  1. Review titled Shocking wait times

Rated 1 star out of 5

Shocking, poor, I'd rather travel an hr to Hull for treatment. 10hrs waiting in an empty A & E with poor treatment given before being sent packing after less than 5mins of actual treatment.

I was referred here to wait for an emergency surgery slot, the urgent care and gynaecology team at SDEC and everyone I saw throughout the hospital were absolutely amazing, I was treated with so much care and respect, they honestly couldn’t do enough. I am so grateful for the care that everyone gave me it made what my experience so much nicer and easier for me

  3. Review titled Absolutely dread the thought of myself or a loved one falling ill.

by Sharon - Posted on 07 October 2024

Severely long waiting times. And although my blood pressure was sky high upon arrival. After 5 hours it still hadn't been checked again. I had an open and bleeding wound and possible bleeding inside my head after a 9 hour surgery 5 days before yet there was not even a seat for me to sit on for the 5 hours I was there right up until I self discharged and left without seeing a dr or a nurse, no drink or kind word after vomiting. No locks on toilet door. No toilet roll. And other peoples urine and vomit on the floors in the waiting room. Staff just standing about or shuffling their feet and doing nothing while patients were waiting hours for a simple paracetamol.! Stating that drs are just not wanting to see patients tonight.!! In 5 hours only 3 people were seen and that was in the final hour. Absolutely disgusting & disgraceful service to obviously ill & suffering people. No care whatsoever anymore. And certainly no hygiene whatsoever adhered to. Machines beeping and even when staff asked to sort them out still no one comes. Elderly people sleeping on hard chairs with vomit bowls in hand. Drunken people who seemed to be the only ones having their names called.. falling about the place. No wonder people are just staying at home to die.. even though I could have quite easily done myself harm by leaving, I knew I would still be better off. After being told it would be a minimum of another 12 hours to see a dr I knew I couldn’t physically stand for a moment longer.

I had an ultrasound scan this morning. The receptionist was very efficient, and the lady sonographer who performed the scan was excellent; she was friendly, made me feel relaxed and explained what was happening. All over in about 10 minutes.

  5. Review titled 06.09.24 Treated with kindness, dignity and respect.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I visited b1 ward today for an urgent hysteroscopy. Feeling emotional and unwell I was met with kindness not only by the nurses within the room but also the consultant. The consultant kept me well informed of all my options and the procedures he was undertaking. Keeping me informed at all times. I was treated with dignity and respect and the kindness of holding my hand by staff nurse when procedure was taking place. I have to return within three months for another procedure but this time I shall not be feeling uneasy knowing what to expect. Please give my upmost thanks to the staff involved today.

  7. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My son has cystic fibrosis so is under the team at Sheffield, however he needed some bloods and swabs done and wasn’t in clinic at Sheffield for another few weeks. To save me from travelling to Sheffield, Grimsby children’s community team arranged the bloods and swabs here (he is under respiratory in Grimsby). The lead community nurse couldn’t have done more for us in relation to the cough swab and everything was done so quickly and handed over to other members of the team to ensure it was followed up. When the results were back the community HCA called on a weekend to let me know what the results were. The ward reg contacted Sheffield for a plan and updated me as soon as possible. It wasn’t left until a week day and I just felt so looked after by the whole team. When he needed his bloods taking the respiratory nurse came out to do them and informed me of the results hours later and contacted the Sheffield team to make them aware too. I could not be happier with how every member of the team have looked after my son and made each procedure easy and stress free. I hope this feedback reaches all involved and it’s shared with them how professional, compassionate and helpful they were.

  10. Review titled Orthopaedic Surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jay - Posted on 30 August 2024

I injured my knee quite seriously last August 2023. I’ve had 2 mri scans one last year which showed I’d got tears in my meniscus, acl,mcl and bone marrow edema. I was under Mr O who was very thorough in explaining every injury that I’d done. After the 2nd mri in April this year, that showed that everything had cleared up apart from the meniscus and acl tears which had worsened. Thus I needed to have surgery. I had my surgery yesterday and the treatment from arriving at hospital at 07.15 the service was second to none. I went down for surgery at 08.40 having had visits prior to going to theatre from the nurse, Mr O, his registrar and the anaesthetist explaining everything that was going to happen. Everything went well and I was back home for 14.00. A special mention to Mr O’s secretary who in my eyes went above and beyond in her job. Keeping me updated on a regular basis and answered any questions that I had very clearly. She really is a credit to the hospital. The nurses on Orthopaedic’s were all very professional and friendly and coped well even when they were extremely busy and dealing with the odd obnoxious patient. I live in Lincoln, but if ever I required hospital treatment again, especially if it meant needing day surgery again, I would make The Princess of Wales Hospital my first choice. Thanks again.
