  1. Review titled 21 people in A&E, 8.5 hour waiting time

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 March 2023

I've been here since 2300 it is currently 0605, bloods were taken at midnight, I was originally given a time of 1.5 hours, then 6 and now 8.5hrs. I fear that this time will increase further. I am not confident that I will be seen before 1000. This is a bit ridiculous.

  2. Review titled Efficient and caring

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Recently had daycase gynae surgery. The admission process via admissions lounge was highly efficient, seeing anaesthetist , consultant and nurse for bloods within half hour. My surgery commenced within the hour. All concerned were kind , empathetic and professional . This care followed through to ward 54 where again the care could not be faulted. Congratulations and Thankyou for your care.

  3. Review titled Vascular surgery and pre and post operative care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lorna Edmondson - Posted on 25 February 2023

My husband was admitted from Warrington General Hospital with a femoral aneurysm resulting in a deep vein thrombosis in his leg. The care he received on ward 53 was exceptional from consultants down to auxiliary staff both prior and after surgery . He underwent major surgery and was admitted to the intensive care unit, again receiving exceptional care from all the staff. I and my husband cannot thank all those involved in his care enough. He is now recovering slowly following a bypass of the artery and continues to receive excellent after care . Cannot praise the vascular unit enough

  4. Review titled Dismal A&E Experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 February 2023

I’m not going to waste too much of my time on this department as I’ve done enough of that already. I brought my elderly mother into A&E at approximately 10:30pm due to a suspected heart condition … first impressions was the amount of rubbish lying around and general dirtiness of the place, it was bitterly cold outside yet the ceiling air conditioning was also blowing freezing cold air on everybody in the waiting area including my elderly mother. The reception staff were more interested in chatting with each other than meeting the needs of incoming patients who just left standing at the office window, the Drs looked like they were on a go-slow as the waiting queue hardly moved for hours on end, it seemed like people were being placated with minor triage treatments to keep them quiet then left to their own devices not knowing what was happening or when … whilst the Drs tried to get their act together. After patiently waiting for 7hrs in the ‘freezing waiting room’ I asked reception about the queue length and was told 2 more hours? After 2 more hours I cornered a nonchalant looking dr about the queue … 2 more hours I was told, you do the maths! At that point my mother was looking and feeling worse than when she went into a&e! In her best interest I had to take her home and instead called her GP to treat her. She has now caught a chest infection and cold to add to her heart condition! I don’t know about other hospitals but coch A&E dept is an absolute joke! The operational management combined with the lacklustre attitude of the staff does not fill me or the other people who ‘cut their losses’ and had to leave without treatment. The issue is the staff want a pay rise and they are willing to risk patients health to get it … for the good of all? Don’t you have to perform to deserve more money, not the other way around? 2/10 for effort.

  5. Review titled Disappointed

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Just come back from the hospital having had a cancelled appointment. Nobody let me know. Apparently the Doc had phoned in sick. Still had to pay £3 for the car park. Don't like to call the hard working people of the NHS. But a text.

  7. Review titled My NHS Experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Andy Jessop - Posted on 01 February 2023

On Wednesday 25th January 2023 at about 2am I was suffering from severe abdominal pain which had been going on for about 3-4 days. I drove to the A & E Department of the Countess of Chester Hospial. At that time of the morning it wasn't too busy so I was seen realtively quickly. I was obviously in a lot of distress and was vomiting quite badly. The A & E doctor was absolutely marvellous. I was traeted professionally and also with care. I had a series of tests in a very short space of time, bloods, X rays, CT Scand and Ultra Sound. Basically my gall bladder was about to burst. The surgical team, got me a bed that morning and arranged immediate surgery that morning. I was taken to theatre and after 3 hours of key hole surgery the gall bladder was removed. I was put on Ward 40 and was looked after by the wonderful staff of Ward 40. It wsn't just the nursing staff but the cleaning staff and the all the other parts that make up the NHS team. I am not allowed to name the individual staff members but seeing these members of staff act in their each equally important roles has been a very uplifting experience. I saw the satff deal with 'difficult and rude' patients in a calm professional manner something which I know I could not have done. This is going to sound a bit weird but I am glad I went through this exprience as it has certainly changed my views about a lot of things. The NHS is a multi ethnic organisation and it is so much better for it. The staff at the Countess were fantastic, some of the patients not so much but I know the NHS is in good hands if the Countess is anything to go by.

  8. Review titled Incredible care in a very challenging environment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chloe Yardley - Posted on 14 February 2023

Thank you to all the staff at the Countess of Chester Hospital who cared for my Mum who became extremely unwell with pneumonia and atrial fibrillation on 2nd January 2023. She was admitted via A&E and from the onset received incredible treatment despite the hugely challenging environment the staff were working in. I was allowed to stay by her side and during the coming days encountered Nurses and Doctors that are a credit to the NHS. Every medical necessity was attended too whilst she was treated with respect and kindness, as was I. We really appreciate everything you did and the follow up treatment she is now receiving, thank you once more for the amazing jobs you all do.

Attended A and E with my partner. All staff were excellent. Care was amazing even though the staff were rushed off their feet. Hospital rang 9.00 am following morning to arrange a scan for that day. Thank you
