  1. Review titled Highest level of praise for all the staff.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David - Posted on 30 October 2024

a&e being a very busy department incured a wait for treatment which is understandable. All a&e staff work incredibly hard in challenging conditions, they're all true professionals whatever their roll, great team players too. I received treatment from a registra + dr. in a side room within a&e. My treatment was given with utmost respect, all my questions were answered, my condition was explained in laymans terms which I really appreciated. From the treatment room I was transferred to CDU for the next stage of treatment. The nurse running the ward was one of the busiest people I have ever met, "busiest of the busy" for sure. Considering how many patients were in CDU at the time, all of us received our treatment/care with utmost professinalism, nothing was too much trouble. I have the utmost respect for the nurse who ran the department that day. It's a huge comfort to know we're in safe hands throughout our care needs. A huge thank you to you all. p.s I wasn't allowed to use capital letters by the ai checker which is odd, capital letters show respect for professional standings.

  2. Review titled wonderful treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My husband brought me to a&e quickly when I had characters of a stroke. The team of doctors saw to me quickly and proceeded with treatment for a stroke. They then put me in bed and I was regularly monitored and checked for signs of a stroke, but I was back to normal by noon two days later. I had a cct and an mri that showed I had a small stroke, but thanks to the doctors and nurses, in particular ward 42, I was able to return home and was given medication to take. My care was wonderful, I can't say enough about them all.

  3. Review titled You are all so wonderful!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My wife was referred by her GP to SDEC for severe abdominal pain. During our time there, they were able to help her manage the pain and eliminate many potential causes. Throughout, the staff were very supportive and approachable, listening and undertanding of my wifes chronic conditions. Unfortunately the symptoms increased in severity. We decided to attend A&E after a calling 111. From arriving we noticed a really positive difference in how the Countess A&E works compared to others. Despite it being busy, staff were working to see people. The treatment ward team (especially the morning staff, wish I could mention their names) were fantastic: reassuring, looked after everyone and treated each person with dignity and respect. All the A&E staff, nurses, doctors and reception, were a golden example of NHS staff. The end result: we finally have the right answer to the problem, with a plan to treat it. Thank you!

  6. Review titled Amazing from start to finish

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Manships - Posted on 17 July 2024

Our 11 month old son was admitted by the GP, as soon as we arrived at the Children’s assessment unit the staff were attentive and kind. We were quickly seen by a doctor, no long waits. A diagnoses was quickly established and treatment started straight away. The team on the children’s ward, the doctors and ENT staff were all phenomenal. Nothing was ever too much, we were constantly attended to and all staff ensured we as worried parents were informed of everything that was being done and why, they made sure we were eating and drinking. The staff treated our son like their own, the level of love and care given to him was something I would hope every patient to receive. We stayed 4 nights, 3 in private rooms and 1 on shared ward. My partner suffers with a bad back and on his night stay in the hospital he was offered a bed to sleep in rather than the pull out chair bed which made his day, something so simple yet during sure a tough and scary time it was everything! During our stay it was evident there were a lack of drinking cups for younger babies/toddlers, were donated a number of sippy cups to the ward. On returning home with our son we received a lovely handmade thank you card from the ward, such a lovely personal touch! Amazing staff, a real credit to the hospital. In the future if we have any issues we will without hesitation be going back to Chester.

  8. Review titled Nightmare wait in A&E

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Kathie Griffiths - Posted on 25 June 2024

My elderly mother of 93 was taken to A&E after pressing her call line in distress and pain. She couldn’t walk and her blood pressure was very low. Initially, they wanted us to wait in the waiting room, but after some discussions a very helpful Porter found a bed to enable her to be in the corridor. That’s where she stayed for 15 hours having to go on the commode in the corridor in front of everyone. Eventually, she was assigned a bed and then she was moved around the hospital four times. There was No ward for her to go to so they created makeshift wards firstly in respiratory and then in cardiac catheter which are meant to be Day Wards. No shower facilities and often only one toilet. The facilities and length of time it took are all unacceptable however the care from the nurses healthcare assistants and in particular from a junior doctor were excellent. The nurses were kind and patient and the doctor was empathetic knowledgeable explaining everything that was happening. Thank you to the team on the cardiac catheter ward for treating my mother with dignity and kindness. A big thank you to the junior doctor. Unfortunately, five days later after my mum having been in for six days fell we had a seven hour wait for the ambulance followed by two hours in the ambulance on the car park before once again claiming spot nine on a corridor of 10 patients. When did a corridor become a hospital ward? Once again the nurse and healthcare assistants on the corridor were very helpful and apologetic. This is not the fault of the healthcare workers. It is clearly a management and resource breakdown. Whilst in the makeshift ward, there were few facilities and they forgot to bring the food for lunch one day. On both occasions, her medication that she was regularly on took some time to be organised. I love the NHS, but there needs to be some radical changes. Maybe someone needs to step up and suggest we contribute to some of these services.

As the heading says --- all members of the team were accomodating and helpful . Even at the biopsy stage the team were keeping things upbeat. In addition - hats off to the secretarial team - who were prompt and welcoming throughout. Thanks again to the team.
