Review titled A&E Attendance Today
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Eleanor - Posted on 05 January 2024
Unfortunately I am unable to leave the name of the actual staff who saw my daughter today but the reception staff, female triage nurse, male ANP and the two ladies who cleaned and glued my daughters head wound were all fantastic. Really friendly, reassuring and put myself, my husband and daughter at ease. Thankyou so much for your care!

Review titled Grateful thanks to an insightful consultant and team
by septemberjs98 - Posted on 24 October 2023
Transferred from A&E with breathing difficulties. Had previously been to two A&E depts in the north whilst on holiday. Calderdale transferred me to medical assessment ward. They were just about to discharge me, thinking it was just my breathing pattern that was out of sync. The consultant I spoke to said just before u go let’s just check for blood clots. I will be forever in his debt, due to his diligence and I guess experience they found numerous blood clots on my lungs. I write to pass on my grateful thanks for his insight and the team that assisted me to getting to the stage where I was discharged with tablets etc. [Very happy with 'Staff attitude'] [Very happy with 'Staff skills']

Some misunderstanding over appointments made with Calderdale Hospitals, Ears, Nose, treatment Departments. Quickly resolved by the Consultants involved with their full, most considerate co-operation. Resulted in my receiving the anticipated services together with associated treatments. One happy patient. Colin S Heaton

Review titled Excellent service all round.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Eamonn Marley - Posted on 20 September 2023
I had an emergency eye condition ulcer on the cornea caused by dormant shingles. The A&E straight through to Ophthalmology were excellent. I found all the staff I engaged with helpful and on the ball. My Consultant and his colleagues who dealt with me are a great example of how to engage with a patient correctly who is in pain. 10/10. The hospital was very clean to the eye. It all seemed fast, efficient,on the ball. Kudos all round!

Review titled Thank you!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Marge - Posted on 21 August 2023
Everyone who knows and loves me knows that I am not an easy patient to take care of. However, your Cardiology staff - from the domiciliary staff right up to the consultants, but most particularly your front-line nursing team - showed the care, patience and tolerance I needed to get through my brief hospital stay in the shortest possible time, but in a way that's armed me with the knowledge and information I need to prevent a repetition. I'm grateful for their kindness, humour and willingness to listen. Thank you for employing a diverse, knowledgeable and personable workforce - their collective and individual brilliance kept my anxiety at bay and made it much easier to help them to help me.

All the staff in the A and E department were caring and professional and despite the waiting time and the number of people waiting it was not a bad experience

Review titled Superb care
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Our very grateful thanks to Accident and Emergency, resus and general teams when my father had an infection. He has underlying health issues which means infections take hold very quickly and can have serious impacts. At Accident and Emergency he was triaged within minutes of arrival and sent immediately to resus where tests were performed exceptionally quickly and his treatment was started within the hour. Once a bed was available he received excellent care from both wards 2b and 5b. Thankfully he was able to return home within a few days whilst continuing treatment. The prompt attention and subsequent care has meant he didn't have a lengthy stay in hospital which has made a huge difference to his recovery time. Throughout his treatment our family was fully informed of the plans and aftercare. We can't thank everyone enough. You are amazing.

All of the staff were fantastic when I had a laparotomy; nurses, doctors and auxiliary carers. Professional and pleasant. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

Review titled Typical
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Ross Kightly - Posted on 28 June 2023
I read my following poem, which I based on my experiences, at a recent poetry launch event in Brighouse: Typical I fall backwards onto a stone pavement. I suffer a head injury which bleeds profusely. Companions (wife, friend, neighbour) haul me to my feet. I'm taken to the local A&E, booked in… wait. Triaged, allocated to Minor Injuries. I wait. I'm seen by a cheerful, efficient practitioner. My wound is disinfected, dressed, prognosis is clearly explained. All this within 90 minutes. The wound heals without complications within the time frame expected. Banner headlines in local and national press, TV and radio news lead: Another NHS Success. (Spot the statements that, unfortunately, are merely fanciful). I think that sums up my feelings about your excellence, and my disgust at media distortion of the truth. Please feel free to make whatever use you wish of any part of this communication. Continue being spectacular! Yours, Ross Kightly
