Review titled Disappointed
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 May 2024
I was notified by letter and text reminders for a telephone consultation on 23rd May 2024 and duly waited in for the call, (2 hours) which had not come by the end of the day. I tried ringing 'at the end of the day' as advised by the written communication I received, and was unable to be put through to the Cardiology department as 'the secretaries had all gone' (16.00). I have tried calling again this morning (24th May) and cannot progress beyond the answerphone on which I have left messages requesting that someone have the courtesy to call me and let me know what's going on. While I appreciate that specialist staff may be in great demand, the lack of communication is not acceptable.

Review titled Dermatology Department Review
Rated 5 stars out of 5

The receptionist was polite, helpful & approachable, she found time to answer queries from other patients & give directions to those who were lost. A very caring, kind, calm lady who clearly is an asset to the Department & hospital Trust. The nurse practitioner & consultant were very calm, professional & knowledgeable. I received treatment in a timely manner, clear explanations, & there were opportunities given to ask questions. I was treated with dignity & respect.Certainly a 10 out of 10 experience !

Review titled Attentive Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Emily Bowyer - Posted on 17 April 2024
I had our baby in Colchester Hospital having been admitted for reduced movements. From the First Lady we had look after us, to staff in the delivery suite, then the following aftercare on Lexden Ward, they were all second to none. The staff cannot do enough for you and truly are a credit to the NHS and their communities. I appreciate the difficulty they have when dealing with a large number of people with differing requirements for care but they do not discriminate and are willing to spend time explaining what needs to be done and what they are doing. A special mention to the delivery team and the midwife who was in charge on night shifts who were absolutely amazing throughout. Child birth is one of the most traumatic experiences I have had but they are a credit to you All staff who had any involvement in my care I would request are sent this and reminded that they are truly appreciated for the work they do and care they showed me throughout my stay. You really did make a tough experience a positive one for me and one I will never forget for the rest of my life. Thank you.

Review titled Notorious for answering phones
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 April 2024
In all departments, the admin staff are notoriously reluctant to pick up phones. It is extremely rare for a caller to speak to someone when ringing. One always gets the voicemail saying they are too busy, really? Chatting or on their mobile? I left a message a week ago today for a return call which the voicemail said would be in 48 hours - still waiting, and same answer today when called again. Even after making allowance gor the bank holiday they have had ample time to return the call. Everyone says they never get through. What are the admin staff and managers doing? Privatise the admin services and they would soon find what it is like not picking up phone or telling people to wait for 48 hrs for a return call, and then simply not calling at all.

Review titled Excellent response to my situation
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Barry Highland - Posted on 05 June 2024
From the first consultation with my GP on 4/4/24 to the 5/524 completed scans and surgery to have tumour removed. The whole urology team along with the Kennedy Way surgery were extremely helpful and pro active in speedily treating my condition. We hear a lot of unpopular reports regarding the NHS, and I know that there are some of them that are true. But I am posting this, because I believe that the good news regarding the NHS should also be mentioned.

Please, you guys really need to pick up the phone. A nurse rang me in the morning today (5/4/24), to give me advance notification of an appointment for a procedure - the letter would shortly be in the post. Upon checking my diary, I found that there was a clash with an appointment for a procedure at Ipswich Hospital. I have been beyond desperate trying to contact the above department to discuss this problem but to no avail. I have rang over 40 times today, and all I hear is " Sorry , your call cannot be answered at the moment. Please call again later.". How long is this 'moment' ???. I cannot have two operations in the space of two days ..... so please will you pick up ????

Review titled Appalling outpatient communication
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Sally Hope - Posted on 22 April 2024
When I received my appointment letter, for a planned procedure,I enquired straight away where it was as I knew their was not a clacton ward at colchester hospital. I even had a phone call the week before to confirm the date, time and clacton. 3 day diet and bowel prep. on arrival no one there. A member of reception team who noticed we had been waiting on the cameras came to assist us, managed to find another member of staff who contacted colchester hospital,to find I should have gone there. To you both, I cant thank you enough for getting them to wait untill we travelled there and got my procedure done. To the person who phoned me and told me to go to clacton, you should be disciplined for the stress and upset you caused. When appointment letters are sent out make sure they have the correct location on.
