Review titled Very impressed
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Lynne Roberts-Mudge - Posted on 22 September 2024
I accompanied an old friend, now in a nursing home, to the hospital yesterday. She can’t walk, has limited speech, is incontinent, has to be fed etc etc. She had got herself out of her recliner in the home, fallen and hit her nose and hurt her wrist. She had broken her wrist in 2021 and it has never set properly. Because of her condition it’s never been possible to put it right. We were told there would be a ‘up to 21/2 hour wait for an x ray. She then said it would be longer if we went to Musgrove. Poor attitude. We had no pads with us and no food ( she has her food liquidised). About 5 young people were waiting and we were told they would be seen first. •. Surely there should be a system where people such as my friend are seen before the ‘walking wounded’. Twisted ankles etc. As it turned out we only waited about 20/25 mins. We then waited to see a doctor. We say the most wonderful gentleman I think I’ve ever met at your hospital. He’d reviewed all her previous X-rays, was absolutely clear about what needed to be done. He was cheerful and very positive! I had total confidence in him. A big thank you to him. I’m sure my friend, were she able, would say the same thing. Regards Lynne Roberts-Mudge.

Review titled An Excellent Hospital
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Nigel W - Posted on 01 October 2024
I had to attend the Endoscopy Dept for a procedure. The whole hospital was immaculately clean and organised. All the staff I encountered from the receptionist, to the nurses up to the consultant were extremely polite, friendly and professional. On top of all that you can park your car without being charged. All the staff appeared to be very happy in their work and carried it out with a smile. My experience was a far cry from how the NHS is often described by our politicians as 'being broken and on its knees' which cannot be good for staff morale. Well done to Bridgwater Community Hospital!

Review titled In need of help and none given.

A builder had been working at our house and just before he was to leave for home, a piece of masonry went into his eye, he had a two hour journey home so went straight to Bridgwater hospital, he was told after 4pm he had to make an appointment so they could not help him.Three nurses were sitting behind the desk, it would have taken a short time to have got the masonry out of his eye, but no. What sort of a country do we have whereby a hospital will not help you. Shameful.

Had to go and get an X-ray. From the time we got out of the car until we got back in, a total of 20 minutes. Excellent

Review titled Positive feedback
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mr Paul Dalton - Posted on 25 July 2024
I had the misfortune of being knocked off my push bike by a bus. It was a very near miss and thankfully I walked away. I limped home. The next day I visted bridgwater minor injuries hospital. I was in quite a bit of pain. Within 30 mins I was checked over, given pain relief and within 1 hour I had an xray. Staff were great. 2 hours later I left on crutches. I was expecting sullen staff, long queues and problems. I was pleasantly surprised. Hence they deserve positive re enforcement. Well done Paul Dalton, Stogursey

I was referred to this hospital via 111 and I was seen as soon as I booked in. The doctor was kind and considerate and the receptionists were lovely.

Review titled Wonderful service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I referred to today (04/04/24) with a wound on my toe. I have Peripheral Arterial Disease and received angioplasty last year. The two ladies that dealt with me were simply wonderful. I am in a lot of pain and I was treated with such care and consideration. My toe was cleaned and redressed without any awful pain and I have a check up in a week's time. The best thing is they are going to inform my consultant about the problem as my arterial disease symptoms are getting quickly worse because I can't do much walking. I am so grateful to the the ladies for their concern and ability to recognise my worries.

Review titled Unnecessary attitude
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 March 2024
Last Saturday morning (15/03/24) my daughter went to Bridgwater Hospital after contacting and being referred by 111. We waited 1.5 hrs before being seen despite referral. At just before 1.5 hrs told wait would be 2.5 hrs by grumpy staff member (though this was t case) who then turned out to be person by daughter saw in A&E. No idea if she was a nurse practitioner or doctor as didn’t introduce herself. Her attitude was awful esp to a child. My daughter complained of pain and this person said I am not asking about your pain now. I will get to that later. She prodded and poked my daughter’s leg, didn’t ask her to walk or see that she was limping. Was told it is ligament damage and to rest and ice. My daughter said felt like nerve that was giving her pain and this was dismissed. Not a pleasant experience for either of us. Since then has seen a physio at school and another lovely locum doctor at Woolavington who said it is muscle related not ligament. She shouldn’t be in the job if has no bedside manner.
