Review titled Appalling service from in house pharmacy
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by David Verity - Posted on 11 April 2023
Had an urgent Cardiologist appointment at Calderdale Royal Hospital on 5 April, consultant prescribed four medications, which he advised me to start immediately. Rowlands said one wasn't in stock and i would have to go back to collect it - pointed out this was best part of an hour's journey in each direction and the assistant said they would arrange for me to pick it up at Huddersfield when it was back in stock, 48 hours later no word from Rowlands. It now appears that the whole company closes down for four days. Nobody answering the phone at Halifax or Huddersfield, sent an email to the enquiries address and was told it was impossible to deliver. rang the complaints helpline, would I leave a message and someone would call me back - four days later and still waiting; emailed the complaints line, got an automated response 24 hours later telling me complaints were dealt with in the order they are received. Do I think I'll still be on the planet when they get round to it? It's now 11 April. This is supposed to be urgent and at this rate I'll be lucky to be able to start my medication within a week. Thank you Rowlands for assisting my stress levels, how on earth did the Trust think fit to award you the contract? Totally disgusted.

Dear Mr Verity. Thanks for your feedback. I now understand that Rowlands have been in touch and you should have your medication. Thank you again for highlighting it to us. Kind regards. Jacqui Booth, Communications Manager.

Review titled Thanks to the staff of A&E
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Frances Senior - Posted on 21 April 2023
I just want to say a big thankyou to all the staff in A&E who looked after my husband today. Every test possible was done to determine the cause of his problem and everyone was so helpful, considerate and friendly and explained everything we weren't sure about.

Review titled Compassionate care when I lost my baby
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 April 2023
Very kind and compassionate care from the midwives when I lost my baby. They talked me through everything they were doing to me and why, they asked me for permission to touch my baby and move him and cut his cord. They talked me through holding my baby and seeing my baby when I was ready. They offer funeral care and helped when I chose a private funeral. I was still allowed to see my baby when I left the hospital and they set up a quite and respectful room for me to spend time with him.

I attended the endoscopy clinic yesterday 7/3/2023 i was really apprehensive with the tales iv,e heard about this procedure, i needn't have worried, the whole team were brilliant, they were all friendly , helpfull and reassuring. The procedure was carried out both professionally and painlessly and i'd have no fear of having it done again. Thanks to all concerned.

Review titled Horrible service
Rated 1 star out of 5

Visited the A&E department at Calderdale hospital but was kept waiting for over 5 hours to see a doctor. When I asked for an updated after 5 hours, all I was told is a doctor hasn’t been assigned. Patient is in pain, busted their head open but please wait on some horrible chairs for over 5 hours. If your hurt yourself just stay at home that way you can stay warm and rest

Review titled 5 Star +++

March 13th visited Calderdale for biopsy, from the start with reception the nurse who took my blood then surgery staff, followed by nurse who kindly gave me a drink and took me to the lift, I was well looked after and all the staff were very helpful to a senior citizen, also a first class procedure by the consultant. Well done Calderdale for making my visit stress free.

Review titled Highly professional and caring
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Susan Sigsworth - Posted on 21 February 2023
I was welcomed into a calm, quiet ward with a cup of tea and oodles of kindness. Everyone who came along to ask the necessary questions or to take blood pressure etc treated me with respect and understanding, and I was encouraged to ask anything I wanted. When the time came for my angiogram the theatre staff introduced themselves and again were very reassuring about the procedure. I really appreciated being able to choose music, which immediately helped me to relax and float away, so I was happy to leave all the responsibility to the team. Nothing was too painful to cope with, and everything was explained before it was done. Back on the ward there was another cup of tea and even a sandwich. I stayed there for a further couple of hours while results and recommendations were explained, blood pressure and heartbeat regularly taken. The staff nurse went through the tablet regime again before I left. I need to return soon to have a stent inserted, but after this experience, I'm no longer worried about that and will be happy to see everyone there again.

Review titled Fantastic service

Brought my father in law to CRH A&E this week and was delighted by the swift and kind service provided to him. Undoubtedly you saved his life and the family is indescribably grateful. Everything you did was efficient and caring. The attention to detail impressive and the clear information given to us and dad in ways he could understand even in his distress was excellent. As a retired nurse with over 36 years in the NHS its still astounding to me how impressive the service is even in the peak of demands and pressures. Well done all and thank you.
