  1. Review titled Rudest nurse

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 January 2025

I attended minor injuries at eight o’clock this evening and it was empty, went to the reception desk and was explaining to the receptionist what the issue was when a nurse came out asking what was wrong. Straight away she had a stand off attitude and proceed to say “ if it’s not that bad you shouldn’t be here and it it’s anything serious I can’t do anything” her stand off attitude really took me back and honestly made me feel like I wanted to cry. She then proceeded back into the office where another nurse was and I could hear them whispering. To be honest I felt like she was unconvinced anyone had come in just before closing. When I went into the treatment room, she asked my daughter very abruptly to sit in the corner and dragged a stool over to the corner of the room. I’m not sure why this was which took my daughter aback. The whole time I was in the room, she didn’t care to listen to what I was saying, or a back story. She was more concerned that “ you haven’t broken” and her attitude was that due to that it was all fine. She made me feel like my views weren’t valid and I was being dramatic and quote “ I don’t know what your wrist looked like before so” and recommended ibrufoen and ice. I have honestly never been spoke to so abruptly and rudely and with so little compassion in a setting where someone is coming to you vulnerable for help.

  2. Review titled Awful experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

This morning I went to frome hospital with my 3 year old son who was struggling to breathe due to him having a viral infection. There was a few of us waiting by the front doors at 8am (when A&E opened) it was freezing cold outside, there was a few young children waiting. We all went in towards the waiting room as it was the appropriate time. Staff told us we had to wait back outside as they had to tell us when we could go inside to wait. We all went back outside and waited, the receptionist came towards the doors and told us can we all not wait by the automatic doors as it was letting in a “horrible cold draft”. In which a lady responded saying “how do you think we feel when we’re out in it with young children” A lady then asked if the children could just wait in the waiting room as it was so cold and the receptionist said no. This was at 08:08am. The department opens at 8:00am there was no reason we shouldn’t have been allowed to sit in the waiting area. Very uncomfortable experience and receptionist was very rude

  3. Review titled More knowledgeable staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

I came into hospital last week because I was struggling with what felt like astmah symptoms. The lady I seen said everything was fine however I knew it wasn't. She said my chest sounded clear and my peak flow of 300-350 is good. However when going to see a doctor to confirm this I have been told I have inflammation on my right lung and my peak flow is bad. I have been told previously that my peak Flo score is bad as well. I said to the women at the hospital I felt like I was being fobbed off and she said how am I fobbing you off everything seems normal. However missed all of the above. I think your staff need to be more educated because this was missed.

  5. Review titled Waiting area excessively hot

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Julian Sandoe - Posted on 31 July 2024

This is not the first time that I have sat in the waiting area and thought that it was hot and stuffy, but today, despite wanting/needing to follow up on a significant injury, I concluded that I had to leave as the prospect of spending 3 hours in that heat was untenable. They seem to have air conditioning in the premises, but either it is faulty or turned down too low. It is clearly not good that the conditions are such that any patient feels that they cannot wait to be treated because the waiting conditions are unbearable. The place was packed, which did not help, but having to leave rather than wait because it is too hot or cold seems to be wrong. When I spoke to the receptionist and asked her to take my name off the list because I could not wait in these hot conditions, she just took my name off the list without comment.

  7. Review titled Rude receptionist

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Would not recommend to use this urgent care setting. Arrived half past 9 on a Wednesday morning with my father who suffered a nasty fall. The receptionist on this morning was very blunt, unhelpful and broadcast what is meant to be private and confidential information you give about yourself and the reason your there to the whole waiting room. Very unfriendly and found what is already a difficult experience much harder . Two hours later and still not seen - not particularly busy . Felt unable to approach the staff to ask for guidance. You can hear everyone’s full names and dates of birth in the waiting area and know what they are in for due to the shouty nature of the receptionist.

  9. Review titled Lovely initial triage then it does downhill

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I am really upset by the way I was just spoken to by one of the nursing practitioners. We were seen for my son's ear infection and advised no antibiotics were necessary - unfortunately my son always does end up needing them due to secondary asthma symptoms, and I must have looked disappointed about the inevitable Gp trip we will need by Tuesday. The nurse practitioner turned to me (not my husband, strangely) and started a rant about how she's not going to prescribe antibiotics if she doesn't see a clinical need and how she'd have to justify it in the paperwork, so I should just go to the GP as they can "do what they want". I hadn't said a word! Genuinely have never ever been spoken to so rudely in either Bath or any of the Wiltshire medical practices. Bedside manner absolutely nonexistent.
