  1. Review titled Incredible Team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Arriane Preston - Posted on 29 August 2022

I visited for Endoscopy/ Colonoscopy, I was incredibly anxious but the team were fantastic from arriving through to departure. Everything was explained thoroughly to me, and they were immediately on top of any discomfort I experienced. Thank you to everyone there, you helped so much to lessen the anxiety and fear I had.

  3. Review titled Wonderful, efficient staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Esther Womack - Posted on 23 August 2022

I went to Burnley Urgent Care unit after my GP was unable to see me when I was extremely unwell with a urinary tract infection. I was met at reception by a friendly member of staff who helped me to get signed in on the ipad and I was then signed in by the receptionist. Wait time was up to 3 hours but I was seen within the hour by a nurse who was so empathetic and helpful, she took my temperature and blood pressure and her colleague provided me with some paracetamol. I felt really at ease and it was so nice to have someone so understanding checking me in. I then gave a urine sample and waited for an appointment which was made for me within 20mins of my seeing the nurse. The nurse practitioner came to get me for my appointment and she was absolutely brilliant. She was really friendly and clear with her instructions and she examined my stomach and back. I felt really comfortable with her and she prescribed me some antibiotics as well as giving me useful advice about pain relief and next steps. I was really impressed with her professionalism and her friendly manner. I then was sent to the pharmacy who only took 10minutes to get my prescription ready and was free to go. I think the staff on the urgent care unit are doing a fantastic job, working under pressure as there were many people there waiting to be seen. I haven't been to Burnley hospital before but I would recommend it without reserve. Thank you so much for helping me when I was in so much pain and for making me feel comfortable and at ease while you did.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and raise your concerns on NHS Website. I am very sorry to hear of the difficulties you have experienced in trying to get through to Ward 15 at Burnley General Teaching Hospital. We sincerely apologise that this has happened and your comments have been shared with senior staff. The Ward Manager has reviewed your feedback and is very sorry this has been your experience on this occasion. We have a dedicated ward clerk Mon-Fri between 07:30 and approx 15:00 to answer the phone. Outside of these times, the ward staff do their best to answer, unfortunately, the needs of the patients on the ward come first. If staff were busy with patient care or medication rounds, this will be their first priority, which I am sure you will appreciate. Thank you for your feedback and we will try to do better where we can. You can discuss further any concerns you may have about our services with our East Lancashire Hospitals Trust Customer Relations team on 01254 733700 or complaints@elht.nhs.uk who can advise you of your options in raising these concerns further. Once again please accept our apologies for your experience and the inconvenience it has caused. Kind Regards Sarah Ridehalgh Patient Experience Facilitator
