Review titled Absolutely Brilliant Work
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Richard Burke - Posted on 26 September 2024
I had a black mark in my lower abdomen for about a year and when this got larger in June this year, I went to see my doctor here in Leeds. He sent me to the dermatology clinic in the Chapel Allerton Hospital (part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals) and the staff there immediately diagnosed malignant melanoma. I was operated on the following week, and when I went back for a check up a few weeks later I was told that I got the all clear. I found the staff and the whole experience absolutely outstanding. The people there were kind, patient, understanding and brilliant. I cannot thank them enough. I sent a message thanking them but the message was returned because I had named them — this silly rule had something to do with data protection ! Anyway, I am eternally thankful to the small group involved and again many, many thanks for your really great work. Richard Burke, Hyde Park, Leeds

Review titled Well done
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by frazzled01 - Posted on 03 April 2024
I needed to find information for my Mum on her medication and spoke with the department secretary who was very helpful and took all my concerns away, she was highly professional and very positive. I would like to say for the record that she dealt with my issues in a very productive and pleasant manner and I hope she gets the recognition she definitely deserves. She was very thoughtful... Well done the NHS !!!

Review titled No reception staff and bad signage in hospital
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Jennie - Posted on 15 March 2024
There was no reception, so nobody to ask there where to go as was not clear in entrance where the Orthopaedics department was. Had to ask a lovely volunteer lady who pointed the direction but not sure exactly where it was. The signs in this hospital are really bad and many other patients complained too as we all lost going round. The staff acknowledged this themselves and said they get many complaints about this and the fact there is nobody on reception either. All staff we spoke to from volunteers to the Dr my husband saw were all very pleasant and friendly but the worst hospital I ever visited for getting lost easily which could be addressed without too much expense!

Review titled Excellent service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have been seen in the Rheumatology outpatients department since August 2023 and have been very impressed with the Chapel Allerton Hospital’s out patients’ procedures. I do hope that due recognition is given to whoever is responsible for the organisation of the process, which I believe must be world leading and we offer our congratulations. On each of the 3 occasions we have attended an outpatients appointment for myself, we have been kept fully informed and I have been able to take the follow up processes (blood tests, Dopler test, x-ray, ECG, capillaroscopy) at the same time as my appointment) plus advice given face to face, with some tests arranged separately (pulmonary function tests, MRI, physiotherapy.) We have been quite astonished and very pleased with the service, particularly as, largely housebound, I find it very difficult to attend appointments and suffer from the after effects of the adrenaline needed to attend for some time, which makes me unable to rest or sleep until the adrenaline calms down. All staff we met from arriving to leaving, were courteous and helpful, a first class service! Thanks to all.

Review titled Prolonged waiting
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by David Bunyan - Posted on 20 February 2024
Visited Chapel Allerton with my wife. She was seen within a reasonable time of her appointment but waited nearly 1 hour for blood tests. The staff were unapologetic for the wait and did little to improve the situation. This is unacceptable.

Review titled Appointment Cancelation inappropriate
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 February 2024
Unfortunately I visited the hospital with my mother in law who has to have a wheel chair for mobility we had a appointment for the Rheumatology clinic but was told her appointment was cancelled last month, and we sent a text to her house phone she is 92 and hard of hearing and no answer phone. This obviously is the incorrect method and a letter stating the new date and time for a rescheduled appointment is more appropriate option unfortunately new technology is not the same for every one concerned.
