Review titled Long wait but worth while
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by AnaJ - Posted on 19 March 2024
I attended the urgent care centre on a Sunday afternoon with my 2 young children. The wait was really long, we were there for more than 6 hours and there is literally nothing there for the little kids to entertain them. Even the tv wasn’t on. This really needs addressing as it was a really painful wait for all of us. That being said, once we were seen - the doctor was friendly and helpful (I can only imagine the abuse he must have been receiving considering how long people were waiting). He diagnosed and prescribed medication and my little one is better now. Very grateful for the urgent care centre and service we received from the lovely young doctor we saw (once we eventually got seen)

Dear Anaj, I'm sorry to hear about your experience at the urgent care centre. Long wait times can be frustrating, especially when you have young children with you. It's important for healthcare facilities to address this issue and provide a comfortable environment for patients and their families. I'm glad to hear that once you were seen, the doctor was friendly and helpful. It's important for healthcare professionals to provide compassionate care, especially in situations where patients have had to wait for an extended period of time. It's understandable that the doctor may have been under a lot of pressure due to the long wait times, but it's commendable that they were still able to provide quality care. Kind Regards Patient Experience Team

Review titled Don't waste your time on urgent treatment in this hospital
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 March 2024
I have been in the Urgent Treatment Center. I had severe back pain. After 4 hours of waiting with severe pain, the doctor examined me and explained the problem in detail. But, he told me the probable disease that I have, needs an MRI to diagnose. He said it would not be seen in an X-ray. Because they do not have an MRI in this hospital, he suggested I tell my GP and make an appointment for an MRI. However, when I told and explained the situation to my GP, it did not go like that. I did not know the process between the hospital and GP and it was my first time in the urgent care center. GP directed me to an X-ray which would not work in my situation as the urgent care treatment center told me. If the doctor in the urgent treatment center thought an MRI was needed, he could refer me to the hospital for having MRI. Or give me a letter to give my GP because my words to the GP did not work. I've wasted more than 4 hours by going to this urgent treatment center. Apart from examining me, they did not do anything to make the muscles relax. They just left me with this severe pain.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience at the Urgent Treatment Center and the confusion that arose when you tried to communicate your situation to your GP. It can be frustrating when there is a lack of coordination between healthcare providers. While I can't change what has already happened, I can provide you with some general information and suggestions that might help you moving forward. To address your situation, I would suggest taking the following steps: Contact the Urgent Treatment Centre where you received your initial examination and explain the situation. They may be able to provide you with a letter or initiate the referral process themselves. Schedule another appointment with your GP to discuss your symptoms, the recommendation for an MRI, and any documentation or letters you have received from the Urgent Treatment Centre. This will give you an opportunity to ensure that your GP has all the necessary information to make an informed decision about the next steps in your care. Any additional information then please contact our PALS Team on 02083751328 and we will be happy to help. Kind Regards Patient Experience Team

Review titled Infected Wound from Urgent Care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 31 January 2024
My mum attended the urgent treatment centre to redress a wound. She had been seeing nurses for 3 weeks without any problems. After being refused at her doctor's surgery my mum had no choice but to attend the urgent treatment centre where she had her wound redressed with 'special packing' at Chase Farm. She now has developed a serious infection. It is clear the nurse was not qualified to carry out the would redressing and took no hygene measures either. If nurses can't change simple wounds, I'm not sure who would be able to.

Dear Anonymous, Based on the information you provided, it seems that your mum had been seeing nurses for three weeks without any problems. However, when she was refused at her doctor's surgery, she had no choice but to attend the urgent treatment center at Chase Farm, where her wound was redressed with 'special packing' . Unfortunately, she has now developed a serious infection, and you believe that the nurse who carried out the wound redressing was not qualified and did not take proper hygiene measures. If you still feel that this might be the case then we can look into your complaint and carry out a full investigation into the care your mother received. Please contact the PALS Team on 02083751328. I have been waiting a year to see someone in the dermatology dept. Appointment has now been canceled for the 5th time. Meanwhile my situation has worsened. There is not even a direct line to this department so I can’t even talk to anyone about my concerns. Next appointment now in April if they don’t cancel again.

Review titled Children’s phlebotomy
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Miss Amin - Posted on 20 December 2023
I arrived on 20th December with my child, who had had not so good experiences of blood tests. I was done within 5 mins. Unfortunately I didn’t catch her name however the phlebotomist was clearly very experienced with children, as able to calm and engage my child as she drew the blood. What an excellent experience at a time when the NHS are getting bad press. Thank you to this lady who has made so many parents and children’s experiences fantastic. You are the difference.
