Review titled Great from admission to discharge.
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was admitted to Stanway ward for a hysterectomy. I was extremely anxious and from the moment I arrived everyone from the HCA (who was so kind to me) to the nurses, anesthetist, his assistant, the consultant were all amazing. I could not fault my care one bit. I felt reassured and well looked after. The cleaning and food were great. I came away well informed, with a number to call should I have any concerns. Even saw a physio before leaving. Great care, great service. Thank you Stanway Ward.

Review titled Excellent, prompt service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Paul Dawson - Posted on 10 July 2024
I cannot believe the service we receiced today. I brought my daughter to outpatients for an 11 o'clock appointment. She was seen by 10 past eleven, had her plaster cast replaced, saw a doctor and we were back in the car by 11.45. Unbelieveable. This is a shing example of what the NHS should be. If we had gone to Basildon Hospital. no doubt we would still be sitting there. Well done and heartfelt thanks. X

Review titled Excellent caring staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5

My wife finished her 25 treatments of radiotherapy yesterday in the radiotherapy Centre at Colchester hospital and rang the bell. From the receptionist who was exceptionally helpful and all the staff who were so kind and professional making a difficult time pleasantly bearable. They were all an absolute credit to the hospital.

Review titled The staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Natalie Baulch - Posted on 13 July 2024
I had my baby at Colchester Hospital and despite the fact my birth wasn’t ideal the staff made this experience 10 times better! They are so lovely and patient and will drop everything to help you out. From the labour ward to the birthing suites to the theatre unit, they make you feel calm by being so in control of every situation and by being the friendliest kindest souls I’ve ever met! I can’t boast about all the staff in the maternity unit enough! What a dream they are and thank you all for helping me deliver safely my beautiful baby!

Review titled Torture for patients
by Anonymous - Posted on 16 July 2024
The staff work their socks off and the stress they're under is huge. The set up is inhumane. People queuing up in a vestibule crowded with people sitting in wheelchairs trying to fill out a form when you're feeling like death is just so wrong. I know the nursing staff and receptionist are working really hard, but there's no smiles, no compassion, no gentleness. People in A&E are feeling at their worst, scared, maybe in pain. They have loud music blaring which is the last thing you want when you're feeling terrible. If you work in a hospital dealing with people in any way then smiling, kindness and understanding should be part of the job but that's definitely not the culture in this department. The doctors were better at this in my experience though. I know the job is really stressful and you have to put on a shell to some degree to protected yourself but please don't abandon kindness. Seeing such elderly people or very sick people with nowhere to lie down for hours when they were suffering so much broke my heart. Surely we should set higher standards for how we treat patients.

Review titled Excellent practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Michael Timms - Posted on 05 August 2024
Arriving at A&E to discharge the treatment I received was exemplary. I went to A&E complaining of a tingling sensation. I was triaged taken, to A&E where I was given a ECG. From there I was sent to have a head scan, after bloods were taken. After the head scan I was given the results of the above by a doctor who informed me everything was ok. The doctor arranged, through my GP practice, an appointment with a physiotherapist and recommended an MRI scan. During the whole process I was treated with dignity and kindness. I believe our NHS is a magnificent institution, staffed by tremendous caring staff.

Review titled Elective Care Get 5 Stars
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sean - Posted on 16 July 2024
I was very nervous about my surgery but the whole process was calm and well organised and the nursing staff were so nice. I also want to thank the anaesthetist and theatre staff who really put me at ease and made the experience much easier than it would have been. I have a lot of anxiety and I really appreciate their kindness. My surgeon was so reassuring and kind before and after my surgery. She could write a book on bedside manor.

Review titled Great staff at out patients dept.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Pauline Clarke - Posted on 17 May 2024
I’ve just come back from my out patients appointment where once again I have nothing but praise for all the efficient staff who make the whole experience as smooth as possible. The orthopaedic consultant that I’m not allowed to name specialises in knees. I’m a very lucky patient to have such wonderfully skilled professional doctors and nurse specialists. I worked in the hospital setting for 40 years, mostly as a nursing sister in Intensive Care and I’m fully aware of the pressure that hospital staff are under. A massive thank you to all, especially Mr A
