Review titled Disappointing
Rated 1 star out of 5
by A Clark - Posted on 22 May 2023
After bring my wife to A/E on Saturday after an NHS Dr tried to remove a cyst from her stomach.which wasn't a cyst leaving a 3'' cut.. 2'' deep... standing in a pool of blood in A/E the staff in that department were brilliant..... couldn't do enough to help.... then moved to a ward.... staff on that ward have been great... it's the surgeons over the last 2 days nil by mouth from 2am until 7pm incase they can fit her in for surgery. Each day gets to 7pm then she's told it's no surgery is going to be done until tomorrow... because somebody more important has gone to surgery.... how does that work.... shes important to me and my family... if I'd have taken 1 of my pets to the vets they would've got better treatment.....let's hope I'm never I'll enough to be kept in there

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback regarding your wife's care and I am sorry for any inconvenience or further stress this may have caused. I have passed your comments on the Matron for A&E for their attention. I would like to also forward this to the Matron and Sister for the ward were your wife is being treated but to do so would require some further information. If you happy to do so please give me a call at your convenience on 01473 702101. Many thanks Steve Bruce - Patient Experience Team

Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Charlotte Edwards and family - Posted on 28 May 2023
My mother was in West Bergholt Ward for a week before her death yesterday. We’re so, so grateful for the kindness & compassion shown by the staff, both to her and to us. They really couldn’t have cared for her any better. Thank you so much from all of us.

Review titled Love in action
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Impeccable service in all aspects from admittance to discharge. The care and attention to every detail of the experience was inspirational to me. Following hip replacement surgery the recovery ward is a pleasant and reassuring place prior to returning to the ward I was in for three days. The six bed ward is a hive of activity and all observations and other necessary functions are performed in a professional and friendly manner. I found the food tasty, well cooked and nicely presented. I would give Colchester hospital full marks and recommend it without any hesitation a positive and uplifting experience.

It was my 2nd visit to the Urology dept..3rd visit in total. Again I received excellent an friendly service from nurses and the doctor. Not a wonderful examination to have (flexible Cystoscopy) but not too painful.Very informative doctor chatting after. All in all was excellent service here. Sometime we only give bad reviews so nice to eave good ones when deserved.

Review titled Excellent attention & Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Yvonne - Posted on 03 May 2023
Having visited a pharmacist who suggested seeing a Gp for a prescription needed to treat my brother(a visitor from Wales). Finding GP wasn't taking on new Patients, even temporary ones having waited 45 mins to find this out. Colchester urgent care came to our rescue, an amazing para Medic met our needs himself, no waiting & all members of staff polite & caring. Five star rating to all of you.

Review titled Frustrating and painful
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Theodora Ford - Posted on 07 May 2023
Following a dislocated elbow and fractured ulna I was treated in A&E then referred to orthopaedics for surgery to mend the ulna and stabilise the elbow with plate and screws. I arrived at the surgical ward at 11am and was duly prepared for the operation. At 5pm I was told there was no more theatre time and to go home. Thursday was suggested as the next time for the op but I heard nothing more. My elbow hurts, I can’t do a lot of things because of the plaster cast and I’m appalled at the lack of progress. Meanwhile, the broken Ulna is healing and will leave me with very restricted movement. I am very active, love gardening and play in three brass bands which I’ve been advised not to do. This is a great loss to me. I am now also very concerned that, because I’m over 70 I have been given very low priority and may not have the operation at all.

I attended A&E yesterday experiencing intense abdo pain. Right from the start the team were friendly and helpful. I was seen very quickly and my pain was managed very well. The whole team showed me care and compassion when I was feeling totally rubbish. I couldn't fault them and feel very grateful for their help and support.

Review titled Life Saving Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by John Gillies - Posted on 29 September 2024
In April, 2023, I had a prostatectomy. The cancer was right at the edge of the prostate, hence timely intervention made all the difference. At my request, a decision was taken to operate, though I was right at the cut-off age for the procedure. That decision was the right one. The operation itself was expertly managed and has proved a great success; so too has been the care I received in the lead-up and throughout the aftermath. I really appreciate this dedicated and sustained care, as it must have been at at time of great stress for the hospital. I can't thank the whole urology team enough for this. I am now extremely healthy and look forward to many more years of healthy living.
