  1. Review titled Fantastic in-patient care on gynaecology & breast care ward

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Kelly M - Posted on 19 July 2024

I was admitted to gynaecology/ breast care ward in July for surgery. I have received one thousand percent care from the surgeon , the doctors & the nursing staff . Also the kitchen ladies & the cleaning lady were great at monitoring my food allergies. I had some post op complications & had an extended stay. At all times I was looked after with kindness , care and dignity despite being short staffed and my needing extra care. I cannot praise all of the staff on here enough. They are truely an amazing team who care deeply for their patients. Thankyou so very much.

  2. Review titled Informal complaint

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mr Neil Richards - Posted on 26 June 2024

Following a referral to salford laser clinic 2 Feb 24, the specialist requested I go on isotretinoin which needs to be administered by my local hospital burnley dermatology before they can start treatment. I have been on lymecycline for 6 months followed by doxycycline for just over 5 months. Unfortunately my specialist at Burnley, who has been really great in getting me the referral at salford, I believe has or is off sick which extended the appointment to 19 June 2024, which was cancelled due to her sickness. I attended salford laser clinic on 21 June where they confirmed the current treatment was not having any effect and i needed to go on the Isotretinoin before they can do anything. I understand other dermotology doctors can prescribe and undertake required tests i request this is considered as this is delaying my treatment. I have not been contacted by anyone to rearrange the appointment, which i assume maybe due to continued sickness or backlog of patients. I understand that this treatment maybe administered by other doctors and would request this option is considered to enable treatment to progress at salford laser clinic. My patient number rxr4362417 I do appreciate how short of resources you may be and sorry to register this informal complaint, happy to discuss by phone 07810810288

  3. Review titled Wonderful stay at hospital.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was discharged Monday from ward 15 the staff on this ward are amazing. Friendly warm and caring. I was thinking as I was watching them work this is how nurses should truly be they went above and beyond. I didnt meet anyone who was looking miserable or unhappy in my whole stay. They helped me through an ordeal which I had worried about months before so Thank you So Much to you all.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Fiona - Posted on 08 May 2024

I was admitted as a day case at 7.30am and had to wait for my surgery until 3.30pm but the staff on the elective unit were brilliant. So caring and attentive. Always communicating. My surgery has gone well and follow up care was brilliant. Shout out to all on the unit including the students. All were brilliantly professional and attentive. The orthopedics team have done a brill job, anasthetics staff were great for keeping me calm and i'm extremely grateful to them. Time scale from first consultation to surgery has been about 11 weeks

  5. Review titled Fantastic!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Richard Baldwin - Posted on 06 April 2024

I have just had ACL reconstruction surgery and currently on ward 15. All the team who undertook the surgery were great, humorous, knowledgeable and reassuring. I have a long term anxiety disorder which I let ward 15 know when I arrived as it raises certain challenges and has been heightened this last few weeks. Unbelievably, the calmest I have been in the last 2 weeks is whilst staying at ward 15! This is purely down to the professionalism, approachability and dedication of the team here. I can not praise then enough, a genuinely fantastic team and department! Many thanks!

  6. Review titled No further along

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 May 2024

I was originally referred in early 2023 for problems relating to struggling to conceive. It is now 15 months later and I’m not much further along than I was last year. I’ve been passed from clinic to clinic - once I had waited over an hour and a half past my appointment time to be told booked in the wrong clinic and there was nothing to be done for me that day (after taking the afternoon off work). I turned up for a consultation to be told the Doctor couldn’t review a test I had and I needed it redoing, wasting time and again taking time off work to attend the appointment. I’m no further along than I was last year, still struggling to conceive and no answers as to possibly why that is. It’s a bad service and I wouldn’t recommend. Probably still be waiting for further tests this time next year. One positive though, all the ladies who have performed the ultrasounds have been amazing and lovely! Very good at their jobs and friendly and informative. They are amazing at what they do and no disrespect to them at all!

It is lovely to hear that you found the care you received from the ultrasound staff to be amazing. However, I am sorry that you have experienced problems with appointments. Your comments have been sent to the senior staff within the department and the Directorate Manager for Gynaecology apologises that the service has not met your requirements. 7. Review titled Non existent care

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 May 2024

Failures to call patients back when leaving a message for rheumatology nurses, lack of care or consultation when on biologics. No consultation or discussion regarding drug changing. No physio, no appointment at the 3 month mark, appointments cancelled, shocking lack of care, as a patient I should be involved in my care and given choices and consent. To not return calls when several messages have been left and I am showing worrying signs of illness again and again and need answers or discuss, shows a lack of care and dismissed the times I have spoken to one nurse bar Steph who show compassion and amazing understanding however I am appalled by the lack of care from everyone else I have dealt with, don’t feel informed or supported and all of this is having an effect on my stress. Anxiety and mental health, I have lost total faith in the service from this department, even my GP can’t get hold of anyone, your service or lack of it makes people worse, and your complaints are rising as you are failing to offer any care never mind excellence, you not calling people back is putting a further strain on GP’s who are not qualified to deal with these conditions/patients and also on A & E departments, there is no excuse to not provide the care you promise, leaving people on dangerous scary medication to find there own way, it’s going to end in deaths or suicide, you should be informing and monitoring patients and calling them back when they have concerns, not ignoring messages left, I wouldn’t recommend east Lancs Burnley/blackburn at all for rheumatology care as it stands right now as it’s a shambles, you’ve failed me so far.

  9. Review titled Beautiful kind people.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I’ve just been into the Endoscopy Department for a Colonoscopy procedure and the staff in there were so kind and thoughtful, from start to the finish a nurse looked after me. She took me into a room where they were doing the procedure, also in the room was another nurse and a Doctor. I couldn’t have asked for a more professional team, I was so relaxed even though it wasn’t a nice procedure, they made me very comfortable and relaxed. God Bless the NHS.

  10. Review titled Diagnostic Laparoscopy +\- Treatment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 January 2024

I recently underwent a diagnostic laparoscopy surgery and ended up having my endometriosis taken out. The surgical team were amazing - I could not fault them at all. My anaesthetists were lovely and reassured me through everything and my surgeon was amazing! However, the general ward staff were awful - some more than others. The general feel was as soon as you were out of theatre they wanted you gone. As I was only 24 and very scared of my first procedure on my own, when I came around from the anaesthetic I was teary and very nauseous/dizzy. I was treated as though I was being dramatic and told that if I didn’t get out of bed in the next 20 minutes that I would be moved to a ward that is to busy for me. As I was still confused from just coming round, I ended up being transferred over to the ambulatory care section in a bay and left. When crying in pain and after I had tried to get myself up so that I could he discharged, it took a nurse over half an hour to respond to my buzzer. Whilst I understood that there are other patients much worse, I had hurt my stomach trying to get up as they requested and went really light headed and got stuck. Luckily, my sister was there to help me. By the time I had sat in the chair and the nurse finally came, I was refused a drink as the ward was too busy (again I fully understood this however i was so dizzy from the anaesthetic and was told that my heart rate was high). Overall, as a young patient who underwent what they deem to be a ‘minor surgery’, I was in alot of pain and didn’t feel as though I received a decent level of care from the staff on shift. I was later sent home without pain medication and not told much at all about self care over the next few days. Everyone deserves kindness and sympathy, especially when coming round from an operation, do better.
