  1. Review titled A&E Reception Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Carol - Posted on 19 March 2024

Visited an and e at Chorley with elderly mother on Monday 19/3/24. The staff on reception, particularly 1 person (you know who u r) was amazing. Just the kind of person you wish to meet during a very stressful situation. She was patient, kind, compassionate, caring, informative and very importantly honest. You provided an exceptional service. Thank you. All the staff at Chorley are under extreme pressure with limited resources and do an exceptional job.

  2. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Arrived yesterday with a blood stained bandage around my head and helmet after a mountain bike accident. Was treated promptly and courteously by every member of staff I encountered. Triage occurred within minutes and treatment very shortly afterwards. Was checked very carefully for head injuries before the cut was treated. It required steri strips and glue as the nurses intent on closing the wound as neatly as possible to avoid future scarring around my eyebrow. They were gentle and comforting as well as joking with me about the black eye that was beginning to show. Couldn’t have had better service.

  4. Review titled Mixed responses

Laser Ablation. Excellent receptionist, cafe staff, theatre man who let me grab his hand throughout the procedure and to converse with me to take my mind off the pain. The surgeon did his job well. Could have done with understanding if I could have had more local anaesthetic, about the pain after the operation and the awful lumps and terrible bruising - aubergine and dark gold. Poor, no pain relief to leave with - I was in agony so took the only meds we had in 25 miles away - Ibuprofen. Phoned the next day and was told by someone who sounded alarmed, that I shouldn’t have taken that med as it contained blood thinner and I was already injecting myself with a thinner. I was afraid. The anti embolism stockings were completely the wrong length but apparently the standard size. My legs are 33 ins. The stocking rolls down all the time and caused restriction at the back of my knee. It was most distressing. The NHS should not issue unfit for purpose goods. I still have a red mark of about 6 ins long on my thigh front where something sharp was run down my leg, after which something less sharp was run down the same line. Too many pieces of paper information were given to me along with too hurried instructions. I was very confused and distressed. Thank goodness for the 111 service at Morecambe Hospital and Lancaster Royal Infirmary, who gave me meds for a blood clot, which I knew I could get. Chorley Hospital did ensure that I was given the med for injecting myself. I am grateful to the surgeon and I think I should have asked more questions to begin with but I did do quite a lot of research about the operation but obviously not enough. I wonder what happens to my words? Few reviews receive a written response from relevant staff. I would like to receive a response, please. Thank you for listening.

  5. Review titled Not too shabby!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Waiting area is far too small/dreary but I digress as this is not a place to go and have fun. Was booked in by a great reception person, triaged by a great nurse and treated by a great doctor. Always feels bad that these places are the ones you fall back on when you cant get in to your own GP but quite frankly, they are fantastic. Can get a drink from the vending machine or a snack. Smash a tele up on the wall lads and I might get ill a bit more often and pop back up to see you all!! Serious note - thank you for all you guys do. Would 100% recommend Chorley Urgent Care centre. Great job.

  6. Review titled Phenomenal staff and service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The hospital facilities for MRI scans are outstanding and the staff are very friendly and reassuring. I suffer from claustrophobia and I have had many scans in the past and my anxiety leading up to my latest scan was unbearable but technology has come a long way and on my latest scan they have introduced a mirror so you can see the outside which reduced my anxiety greatly. Whoever thought of this needs a pat on the back. When I am being booked in for my next scan then Chorley Ribble hospital will be my choice. Thank you so much.

  7. Review titled Reasonable staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

However, nothing to say how long the wait time was and you are just left for hours trying to figure out who came in before you so you can assess how long you might be there for, the staff are helpful when you book in but after that not so much. I left after 5 hours without being seen because I was exhausted and couldn’t sit on those awful hard chairs any longer! We are expected to revere the staff and Doctors and not make waves or complain, there is no heart or compassion anymore it truly is a sinking ship!

  8. Review titled Disappointing care and no compassion

Rated 1 star out of 5

I attended urgent care because I was heavily bleeding from a miscarriage. This wasnt my local hospital as we were just visiting the area. At the desk they could see I was in extreme pain and offered no chair or to take me to a separate room because of the sensitivity of the situation. Another patient in the waiting room offered me a wheelchair. I asked for some sort of pad which they couldn’t provide and I was told “they weren’t an A&E”. The ward clerk was trying to help and got the assessment nurse to come and see me as soon as possible. In the assessment the language used was extremely insensitive and degrading to the situation I was going through. I was experiencing an anxiety attack and was told to “just calm down”. After another heavy bleed and being told to wait in the waiting room, I was then told to just go to Preston. Luckily I knew this area and where to go but for a patient out of area experiencing this it could have been catastrophic. I later lost 2-3Litres of blood and needed emergency surgery. My experience of this hospital was extremely disappointing and traumatic unfortunately. I felt no care or compassion or even a helping hand.

  10. Review titled Repeated appointment cancellations

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Russell Graham Murray - Posted on 27 January 2024

Appointment date: 27.11.23- cancelled Appointment date 29.11.23 - cancelled - Dr was ill Appointment date 28.02.24 - cancelled - Dr was ill Lth Patients appointments advised that Doctor was ill on 29.11.23 and apparently would be ill on 28.02.24. Rescheduled appointments are so far + 3months, and Patient appointments advise that such cancellations and rescheduling can extend for an unlimited time. Can Dermatology explain this or not?
