Review titled Wonderful care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Robert Morris - Posted on 03 June 2023
Arrived at A&E following a collapse. From the reception staff to the doctor on my hospital journey I was treated with care and respect. I did have to wait a long time for a bed but this is unfortunately normal practice within all of the NHS and is out of the control of the employees. I had extensive tests and my observations were taken on a regular basis. The care was first class from all who worked there under very difficult conditions for them with some very difficult and complex patients arriving accompanied by Police who needed backup. I applaud them all.

Review titled Lack of Care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Garry Edkins - Posted on 12 May 2023
My dad spent ten days in Darlington Memorial and he was in a worse condition than when he went in. He was catheterised for no reason but to make things easier for medical staff. His eating habits were not monitored and I had to bring him food in just so that he could eat. After several blood tests that left him looking like a pin cushion, they had no diagnosis, even up to the point when I decided to bring him home as I was worried about his deteriorating health. On his release he was supposed to have an assessment regarding any help he would need at home, yet two weeks on we have heard nothing and every time I ring the Hospital I am promised a return call that never happens.

Review titled Fantastic service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Ben Wood - Posted on 06 April 2023
I came to A&E with a head injury sustained playing football. I was seen by a nurse after 15 minutes and explained my situation, she went out of her way to help me. I was seen around 15-20 minutes later by another nurse who put staples into my head and given a lot of information which was great. I can’t thank the staff enough, both the young lady who saw me initially and the lady who put the staples in. I was in and out if A&E in less than an hour. Thank you. B.Wood

Review titled Carer experience x2 visits
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Keith Appleby - Posted on 23 April 2023
Was great having a health care assistant in the dept doing ops and responding as required 1st visit was a really positive experience The 2nd visit was marked by the triage sisters attitude don't think in 42 years in the NHS I ever cut a carer off so abruptly either as a ward manager, clinical nurse manager, general manager or head of clinical pathways as she cut me off but I held my tongue so my partners care was not effected. ENT staff, reception and majority of A&E staff was outstanding efficient caring and professional but I will certainly remember the negative experience. But overall a great experience

Review titled Great patient experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I did have to wait nearly 4 months for this appointment. However, I had a very positive experience at the ophthalmology outpatient department today. Because patients can be there a while, a free hot drink was offered which was well received by patients . The ophthalmologist explained my diagnosis in a way which was easy for me to understand . He gave time for me to ask questions and gave me some helpful advice. All the staff in the department were friendly and explained what they were doing. It was my first time at the clinic and I was anxious, but the staff were great.Thank you
