  1. Review titled Fantastic Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jill - Posted on 30 October 2023

Following my recent visit to the Chedworth Surgical Unit, I wanted to express my deep thanks to all the staff there for looking after me so well. The department is spotless and very well run. I was very anxious after my surgical procedure and the staff in both the recovery and discharge wards were second to none. They could not have been more dedicated in helping with my recovery and ensuring I was well enough to be discharged, even escorting me to my husband who was waiting outside. You are all angels!

  2. Review titled Difficult to find clinic from the appointment letter!

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 August 2023

I had to take a disabled relation to this clinic as mentioned below on the appointment letter; 2 Week Wait Colorectal Outpatient Service - Cheltenham General Hospital - rte Could we find it, no! We asked many people, but they did not know where it was. We drove to the outpatient area but again no one knew where this clinic was! We phoned the number on the letter but that was only a booking office and they did not know the whereabouts of the clinic. Eventually I found a porter, who looked in the hospital internal telephone directory for something similar. He thought it might be the Prestbury Clinic. He then rang the extension number and confirm it was the correct clinic. He also found a wheel chair for my relation and we were able to get to the clinic, even if we were 20 minutes too late! I can't understand why the location of the clinic isn't included on the appointment letter, as that would have narrowed it down to at least one area within the hospital? E.g. (wb) West Block or (cr) College Road Wing, etc... I'm hoping you take notice of this problem and improve your systems accordingly... along with the capital letter filter on this web site...

  3. Review titled Fantastic caring staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had to attend gynaecology for a hysteroscopy. I was feeling quite nervous about this procedure but I couldn't have been in better hands. The staff were kind and caring and explained exactly what would happen. I was in and out in no time and very grateful for the reassurance and care I received.

  5. Review titled Helpful and Kind

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Angela James - Posted on 16 August 2023

I had a hysteroscopy, D & C, polyps removed and a mirena fitted. I was very nervous before hand, not of the procedure but of the pain afterwards. I was given the anaesthetic and then being woken up in recovery. I did have some pain and was given something for it, i was so surprised it was over so quickly. No embarrassment, gown was kept on before going into the theatre and then put to sleep and not knowing about anything afterwards. All the staff were extremely helpful and kind. The next day at home, one of the nurses rang to check i was ok, and i told him it was so surreal, that after a couple of weeks of worry and then done, given oramorph for pain relief at home and now back to normal. Hopefully i will never need anything like this again, but if i did, i wouldnt be worried.

  6. Review titled Empathy

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Today I underwent an echocardiogram at CGH. I have rarely encountered a more empathetic NHS staff member than the one who carried out the procedure during numerous dealings with the institution over recent years. We achieved an immediate rapport, which made the procedure as "enjoyable" as could be hoped for. Congratulations and thank you!

  7. Review titled Wonderful support and very caring staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Barbara - Posted on 25 August 2023

Having been diagnosed with a gynae cancer, I received radiotherapy, chemo and bracatherapy at Cheltenham hospital and I have nothing but the highest praise for all of the Oncology staff. They provided the highest levels of care and understanding and made the whole process much easier due to their professionalism and genuine care they give. From the chemo staff on Avening Ward, to the radiographers and their teams and the amazing bracatherapy team, your support, understanding and kindness really made a huge difference. The chemo helpline also deserves a mention as they provided additional support when I needed it. Thank you all so very much.

  8. Review titled Terrible signage - but helpful staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 June 2023

I advise bringing big ball of string and tying it to car door handle before entering hospital. Signage terrible, levels confusing. Took 15 mins to find way out from Radiology to Sandford Rd car park. But whenever we stopped and looked puzzled a member of staff unfailingly came over to ask if they could help us. But even they had difficulty explaining. By the way -brilliant staff in Radiology - so kind and efficient!

Good afternoon Thank you for taking the time to feedback to us. The layout of the hospital in Cheltenham is very difficult with differing unexpected levels and we do try to ensure that the signage is clear and unambiguous. I will pass your comments on to the relevant department. You did make me chuckle suggesting that visitors tie a piece of string to their car!

Visited fracture clinic this morning for removal of cast, xray and consultant appointment. Start to finish the process was incredibly efficient, with almost no waiting time between the steps. All staff were super helpful and friendly, which made the visit really quick and pleasant.
