Review titled Terrible Hospital
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Lauren - Posted on 01 July 2024
Terrible hospital. Took down my 1st review as they think I made a complaint when I didn’t. Go anywhere else to get help as this hospital will not help you. The consultant (the only one on shift) was terrible. The triage nurse was unhelpful. 95% of staff had no empathy and didn’t even bother to ask if I was ok and if I needed help when I was sobbing my heart out in pain. I do not recommend. Go anywhere else.

Review titled Excellent care.
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Had a gastroscopy procedure. Cannot fault the care and professionalism of the staff on the unit. Made me feel at ease and explained everything. Cannot speak highly enough of them. The cup of tea wasn't bad either.

Night staff went above and beyond for my mums family who were at her bedside when she was critically unwell, the staff made us a cup of tea and were very friendly and kept us informed of any changes.

Review titled Very professional and Caring
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kevin Ramsay - Posted on 30 May 2024
I was recently admitted to the AMU ward for heart problems. I arrived at A+E and understandably it was along wait to be seen but was prepared for this. The reception staff to the nurses in triage do an exemplary job in difficult circumstances. I was then moved to the AMU ward for several days. The staff on that ward from the caterers, porters, cleaners and nursing staff were absolutely fantastic, professional, caring and nothing was too much trouble. Always a smile on there face, take the time to talk to you. I could not fault the care received. Thank you to all the staff for doing an excellent job and going above and beyond

Rated 1 star out of 5
by Paul - Posted on 08 May 2024
Just wondering why there is an appointment booking service for blood when they allow walk ins to be done before appointments when I have specifically made an appointment due to having other things to be doing I think it is descusting that this is allowed to happen. I was late due to this for another appointment not very happy at least 2 walking were given number before me and dealt with even after my appointment time.

Review titled Outstanding care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Amanda - Posted on 11 April 2024
I had a wisdom tooth extracted, it was a quick and painless procedure. The doctor and nurse were caring and professional and made me feel reassured and safe. I couldn’t fault a single thing with the department from the reception staff to the nursing assistant who, as I have difficulty walking, took my prescription to the hospital pharmacy. This department and its staff are a credit to your hospital.

Review titled Poor service and doctors bodging
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Robert Cheyne - Posted on 15 March 2024
Attend a and e for a suspected broken ankle which turned out to be badly sprained, swollen, and bruised to which the doctor wraps a thin bandage which I explained to him it won’t do as I will constantly be putting new ones every 15 mins as he did not tape or offer to secure it properly apart from tucking it in on its self I asked would it be better to be braced and he point blank said the nhs don’t do braces which is a lie as he had one in the draw then changed his mind so I sat up the hospital from 10 in the evening till 6:30 in the morning to not even come away with an nhs prescription which I pay for anyway that’s exactly why I would recommend bupa over the nhs £50 a month to have a better quality of doctor not one that just thinks a bandage fixes all it wasn’t even a compression bandage

Dear Mr. Cheyne, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We truly value all perspectives, especially when they highlight areas where we can improve. We understand that visiting the Emergency Department can be a stressful and concerning time, and we apologise for any inconvenience or discomfort you may have experienced during your visit. It's important to note that in an Emergency Department, patients are triaged based on the urgency of their medical needs, with those requiring immediate attention receiving priority care. While this prioritisation is essential for delivering timely and life-saving interventions, we acknowledge that it may result in longer wait times for patients with less urgent conditions. Regarding prescription charges, we want to clarify that unless exempt, patients may be responsible for covering the cost of any prescribed medications obtained during their visit. We understand that navigating healthcare costs can be challenging, and we encourage patients to explore alternative options for obtaining affordable medications, such as purchasing over-the-counter remedies from pharmacies or supermarkets. Additionally, while private medical insurance can offer added peace of mind and access to a wider range of services, we understand that it may not be suitable for everyone. We recommend that individuals carefully review their insurance policies to ensure they align with their specific healthcare needs and preferences. Please know that we are committed to continually improving our services to better meet the needs of our patients. Kind regards, Darent Valley Hospital

Review titled Hideous discharge procedure
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Trish - Posted on 10 March 2024
I had intended to leave a 5 star review until I experienced my discharge. Around 9 pm I was taken to the “lounge” having been swopped into another patients bed and she mine with a possible change of linen. I had planned for my son to collect me when the pharmacy had readied my meds which was said to be on Sunday. However the “lounge” had the appearance and feeling of a cross between a warehouse and morgue, I called my son to collect me immediately which he did, leaving without my meds.I just felt really sorry for the really elderly people who perhaps did not have a phone and/or helpful son. Suffice it to say all of the other staff were absolutely wonderful with the exception of one catering lady whom I had reason to complain about. My complaint was expertly ,professionaly , and speedily resolved by a nurse and her superior to my great satisfaction.

Review titled Bad Experience
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 March 2024
I attended the Urgent Care Centre at Darent Valley Hospital for a suspected fracture to my foot. I had been in a lot of pain for several days and was unable to get a GP appointment for several weeks! The staff seem very cold and were more interested in making sure you stood in the right position rather than what was wrong with you. Waited for 6 hours in a packed waiting room before being seen by a nurse. The xray department were excellent but seemed very stretched. Following the xray had to go back to the waiting room to begin yet another wait-until i complained! Was eventually seen by the nurse but simply told that no fracture could be seen. Unable to explain why i was experiencing so much pain and unable to offer any medication for the pain-except to be told to purchase some paracetamol!! The whole experience left me dissatisfied and very sad that our NHS has come to this! Completely disorganised-no overall control and very disinterested staff!! Don't think i would bother going back to Urgent Care-cant see anything that appears urgent about it.? If patients are unable to access GP appointments quickly plus being let down by Urgent Care there is little hope.I was once told by a consultant orthopaedic surgeon that that no-one should have to put up with continuous pain without medical assistance!Well I'm afraid that doesn't seem to apply at Darent Valley Urgent Care centre.
