Review titled Helpful and Kind
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Angela James - Posted on 16 August 2023
I had a hysteroscopy, D & C, polyps removed and a mirena fitted. I was very nervous before hand, not of the procedure but of the pain afterwards. I was given the anaesthetic and then being woken up in recovery. I did have some pain and was given something for it, i was so surprised it was over so quickly. No embarrassment, gown was kept on before going into the theatre and then put to sleep and not knowing about anything afterwards. All the staff were extremely helpful and kind. The next day at home, one of the nurses rang to check i was ok, and i told him it was so surreal, that after a couple of weeks of worry and then done, given oramorph for pain relief at home and now back to normal. Hopefully i will never need anything like this again, but if i did, i wouldnt be worried.

Review titled Empathy

Today I underwent an echocardiogram at CGH. I have rarely encountered a more empathetic NHS staff member than the one who carried out the procedure during numerous dealings with the institution over recent years. We achieved an immediate rapport, which made the procedure as "enjoyable" as could be hoped for. Congratulations and thank you!

Review titled Wonderful support and very caring staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Barbara - Posted on 25 August 2023
Having been diagnosed with a gynae cancer, I received radiotherapy, chemo and bracatherapy at Cheltenham hospital and I have nothing but the highest praise for all of the Oncology staff. They provided the highest levels of care and understanding and made the whole process much easier due to their professionalism and genuine care they give. From the chemo staff on Avening Ward, to the radiographers and their teams and the amazing bracatherapy team, your support, understanding and kindness really made a huge difference. The chemo helpline also deserves a mention as they provided additional support when I needed it. Thank you all so very much.

Review titled Terrible signage - but helpful staff
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 June 2023
I advise bringing big ball of string and tying it to car door handle before entering hospital. Signage terrible, levels confusing. Took 15 mins to find way out from Radiology to Sandford Rd car park. But whenever we stopped and looked puzzled a member of staff unfailingly came over to ask if they could help us. But even they had difficulty explaining. By the way -brilliant staff in Radiology - so kind and efficient!

Good afternoon Thank you for taking the time to feedback to us. The layout of the hospital in Cheltenham is very difficult with differing unexpected levels and we do try to ensure that the signage is clear and unambiguous. I will pass your comments on to the relevant department. You did make me chuckle suggesting that visitors tie a piece of string to their car!

I had a uveitis flare, call the ophthalmology department at 10am that morning. I was seen at 11:45 the same morning for triage and had been diagnosed by the Consultant by 12:15. Brilliant staff and service

Visited fracture clinic this morning for removal of cast, xray and consultant appointment. Start to finish the process was incredibly efficient, with almost no waiting time between the steps. All staff were super helpful and friendly, which made the visit really quick and pleasant.

Review titled Two hours and still waiting
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 April 2023
Arrived for appointment to find others already waiting over an hour. Notice on wall said delay 40-60 minutes. We have now been waiting over two hours for an appointment. No updates, glacial speed of service, staff walk past and don’t engage or offer updates. I’m here as a carer and son has now had to cancel days work. Three other patients seen in the last two hours. Something is very wrong if this is considered appropriate customer service. We would have left an hour ago, but decided to wait as the 10am appointment was finally seen at 11.40am. I wish we had gone home and re-booked.

Attended CGH for meniscal repair today(knee arthroscopy). Staff at Painswick(Orthapaedic Assessment Suite) were wonderful from the start. Every professional I came into contact with was compassionate & kind. Communication was brilliant & I was left with no un-answered questions. The team in the Anaesthesia team were warm & kept my nerves to a minimum with their humour, which was very much appreciated, being my first time under general anaesthetic. The care on Snowshill was 10/10, really. Naturally, I felt a bit vulnerable after surgery. However, the commitment shown to helping me feel as comfortable as possible, was crystal clear. I appreciate all of those who I came into contact with today. Thank you.
