamwork .

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My husband attended A&E in the early hours of August 26th. He was quite distressed on arrival. The triage nurse was very empathetic and soon put him at ease. All tests and checks were fully explained which made him feel comfortable with what was happening. It was obvious this nurse was very dedicated and patient. Similarly the young A&E doctor who then attended to my husband was equally very professional and very thorough. The whole journey through A&E was very impressive. The triage nurse, the dr , the nurses in the admissions all contributed to making a scary experience more bearable. Thanks to all of them for being part of our NHS
