Review titled Excellent service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by GM Clayton - Posted on 09 January 2023
I was sent a survey the day after treatment, however couldn't find the gastroenterology dept. listed so have resorted to this review as treatment was so good felt compelled to comment. From beginning to end my in patient experience and treatment was never less than excellent. A pleasant and very helpful receptionist, friendly professional admission nurses, caring, friendly and proficient theatre nurses and surgeon. Special mention to the fabulous aftercare nurse who goes over and above in her care of patients. Treated with respect and empathy throughout with everything explained and also patients were actually listened to. This department is a credit to the hospital.

Review titled Brilliant Department
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I would just like to thank the receptionist on this department who truly went above and beyond to help my husband who had a urine infection and was in excruciating pain. After making further enquiries with a colleague, the care i received and advice was absolutely brilliant the nurse who was on lunch at the time had no hesitation to assess me. You really are simply the best!

Review titled Awful receptionist early pregnancy unit
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 01 January 2023
I was pregnant and started to bleed around 3/4 weeks. I started light bleeding and worried I called the early pregnancy unit. I was greeted by the rudest receptionist who told me that my pregnancy didn't mean anything as I wasn't 6 weeks, and it's just how life is. I felt like I was an inconvenience to her day. I then found out a few weeks after I was pregnant again, I was told by a midwife to call the epu to be dated correctly. On calling I was greeted with the same receptionist who barley let me talk. After explaining I had been told to call to be dated she told me it was far to early and she doesn't know why these people keep telling me stuff when they are incorrect, she rushed the whole call and didn't tell me help me in the slightest, I'm actually going to ask to be transferred to Preston as I can not fathom how someone in that role can have no compassion. Find a new receptionist!! I've seen other reviews regarding her.

Review titled Very good
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mr Robert Tait - Posted on 09 December 2022
I went for a excisional biopsy on a lesion on my top lip. I was nervous. The doctor and all the staff were exceptional, they told me everything that was going to happen and made me feel at ease. They gave me information leaflets regarding recovery, to take home.

Review titled Almost good

Provision for disabled parking at reception B is great but... the door to reception B is locked and so you are required to walk back across the disability parking and make your way through to general reception, then follow signs to reception B, the reception being some 5 metres from where I was stood outside looking at a locked door and pondering on the level of logic.

Review titled Excellent care .
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mrs Maureen Roberts - Posted on 07 January 2023
My husband underwent surgery on the 26th of November 2022 . for a left inguinal hernia open repair with mesh .He was kept overnight due to not passing urine , but was discharged on the 27/11 2022 . He only needed one day of pain meds ,he walked around for 15 minutes twice a day for first few days with the help of a walking stick , that increased to 45 minutes , and within two weeks he did not need the support of the walking stick . He followed the guide lines such as no lifting, eating good healthy food and pacing himself . His wound healed perfectly, and for the last two weeks has resumed his hour long walks morning and evening with our Highland terrier ., good going for a man turning 83 years of age this April , who for over two years had to severly limit his walking due to experiencing severe pain for over two years due the the hernia . I would like to thank the surgeons who performed the surgery they did an exellent job, and thanks to nurses on the ward .

Review titled Unprofessional staff
Rated 1 star out of 5

I came in today almost 32 weeks pregnant with severe pain in my tummy. I had been in previous to this appointment and had been diagnosed with spd. I was told by nurses that if i was concerned about anything, had any pains etc, to call in and come in if instructed. So i went in today with pain completely different to spd and wanted to ensure it was nothing serious. The first thing one of the nurses said to me was 'you need to just get on with it, ' as she had seen me for my last visit. She was extremely unprofessional and i was made to feel as though i was wasting their time.
