  1. Review titled Non existent care

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 May 2024

Failures to call patients back when leaving a message for rheumatology nurses, lack of care or consultation when on biologics. No consultation or discussion regarding drug changing. No physio, no appointment at the 3 month mark, appointments cancelled, shocking lack of care, as a patient I should be involved in my care and given choices and consent. To not return calls when several messages have been left and I am showing worrying signs of illness again and again and need answers or discuss, shows a lack of care and dismissed the times I have spoken to one nurse bar Steph who show compassion and amazing understanding however I am appalled by the lack of care from everyone else I have dealt with, don’t feel informed or supported and all of this is having an effect on my stress. Anxiety and mental health, I have lost total faith in the service from this department, even my GP can’t get hold of anyone, your service or lack of it makes people worse, and your complaints are rising as you are failing to offer any care never mind excellence, you not calling people back is putting a further strain on GP’s who are not qualified to deal with these conditions/patients and also on A & E departments, there is no excuse to not provide the care you promise, leaving people on dangerous scary medication to find there own way, it’s going to end in deaths or suicide, you should be informing and monitoring patients and calling them back when they have concerns, not ignoring messages left, I wouldn’t recommend east Lancs Burnley/blackburn at all for rheumatology care as it stands right now as it’s a shambles, you’ve failed me so far.

I came in for a urology procedure on Monday 04 March 2024, not a very comfortable procedure but the nurses and doctor made me so relaxed and I felt has comfortable as I could have. They all explained everything what they were doing, I couldn’t have had a better team looking after me. Thank you so much for your love and kindness. x

  3. Review titled Beautiful kind people.

I’ve just been into the Endoscopy Department for a Colonoscopy procedure and the staff in there were so kind and thoughtful, from start to the finish a nurse looked after me. She took me into a room where they were doing the procedure, also in the room was another nurse and a Doctor. I couldn’t have asked for a more professional team, I was so relaxed even though it wasn’t a nice procedure, they made me very comfortable and relaxed. God Bless the NHS.

  4. Review titled Diagnostic Laparoscopy +\- Treatment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 January 2024

I recently underwent a diagnostic laparoscopy surgery and ended up having my endometriosis taken out. The surgical team were amazing - I could not fault them at all. My anaesthetists were lovely and reassured me through everything and my surgeon was amazing! However, the general ward staff were awful - some more than others. The general feel was as soon as you were out of theatre they wanted you gone. As I was only 24 and very scared of my first procedure on my own, when I came around from the anaesthetic I was teary and very nauseous/dizzy. I was treated as though I was being dramatic and told that if I didn’t get out of bed in the next 20 minutes that I would be moved to a ward that is to busy for me. As I was still confused from just coming round, I ended up being transferred over to the ambulatory care section in a bay and left. When crying in pain and after I had tried to get myself up so that I could he discharged, it took a nurse over half an hour to respond to my buzzer. Whilst I understood that there are other patients much worse, I had hurt my stomach trying to get up as they requested and went really light headed and got stuck. Luckily, my sister was there to help me. By the time I had sat in the chair and the nurse finally came, I was refused a drink as the ward was too busy (again I fully understood this however i was so dizzy from the anaesthetic and was told that my heart rate was high). Overall, as a young patient who underwent what they deem to be a ‘minor surgery’, I was in alot of pain and didn’t feel as though I received a decent level of care from the staff on shift. I was later sent home without pain medication and not told much at all about self care over the next few days. Everyone deserves kindness and sympathy, especially when coming round from an operation, do better.

  6. Review titled Amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The Ophthalmology department staff at BGH were so attentive and caring. I have had two eye surgeries with them this year and both times I felt comfortable. Despite waiting hours during consultation and admission prep, all the staff members, especially the nurses, were really understanding. Post surgery they also explained what to do and gave clear instructions. My second visit was amazing but hopefully it will be the last!

  9. Review titled I was kept informed of what was happening

    by Westie11 - Posted on 10 October 2023

I had to go for a colonoscopy at Burnley General Hospital for the first time and course was feeling apprehensive.. No need to take notice of the comments made about Hospital care as I was treated with kindness, respect and thoughtfulness. All through the procedure I was kept informed of what was happening and constantly asked if I was alright...the staff could not have been better. Over the last few years my experiences of the NHS have been nothing but positive and not as often portrayed in the press.

  10. Review titled Urgent eye what a joke

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Kenneth Marsden - Posted on 14 October 2023

Been visiting opthamology for the last 7 months due to my partners ongoing eye problem, visited on the 11th October 2023 where she had a bandage lens fitted, on Saturday morning had to visit our optician, who diagnosed that the lens had split, he then typed out a referral to the eye department on producing the letter we were told you cannot be seen without an appointment and we couldn't have an appointment because the list was full. After some exchange of words we got an appointment for Sunday. My point is why is there a clinic called urgent eye clinic when no one will see you, we also asked if we went to urgent care and got a referral would they see us then, the answer was no. So what is the point of this place full of little tin gods stopping you seeing a professional person, should be shut down.
