  1. Review titled Amazing from start to finish

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Manships - Posted on 17 July 2024

Our 11 month old son was admitted by the GP, as soon as we arrived at the Children’s assessment unit the staff were attentive and kind. We were quickly seen by a doctor, no long waits. A diagnoses was quickly established and treatment started straight away. The team on the children’s ward, the doctors and ENT staff were all phenomenal. Nothing was ever too much, we were constantly attended to and all staff ensured we as worried parents were informed of everything that was being done and why, they made sure we were eating and drinking. The staff treated our son like their own, the level of love and care given to him was something I would hope every patient to receive. We stayed 4 nights, 3 in private rooms and 1 on shared ward. My partner suffers with a bad back and on his night stay in the hospital he was offered a bed to sleep in rather than the pull out chair bed which made his day, something so simple yet during sure a tough and scary time it was everything! During our stay it was evident there were a lack of drinking cups for younger babies/toddlers, were donated a number of sippy cups to the ward. On returning home with our son we received a lovely handmade thank you card from the ward, such a lovely personal touch! Amazing staff, a real credit to the hospital. In the future if we have any issues we will without hesitation be going back to Chester.

  3. Review titled Nightmare wait in A&E

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Kathie Griffiths - Posted on 25 June 2024

My elderly mother of 93 was taken to A&E after pressing her call line in distress and pain. She couldn’t walk and her blood pressure was very low. Initially, they wanted us to wait in the waiting room, but after some discussions a very helpful Porter found a bed to enable her to be in the corridor. That’s where she stayed for 15 hours having to go on the commode in the corridor in front of everyone. Eventually, she was assigned a bed and then she was moved around the hospital four times. There was No ward for her to go to so they created makeshift wards firstly in respiratory and then in cardiac catheter which are meant to be Day Wards. No shower facilities and often only one toilet. The facilities and length of time it took are all unacceptable however the care from the nurses healthcare assistants and in particular from a junior doctor were excellent. The nurses were kind and patient and the doctor was empathetic knowledgeable explaining everything that was happening. Thank you to the team on the cardiac catheter ward for treating my mother with dignity and kindness. A big thank you to the junior doctor. Unfortunately, five days later after my mum having been in for six days fell we had a seven hour wait for the ambulance followed by two hours in the ambulance on the car park before once again claiming spot nine on a corridor of 10 patients. When did a corridor become a hospital ward? Once again the nurse and healthcare assistants on the corridor were very helpful and apologetic. This is not the fault of the healthcare workers. It is clearly a management and resource breakdown. Whilst in the makeshift ward, there were few facilities and they forgot to bring the food for lunch one day. On both occasions, her medication that she was regularly on took some time to be organised. I love the NHS, but there needs to be some radical changes. Maybe someone needs to step up and suggest we contribute to some of these services.

As the heading says --- all members of the team were accomodating and helpful . Even at the biopsy stage the team were keeping things upbeat. In addition - hats off to the secretarial team - who were prompt and welcoming throughout. Thanks again to the team.

  7. Review titled NHS may be struggling but…

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Liz Swift - Posted on 02 April 2024

My 101 year old mother spent about 7.5 hours in the A & E department after causing concern with her doctor. I was made welcome in the ambulance and on arrival and my mother treated with respect and sensitivity The NHS is truly struggling but do not blame the staff. From paramedic to porter from doctor to drinks trolley lady you were wonderful. My mother was treated with patience, kindness and professionalism. The department was very busy but the staff were patient and courteous to everyone. Assessing and treating patients in corridors is not ideal but these fantastic people made it work. You’ve always had my respect but the hands on staff have to be seen to be believed. Thank you Countess of Chester A & E for treating an elderly lady with dignity and giving a frightened lady the time. She returned happily to her care home and I was left feeling humbled by these overworked, underpaid amazing people.

  8. Review titled A positive experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Robert - Posted on 11 April 2024

Following a very good appointment at the respiratory dept where we were greeted by all staff positively and professionally. The Dr was very professional and diligent in his consultation and looked not just at the main problem but looked at the bigger picture holistically . He had red flagged a ct scan , despite concern and anxiety I was extremely grateful as within days I was referred to endoscopy suite where again I received positive treatment from state to finish . Thanks to this positive treatment I was reassured nothing sinister was present . We hear so much negativity about the NHS so thought I would write to give everyone some positive feed back . Thanks to all concerned . Keep it up and thanks it really does make a difference to be listened and cared for with compassion and empathy .

  9. Review titled Made a bad day a little easier

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Kirsty C - Posted on 22 April 2024

When your child has an accident in school it's just the worst feeling and then coupled with let's go sit in A&E for six hours just adds to the pain of seeing your child hurt. Well I attended with my son 22.04 and was in and out it 40 minutes! We first attended A&E seen in 10 mins and sent through to minor injuries where someone was already waiting for us to have my son's chin cleaned and glued very quickly and helped my son because super brave. Then because we where so quick my lift wasn't available yet so I was let back inside to sit in as the cold wind was nipping my son's fresh injury. Honestly turned a terrible day alot better. Thank you NHS so many under valued staff. Thank you to everyone that helped us today. You are all amazing.

  10. Review titled Wonderful staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mrs Eileen Clark - Posted on 12 March 2024

Arrived at g11 for ctc scan, welcoming staff everything explained clearly. I was nervous of the procedure but totally re-assured by the kindness of the nurses and ancilliary staff. The procedure was slightly uncomfortably, this I expected the after care was amazing. I am home and must thank all the staff on duty today. The nhs does not always get good reviews, my experience today was beyond excellent. Please publish this review and a give the staff a big thank you from me. Eileen
