  1. Review titled Straight forward

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paul Moffat - Posted on 11 October 2023

Day finally arrived. Staff were nothing but welcoming and friendly. Operation went smoothly and all the nurses, medical staff and catering personnel were helpful and calming. Took awhile for the discharge procedure, but I do understand the time constraints and limitations on doctors. Sandwiches were great and the cup of tea was pleasant , due to the discharge delay I could have done with something else though. All in all a straight forward, but very long day. Thank you.

  2. Review titled Lovely hospital with great staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I stayed at the Fitzwilliam hospital for 1 night following a total hip replacement. The hospital was lovely and very clean. The communication about my procedure and my post op procedure was very good. I was very nervous before the procedure but the Consultant and theatre staff but my at ease and everything was explained to me. I needed quite a lot of help after the surgery with basic tasks and the nurses were always there to help and I never felt rushed, even though I know they were busy. The catering lady was very friendly and made sure that I was looked after even though I missed the last meal time due to surgery. I would definitely return to this hospital if any further treatment is required.

The care was great throughout my procedure. I was only in for the day for surgery but everyone that came to see me was very kind and helpful with any questions I had.

  6. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Carol Desert - Posted on 05 February 2023

I was admitted to day surgery for pain care. From start to finish, my mind was put at rest,by the kind and caring nurses. My surgery procedure was professional, and again the nurse were very kind and professional. After making sure I was ok to leave (following coffee and biscuits) I was given instructions as to my aftercare,so overall a very satisfactory experience.

My experience when I went in Fitzwilliam Hospital for a full hip operation was very satisfactory as I found while I was in their care all staff was polite, professional and dedicated. Nothing was to much trouble, the staff made you feel very comfortable and put your mind at rest. Food was excellent.

  8. Review titled Hip replacement - in and out rather too quickly

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Wonderful staff on the ward. My elderly parent was placed on enhanced recovery programme - unsure whether any assessment was involved in this decision as, in my opinion, my parent could have done with an extra few nights in hospital, rather than being discharged to an unassessed home 36 hours after the operation. Parent was doped up after the operation and little of the information from physio and medication team was retained. No assistance post discharge (save for telephone number). Post operation assessment and group physio 6 weeks later. The elderly should receive more attention than this. Rather like a production line. Also, this is a private hospital with an NHS list. The receptionists remind you that you are NHS; there's segregation of private and NHS patients which makes you feel as if you are a member of an underclass.

  9. Review titled Disappointed

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Mr Graham Frost - Posted on 27 November 2022

My room was ok but the bed looked old the ceiling had stain mark's from several leaks and the bed when you are on it it clonks and feels as if it drops. nobody made the bed I was very very unimpressed. The only good thing about the service was the food. It seemed as if the paying patients were the most important.

  10. Review titled If you need a hospital make sure it's the Fitzwilliam

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 November 2022

From the moment I was through registration, the care received was excellent. For someone undergoing general anaesthesia and a surgical procedures for the first time, the consultant was very reassuring and radiated confidence and assurance about a procedure that he no doubt had conducted thousands of times. The surgeon and anaesthetist spent a good amount of time giving good detail about the procedure and what to expect etc as did a frequent stream of nursing staff who were focussed on providing the highest standard of care. Time passed quickly before I was accompanied to the theatre where the anaesthesia induction was carried out in a calm, serene, warm and reassuring way. Before I knew it I was awoken from my slumber on the warm white sand of a Carribean beach by the equally beautiful sight of a nurse silhouetted in the theatre lights! On return to my room I was fed and watered and made sure everything was working before being allowed home, even the anaesthetist called in to make sure all was well. At all times my wife was kept informed of progress and timing of everything so that she could also make plans around the schedule.
