Review titled Kind & helpful
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Angela - Posted on 24 October 2024
Attended Chorley eye clinic on the 21st October. Confused over appointments as see different specialities however, the receptionist at the eye centre looked up all my appointments and put them all on an appointment card for me- she didn’t have to do this but took the time and patience to help me which I really appreciated. In the eye clinic the male nurse was kind, considerate and gentle and put me at ease. He explained everything fully and I didn’t feel like I was taking all his time up which is unusual at hospital appointments. Thank you for the taking the time to help me it made a world of difference.

Review titled Fantastic experience despite being busy
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by MAP - Posted on 27 September 2024
The porter, the receptionist, the triage nurse, the phlebotomist, the junior doctor and the consultant were simply fantastic from the beginning to the end of my visit to Acute Medical Assessment unit. At a time when the NHS is struggling, the staff provided excellent services within the available resources. Honesty, integrity and compassion can easily be sensed. The patients in the waiting room recognised and stayed grateful. The doctors stayed overtime just to help out and finish the tasks in hand. Please convey our gratitude to the consultant, the junior doctors and all the staff. Kindest regards

Review titled Unsympathetic service breast care unit
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Louise - Posted on 26 September 2024
Recent experience very poor Over the 5 years of being involved with the breast care unit at Chorley, the service has been cold and non sympathetic. It’s unbelievably got worse! The breast care nurses now hide behind a triage automated phone message and never return calls. Are they really so busy sign posting people that they can’t spare time to care for patients? I had a mammogram 2 weeks ago. The radiographer said the results would be known that day. Why the awful wait before being told the result. What caring person could find it acceptable that ‘It’s gone for typing’ is acceptable when they’re supposed to be supporting patients. The unit used to be packed out. Not even an admin. Person now. Are there drastically reduced numbers of nurses, appointments? Please provide results in a more timely manner- there really is no excuse

Review titled Outstanding Mental Health Awareness
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Joseph Campbell - Posted on 30 August 2024
My brother went in for spinal surgery on 28/08 and received such care and attentiveness from the team. Due to complex mental health and autism, we requested a room on his own, which was no trouble at all. Everyone, including the nurses, physical therapists, OT, surgeons, anaesthetists and everyone in between, was so brilliant with him. He was treated with such respect and given a voice throughout whilst acknowledging the extra care he needed from his mum and brother. Taking his fidget to the surgery room along with his mum was no problem at all, and such patience was shown following the operation when he was in pain. I've worked in mental health services for the past 6 years in Manchester, as well as visiting multiple hospitals with my brother, and it's rare to find person-centred care like this that isn't just going through the motions. Thank you for being so brilliant!

Review titled Frustration all the way.
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Frustrated - Posted on 16 July 2024
My wife and I have spent six and a half hours over two days, on the telephone trying to cancel an appointment at the Chorley Fracture Clinic. we have been faced with wrong numbers, waiting for an hour or so when number one in the queue (with no advancement before the line went dead), automated answerphone and no human answering at any time. Six and a half hours of waiting with the `phone to our ears you may remember. Is it any wonder that patients simply do not turn up for appointments on the day? They probably spent hours doing the mannered thing and not being able to contact the department and eventually giving up. Two weeks ago, my wife had to attend the fracture clinic with an appointment just after 9 a.m.. She was eventually called in at 11 a.m. for a three minute consultation. Efficient or not? The department either needs more staff perhaps on a switchboard, or a much simpler communication system because at the moment, it is in no way fit for purpose.

Review titled Nice experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I recently attended the dermatology clinic with my brother in law. He has had troubled skin for years and exhausted every option available to him. The advanced nurse practitioner has allowed him to use an injection (which works miracles) however he does need funding for. We are eternally grateful for this as it’s given him another chance at life in a body he feels comfortable in. The experience was nice from the moment we walked through the doors. Thank you again to all staff!

My son was admitted with severe dehydration every member of staff we had contact with was polite professional and caring his needs were met promptly and appropriately and even though the department was super busy they made time to check I was ok also the staff were alway cheerful you could hear them looking out for each other asking if help was needed breaks taken etc just a really great team we were in the department for quite a few hours until my son was able to be moved to MAU and the team were in and out of the cubicle doing all the observations and we felt totally safe I feel a lot could be learned from the management of this department it’s an absolute star in the Lancashire teaching hospital group

Review titled Changing appointments
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Pat Donovan - Posted on 09 April 2024
I have tried over 20 times to change an orthopaedic outpatient appointment, it is always busy or rings out. This is my 3 rd appt as previously doctor was sick and I arrived at an appointment that did not exist. If you wish people to turn up for appointments then telephones need to be manned appropriately. I have used main switchboard and was put through to a strange place.
