Review titled Caring and professional care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 February 2024
I brought my elderly mother into A and E after she had fallen downstairs. She was assessed and treated within 3 hours and all of the staff were exceptionally kind to her and very professional in their approach. Very impressed overall with my mother's treatment.

Review titled Great experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Andrew James Johnstone - Posted on 12 February 2023
Attended day surgery unit Saturday 11th February for gallbladder removal. Arrived in unit 8am they checked blood pressure etc went through paperwork I was third gallbladder on the list was taken to theatre upstairs around 9.35am. Got changed into my gown out belongings in a bag Dr inserted a cannula taken into theatre ,very busy day literally one in and one out the previous patient was still in theatre when I was getting changed. Taken into theatre they re check the paperwork name ,allergies type of operation , permission etc etc. Anaesthetist says lie on table relax ,oxygen mask on ,injection of anaesthetic in the hand Dr says don't worry we'll take.....and that was all I heard ,started coming round in the recovery room an hour or so later. Plenty staff around I was pretty fuzzy for a few minutes then regained proper consciousness stayed there 15 minutes or so . They check blood pressure asked if I was in pain put dressings on my wounds Taken on trolley back to the day surgery arrival on ground floor stayed on the trolley maybe 20 minutes given some toast and a coffee. Then they get you out the trolley dressed and into a chair . They get you to go to the bathroom as you have to be able to pee before you can go home. Took blood pressure again got pain medication to take home final bits of paperwork . They said I could call my wife to come and collect me around 1.30pm ,she was just finishing work and collected me around 2.45pm. Day after now I'm a bit tender but loads of folks worse off than me. I'm very grateful to all the staff involved in my care and can't praise or thank them enough. I have no doubt others will have had different experiences but I can only comment for myself. Thanks again to all. Andrew Johnstone

Review titled Excellent service from NHS
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Peter Cartmell - Posted on 23 January 2023
This was my first time in hospital. The pre assessment appointment was very efficient. The videos on NHS Lifebox were very informative and useful. On the morning of the surgery I was invited in early due to a cancellation. The whole process was well organised and efficient. All staff were welcoming and friendly. My operation was a gall bladder removal by key hole surgery. I also had issues with a hernia and I was delighted when told that they had also "repaired" my hernia. They and I was delighted to have 2 opertions in 1. We live approx 1.5 hours away from the hospital. The staff kept in contact with my wife who was "killing time" in Carlisle with progress and time I would be released. I know I should not include names but my operation took place at the Elective Care Suite/theatre on the 21/01/2023.

Review titled Absolutely brilliant department!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Gill Slessor - Posted on 16 February 2023
I have been having treatment at the Cumberland Infirmary for an ongoing eye problem since the beginning of December. Every single member of the department I have come into contact with since my first visit has been supportive, caring and professional. The whole ophthalmology team obviously work well with each other - every one of them is reassuring, friendly, efficient and demonstrate great teamwork. Huge thanks to them all…

Review titled Well looked after
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was in a&e for 9 hours with my mam yesterday after she had fallen down the stairs. I was so impressed with the thorough investigations and the kindness of each staff member we spoke to despite the department being extremely busy and the pressure they are working under they were fantastic. Lots of moans and groans coming from the waiting room due to the waiting time to see a consultant which was disheartening when you could see how hard the staff were working. You are all a credit to the NHS.

Review titled Maternity & women’s outpatients
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Danielle Clarke - Posted on 04 January 2023
I was very nervous about many aspects of labour but I didn’t need to be. The maternity unit was very busy on the day I arrived but myself and my husband were looked after so well, everything was explained to me throughout the whole of delivery. Every member of staff we came into contact with was very friendly and helpful. I visited the women’s outpatients for scans and monitoring. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, they really looked after me. Thank you !

Review titled No response, again!
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Tim Riley - Posted on 13 November 2022
My wife and I have tried calling the hospital and asked to be put through to A&E several times, the phone rings for over 15 minutes with no response. We have a grand daughter admitted to hospital with severe respiratory issues and want an update. How difficult is it to put a receptionist on a phone in the appropriate ward whose task is to let nurses do their work and field questions from relatives. Our grand daughter is 3 months old...just
