  1. Review titled Frustration all the way.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Frustrated - Posted on 16 July 2024

My wife and I have spent six and a half hours over two days, on the telephone trying to cancel an appointment at the Chorley Fracture Clinic. we have been faced with wrong numbers, waiting for an hour or so when number one in the queue (with no advancement before the line went dead), automated answerphone and no human answering at any time. Six and a half hours of waiting with the `phone to our ears you may remember. Is it any wonder that patients simply do not turn up for appointments on the day? They probably spent hours doing the mannered thing and not being able to contact the department and eventually giving up. Two weeks ago, my wife had to attend the fracture clinic with an appointment just after 9 a.m.. She was eventually called in at 11 a.m. for a three minute consultation. Efficient or not? The department either needs more staff perhaps on a switchboard, or a much simpler communication system because at the moment, it is in no way fit for purpose.

  2. Review titled Nice experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I recently attended the dermatology clinic with my brother in law. He has had troubled skin for years and exhausted every option available to him. The advanced nurse practitioner has allowed him to use an injection (which works miracles) however he does need funding for. We are eternally grateful for this as it’s given him another chance at life in a body he feels comfortable in. The experience was nice from the moment we walked through the doors. Thank you again to all staff!

My son was admitted with severe dehydration every member of staff we had contact with was polite professional and caring his needs were met promptly and appropriately and even though the department was super busy they made time to check I was ok also the staff were alway cheerful you could hear them looking out for each other asking if help was needed breaks taken etc just a really great team we were in the department for quite a few hours until my son was able to be moved to MAU and the team were in and out of the cubicle doing all the observations and we felt totally safe I feel a lot could be learned from the management of this department it’s an absolute star in the Lancashire teaching hospital group

  6. Review titled Changing appointments

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Pat Donovan - Posted on 09 April 2024

I have tried over 20 times to change an orthopaedic outpatient appointment, it is always busy or rings out. This is my 3 rd appt as previously doctor was sick and I arrived at an appointment that did not exist. If you wish people to turn up for appointments then telephones need to be manned appropriately. I have used main switchboard and was put through to a strange place.

  7. Review titled A&E Reception Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Carol - Posted on 19 March 2024

Visited an and e at Chorley with elderly mother on Monday 19/3/24. The staff on reception, particularly 1 person (you know who u r) was amazing. Just the kind of person you wish to meet during a very stressful situation. She was patient, kind, compassionate, caring, informative and very importantly honest. You provided an exceptional service. Thank you. All the staff at Chorley are under extreme pressure with limited resources and do an exceptional job.

  8. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Arrived yesterday with a blood stained bandage around my head and helmet after a mountain bike accident. Was treated promptly and courteously by every member of staff I encountered. Triage occurred within minutes and treatment very shortly afterwards. Was checked very carefully for head injuries before the cut was treated. It required steri strips and glue as the nurses intent on closing the wound as neatly as possible to avoid future scarring around my eyebrow. They were gentle and comforting as well as joking with me about the black eye that was beginning to show. Couldn’t have had better service.

  10. Review titled Mixed responses

Rated 3 stars out of 5

    by Elaine F - Posted on 25 May 2024

Laser Ablation. Excellent receptionist, cafe staff, theatre man who let me grab his hand throughout the procedure and to converse with me to take my mind off the pain. The surgeon did his job well. Could have done with understanding if I could have had more local anaesthetic, about the pain after the operation and the awful lumps and terrible bruising - aubergine and dark gold. Poor, no pain relief to leave with - I was in agony so took the only meds we had in 25 miles away - Ibuprofen. Phoned the next day and was told by someone who sounded alarmed, that I shouldn’t have taken that med as it contained blood thinner and I was already injecting myself with a thinner. I was afraid. The anti embolism stockings were completely the wrong length but apparently the standard size. My legs are 33 ins. The stocking rolls down all the time and caused restriction at the back of my knee. It was most distressing. The NHS should not issue unfit for purpose goods. I still have a red mark of about 6 ins long on my thigh front where something sharp was run down my leg, after which something less sharp was run down the same line. Too many pieces of paper information were given to me along with too hurried instructions. I was very confused and distressed. Thank goodness for the 111 service at Morecambe Hospital and Lancaster Royal Infirmary, who gave me meds for a blood clot, which I knew I could get. Chorley Hospital did ensure that I was given the med for injecting myself. I am grateful to the surgeon and I think I should have asked more questions to begin with but I did do quite a lot of research about the operation but obviously not enough. I wonder what happens to my words? Few reviews receive a written response from relevant staff. I would like to receive a response, please. Thank you for listening.
